- Unit 1: Describe the business analytics process with the help of a diagram and an example. Pointer: seven steps, problem to monitoring, with a telecom churn example (pages 6-8).
- Unit 2: Define a data warehouse and state Inmon's four characteristics. Pointer: subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant, non-volatile, one line each (page 19).
- Unit 3: Why is the median preferred for income data? Pointer: extreme values do not move it; incomes are positively skewed (pages 38-39).
- Unit 4: What is the difference between a dimension and a measure in Tableau? Pointer: categorical field (blue) vs aggregated numeric field (green) (page 61).

Mapped to the NEP-based BBA scheme, batch 2024-25 onwards. The 2026-27 edition checks Units I to IV against that PDF and adds Indian examples such as UPI fraud scoring. Last updated 14 October 2026; see the editorial policy for how corrections are handled.
The team also prepares GGSIPU important questions.
How to write BBA 204 answers: flow diagrams, comparison tables and step-wise numericals
- Theory answers. Open with a named definition (Inmon for a data warehouse), draw the matching flow (analytics process, ETL or KDD), add one comparison table (BI vs BA, OLTP vs OLAP) and close with a real company such as Netflix or Walmart.
- Numericals. For regression, write the X, Y, XY, X² table, state the formula, box the equation, predict, then interpret b and R² in one line. For association rules, finish with lift: on page 30 a 75% confidence looks strong, yet lift 0.94 shows Bread does not raise the chance of Butter.
Worked example: choosing a chart (page 69)
Q: Which chart suits monthly revenue over 24 months? A: chart (line chart) → reason (shows a trend over time) → business use (monthly sales tracking). Page 69 applies this to 10 situations.
Avoid pie charts with more than 5-6 slices and bar axes that do not start at zero (pages 55, 69). Practise this format on GGSIPU BBA important questions.
BBA 204 and the GGSIPU BBA Sem 4 papers it connects to
BBA 204 has no separate practical code, so its hands-on part (Excel, R or Python charts, a Tableau dashboard) is assessed inside the paper; every BBA paper is listed on the GGSIPU BBA syllabus page.
Other Semester 4 papers: BBA 202 Cost & Management Accounting, BBA 206 MOOC or BBA 218 Sustainability Practices (pick one), Major Elective-2, Minor Elective 2 and a multidisciplinary course.
Students using these GGSIPU BBA Sem 4 Business Analytics notes next to BBA 202 will meet three overlaps:
- Unit 3 regression → BBA 202 marginal costing: intercept a as fixed cost, slope b as variable cost per unit (page 44).
- Unit 3 optimisation → BBA 202 profit planning: the chairs-and-tables LP fixes the best mix under machine and labour limits (pages 49-50).
- Unit 4 KPI dashboards → BBA 202 Balanced Scorecard: both track performance against targets.
Star schema in data warehousing: excerpt from page 24 of the BBA 204 notes
Excerpt from page 24
Meaning of star schema
In a star schema, one fact table sits at the centre and connects directly to several dimension tables around it. Drawn on paper it looks like a star: the fact table is the centre and the dimensions are the points. Dimension tables are denormalised, which means they are not split any further, so each dimension is a single table.
In the retail sales example, the Sales fact table holds four foreign keys (Time_Key, Product_Key, Store_Key, Customer_Key) and three measures (Units_Sold, Sales_Amt, Profit). Around it sit four dimensions: Time (date, month, quarter, year, festival flag), Product (name, brand, category, price), Store (city, state, region, size) and Customer (name, age group, gender, city).
How a query uses the star schema
Suppose a manager asks for total Snacks sales in Delhi stores during Q3 of 2025. The query joins the fact table to Product (Category = Snacks), Store (City = Delhi) and Time (Quarter = Q3, Year = 2025), then adds up Sales_Amt. Each dimension is just one join away from the fact table, so the query stays simple and fast. Fact rows hold only keys and numbers; names, cities and dates are looked up from the dimensions.

Advantages and limitations
The design is simple for business users to read, fast because it needs few joins, well supported by BI tools and OLAP cubes, easy to filter because every attribute of a dimension sits in one table, and easy to extend with a new dimension or measure. The cost is redundancy: "Delhi" is stored again for every Delhi store, denormalised tables can drift out of step if loading is careless, and complex many-to-many relationships are harder to handle.
Do the BBA 204 notes cover the full GGSIPU syllabus?
Yes for all four units: every topic in Units I to IV has its own section. The hands-on note is covered as tool steps, not as a lab manual.

BBA 204 Business Analytics notes FAQs
How do I get the full BBA 204 notes?
Send a WhatsApp message to 9899436384 using the Get Full Notes button on this page. The full BBA 204 notes come only as a printed book of 70 pages; they are not sold as a PDF. Price and payment details are shared on the same chat, and delivery takes up to 5-7 days, depending on your location.
What is the passing mark for BBA 204 Business Analytics?
BBA 204 is marked out of 100: 40 internal and 60 end-term, as the BBA scheme of examination states. That scheme PDF does not state a pass percentage, so this page gives none. For minimum end-term marks, re-appear and result rules, read GGSIPU Ordinance 11 on ipu.ac.in or ask your institute's examination cell before the term ends.
Which BBA 204 unit has the most numericals?
Unit 3, Types of Analytics. It carries 7 worked examples: mean, median, mode and standard deviation on two data sets, simple and multiple regression, a Dijkstra shortest route, a Monte Carlo bakery simulation and a graphical LP product mix. It adds 6 practice numericals with answers and a formula sheet on page 53, so most revision time for calculations goes here.
Does BBA 204 have a separate lab or practical paper?
No. The fourth-semester scheme lists BBA 204 as one 4-credit paper with no P code. Its syllabus note says the course combines lecture and practicum credits, gives the lab component weight in internal marks and covers software analytical tools. The notes support that part with Excel functions, pandas and ggplot2 commands and a Tableau dashboard build on pages 59-67.
Which batch do the BBA 204 notes follow?
They follow the GGSIPU BBA Scheme and Syllabus (NEP based) that applies from academic session 2024-2025, where Business Analytics sits in Semester 4 as a Discipline Specific Course with 4 credits. If you were admitted under an older BBA scheme, compare your own syllabus with the syllabus map on this page before using the notes.
Do the BBA 204 notes explain Tableau and Excel steps?
Yes. Pages 60-63 cover Tableau products, dimensions and measures, the Marks card, the workspace and a seven-step dashboard build using the Sample Superstore data. Excel appears as functions such as STDEV.S and MODE.SNGL on page 41, the Regression tool for multiple regression on page 45, Solver for linear programming on page 50 and pivot-table cross-tabs on page 58.
