All four units are mapped to the revised NEP-based BBA scheme. The 2026-27 edition has 48 pages and 23 numericals set in an Indian context: IBC 2016, the RBI 90-day NPA rule, CIBIL scores and NSE data. Last updated 14 October 2026. See our editorial policy.

How to write BBA 424 answers: formula-first numericals, Z-score zones and fifteen-mark method answers
The notes' exam tips follow one order: meaning, formula, small numerical, interpretation. A fifteen-mark logistic regression answer adds a two-applicant numerical, the odds ratio and validation metrics.
For three-mark numericals, write the formula, one line of working, then one line of meaning. Example (Unit 4, page 48):
Q. Calculate RSI if average gain = 2 and average loss = 1. [3 Marks]
Formula: RSI = 100 − 100 / (1 + RS), RS = average gain / average loss.
Working: RS = 2, so RSI = 100 − 100 / 3 = 66.67.
Meaning: between 30 and 70, so no overbought or oversold signal.
Common Mistake boxes flag four traps: sensitivity (one input changes) is not scenario analysis (several change); the Unit 3 MA average is not the MA(q) term in ARMA; accuracy alone cannot judge a credit model when few loans default; Treynor suits only a diversified portfolio.
For Z-score answers, write all five variables, the three zones, one numerical and the IBC 2016. Practise on GGSIPU BBA important questions.
BBA 424 and the GGSIPU BBA Sem 8 papers it connects to
BBA 424 has no lab code (L-4, T-0); the full programme layout is on the GGSIPU BBA syllabus page.
Sem 8 (Hons.) has two compulsory papers, BBA 402 Research Ethics and Writing and BBA 404 AI and ML in Business, and the Finance electives BBA 420 Financial Risk Management and BBA 422 Mergers and Corporate Restructuring.
- Units 2 and 4 ANN models → BBA 404 AI and ML in Business.
- Unit 1 bankruptcy tests and Unit 3 GARCH → BBA 420 Financial Risk Management.
- Unit 1 FCFF and DCF valuation → BBA 422 Mergers and Corporate Restructuring.
- Unit 4 ratios build on BBA 211 Security Analysis and Portfolio Management (Sem 3); Unit 1 break-even on BBA 202 Cost and Management Accounting (Sem 4).
Logistic regression for loan default in credit risk analytics: excerpt from page 18 of the BBA 424 notes
Excerpt from page 18
Building a credit default model using logistic regression
Logistic regression is the most widely used statistical technique for credit scoring. It predicts the probability that a borrower will default (Y = 1) from several independent variables (X₁, X₂ and so on), such as the debt-to-income ratio, credit score and past delinquency.
Why not linear regression?
Default is a binary outcome: a borrower either defaults (1) or does not (0). It is not a continuous number like sales or profit. A linear regression line can give "probabilities" below 0 or above 1, which have no meaning. Logistic regression solves this by squeezing any value into the range 0 to 1 using the sigmoid function.
The logistic model
Step 1 builds a linear score: z = b₀ + b₁X₁ + b₂X₂ + … + bₖXₖ.
Step 2 turns that score into a probability of default: PD = 1 / (1 + e−z).
The same model can be written in log-odds form: ln(PD / (1 − PD)) = b₀ + b₁X₁ + … + bₖXₖ. This is why the coefficients are read as effects on the odds of default, not on the probability directly.
The coefficients (b) are estimated by Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), not by the least squares method used in ordinary regression.
Interpreting the coefficients
- A positive b means the variable increases the chance of default, for example a higher DTI ratio or a record of past delinquency.
- A negative b means the variable reduces the chance of default, for example a higher credit score or higher income.
- The odds ratio, eb, tells you how many times the odds of default change when that variable rises by one unit.
In an exam answer, write both forms of the model, say clearly why MLE is used, and interpret the sign of each coefficient before moving to any numerical.
Do the BBA 424 notes cover the full GGSIPU syllabus?
Yes. Every topic in the four official BBA 424 units has a matching section in the notes; the unit check found no gaps. Loan-default topics are taught as methods with worked numbers, not a real bank dataset.

BBA 424 Analytics notes FAQs
How do I get the full BBA 424 notes?
Send a WhatsApp message to 9899436384 with the code BBA 424. The full notes come as a printed book only; they are not available as a PDF. Delivery takes a maximum of 5 to 7 days, and the exact time depends on your location.
Is BBA 424 Financial Analytics compulsory in BBA Semester 8?
No. BBA 424 is one of three Finance electives in Sem 8 of the BBA (Hons.), next to BBA 420 and BBA 422. Students choose three Sem 8 electives in their major specialisation. The scheme says electives run at the discretion of the college or university, and the Hons. with Research track takes BBA 412 Dissertation in Sem 8 instead of electives.
How many marks is BBA 424 out of, and what is the passing mark?
BBA 424 is marked out of 100: 40 internal and 60 end-term. The 40 internal marks split into a 15-mark class test and 25 marks for at least two activities such as assignments or viva-voce. The BBA scheme PDF states no pass percentage for this paper, so check Ordinance 11 on ipu.ac.in for end-term minimums and re-appear rules.
Which BBA 424 unit has the most solved numericals?
Units 3 and 4 have 7 solved numericals each. Unit 3 covers returns, MA, EWMA level and volatility, AR and ARMA, ARCH and GARCH. Unit 4 covers portfolio risk, minimum variance weights, fund ranking, RSI, ROC, MACD and back-test metrics. Unit 1 has 5 and Unit 2 has 4, mostly longer model-based problems such as AFN and the confusion matrix.
Do I need Python or R to study BBA 424?
Not to follow these notes. Each topic explains the method on paper first, then lists the matching Excel tool, Python library or R function in a small table, such as Goal Seek, statsmodels ARIMA or the arch package. Exam answers are handwritten, so formulas and interpretation matter most. The tool tables help if your college runs practical sessions alongside theory.
Is there a separate BBA 424 lab or practical paper?
No. The official scheme lists BBA 424 as L-4, T-0 with 4 credits and no practical code, so there is no paired lab notes page. The notes still name the Excel, Python and R tools for each method, for example Solver for portfolio weights and Keras for ANN models, which helps if your institute adds hands-on work to internal assessment.
