These BBA 312 Principles of Event Management IPU notes run to 75 pages: a course outline on page 5, then four units of 16 to 18 pages, each ending with an exam corner, revision table, glossary and HOTS case. Notes for every other paper in the course: GGSIPU BBA notes.
BBA 312 Unit 1: Introduction to Event Management
Unit 1 builds the vocabulary: definitions from Getz, Goldblatt and Bowdin, eight characteristics, the 5 Ws and 11 principles with a memory trick. Scope runs by type, function and size (mega to minor), then decision makers, technical staff, the three core responsibilities, policies versus procedures, record keeping and 12 trends.
Pages 7 to 24 · 5 figures · cases: G20 Summit 2023, IIFA, Sunburn · 10 short, 8 long, 10 MCQs
Quick look: break-even tickets for a college music night (from page 16)
- Fixed costs (artist, sound, stage, venue) = ₹3,00,000.
- Variable cost per guest = ₹100; ticket price = ₹600.
- Break-even = 3,00,000 ÷ (600 − 100) = 600 tickets.
BBA 312 Unit 2: Event Management Procedures
Unit 2 is the rule book: 14 principles for holding an event, from "legality before publicity" to a single point of command, then permissions (see the excerpt below), utilities from fire brigades to water, GST, TDS and a table of event laws, six elements of logistics and event management tools.

Pages 41 to 57 · 4 figures · cases: wedding communication failure, Gantt chart launch, 2,000-delegate conference · 10 short, 9 long, 10 MCQs

BBA 312 Unit 4: Public Relations and Corporate Events
Unit 4 joins PR theory to corporate practice: PRSA, CIPR and Bernays definitions, the RACE model, four media types and PESO, a nine-step outreach plan, a ten-part press release and media kits, then 12 organiser duties, guest lists, a 12-area safety table, entertainment and evaluation through ROI, ROO and NPS.
Pages 58 to 75 · 5 figures · cases: phone launch PR, Jaipur dealer meet, rain crisis · 10 short, 9 long, 10 MCQs
Quick look: ROI of a product launch (from page 70)
- Event cost = ₹20,00,000; extra gross profit from event leads = ₹32,00,000.
- ROI = (32,00,000 − 20,00,000) ÷ 20,00,000 × 100 = 60%.
- So ₹1.60 of profit came back for every ₹1 spent.

Event permissions and PPL music licences in event management: excerpt from page 28 of the BBA 312 notes
Excerpt from page 28
Permissions from local authorities
A public event in India needs clearance from several offices, not one. The notes list them authority by authority, with the permission each gives and why it exists.
- Police (licensing unit or local police station): permission for the public event or a performance licence, plus loudspeaker permission, for law and order, crowd control and time limits.
- Traffic police: a traffic NOC and approval of the parking plan, so vehicles move safely and roads do not jam.
- Fire department: a fire NOC for the venue and for temporary structures such as pandals and stages.
- Municipal corporation (MCD, NDMC and others): booking of grounds or parks, permission for temporary structures, hoardings and sanitation.
- Electrical inspector or power distribution company: a temporary connection and safety approval of generators and wiring.
- Excise department: a temporary liquor licence, for example the P-10 licence for a one-day party in Delhi.
- Health department or FSSAI: a registered or licensed caterer and health clearance.
- Pollution control board: noise and DG-set compliance.
Special elements bring extra approvals: drone flying through DGCA DigitalSky, clearance for foreign artists, and a fireworks licence.
Phonographic performance licences (music licences)
Whenever recorded or live music is played in public, at a concert, corporate party, hotel, mall event, college fest or DJ night, the organiser must take licences from the copyright owners or their authorised societies. Playing music in public without permission is copyright infringement under the Copyright Act, 1957.
- PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited) India licenses the public performance of sound recordings, the actual track owned by the music label.
- IPRS (Indian Performing Right Society) licenses the underlying musical and literary works, the rights of composers, lyricists and publishers.
- Recordings outside both repertoires are licensed by other bodies or directly by the labels.
A song therefore carries two separate copyrights, one in the recording and one in the music and lyrics. That is why organisers commonly need both a PPL and an IPRS licence. Fees usually depend on the type of event, venue area, number of guests, ticket price and duration.

How to write BBA 312 answers: diagram-led fifteen-mark theory answers and case-study responses
BBA 312 is descriptive, so marks follow structure. The Unit 1 tip sets the base for a 15-mark answer: a definition, one diagram (the 5 Ws or types of events), 8 to 10 headed points, one Indian example such as the G20 Summit or Auto Expo, and a short conclusion.
- Unit 2: name the authority and the law together, such as noise under the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, in an authority, permission and purpose table.
- Unit 3: add a small Gantt chart, seating sketch, RACI table or checklist.
- Unit 4: draw the RACE model or inverted pyramid; for a press release, write headline, dateline, lead, quote and boilerplate.
For case studies, quote one fact from the case and name the concept it shows, such as "single point of contact" in the failed-wedding case.
Worked example: budget control (Unit 3, page 49)
For "Explain event budgeting and budget control with an example", use the annual day for 300 guests. Food was estimated at 300 × ₹1,800 = ₹5,40,000, but 320 guests came, so the actual was ₹5,76,000, a ₹36,000 adverse variance. The 10% contingency absorbed it, and the total of ₹13,41,000 against ₹14,20,000 finished ₹79,000 under budget. Show it as an estimated, actual and variance table.

How do I get the full BBA 312 notes?
Message us on WhatsApp at 9899436384 with the code BBA 312. The full notes come only as a printed book of 75 pages covering all four units; they are not sold as a PDF. Delivery takes a maximum of 5 to 7 days, depending on your location.
Is BBA 312 a compulsory paper in BBA Semester 6?
No. BBA 312 is a Marketing specialisation elective, listed with BBA 310 Advertising & Brand Management. It counts as a major or minor elective depending on the specialisation scheme you choose. The official scheme also says electives are offered at the discretion of the college or university, so confirm with your institute that BBA 312 runs in your batch.
How are BBA 312 marks split, and what is the passing mark?
BBA 312 is marked out of 100: 40 internal and 60 end-term. The internal 40 are a 15-mark class test and 25 marks for two or more activities. The BBA scheme PDF does not print a pass percentage, so we do not state one. End-term minimums and re-appear rules are in the university's Ordinance 11 on ipu.ac.in.
Do the BBA 312 notes give answers to long questions?
Partly. All 40 short-answer questions (2–5 Marks) and all 40 MCQs come with answers. The 33 long-answer questions (10–15 Marks) are a practice list backed by a unit-specific answer-writing tip, a revision table and the theory sections they draw on. The index gives the page number of each section, so you can build every long answer from the notes.
Which laws and licences does BBA 312 Unit 2 cover?
BBA 312 Unit 2 names the Copyright Act, 1957 with PPL and IPRS music licences, the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Indian Contract Act, 1872, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and NDMA crowd guidelines. It also explains GST on event services, TDS on payments, fire and traffic NOCs and excise licences.
Which BBA 312 unit has the most exam questions?
Units 3 and 4 have 9 long-answer questions each, against 8 in Unit 1 and 7 in Unit 2, while every unit has 10 short answers and 10 MCQs. By length, Units 1 and 4 are the longest at 18 pages each; Unit 2 is the shortest at 16 pages but the densest in laws, permissions and tax tables.
