No coding background is needed. The course outcomes ask you to build static pages and to write JavaScript that checks forms and changes content, so in these notes every syllabus tag or property comes with code you can run. It is one of the seven theory papers in the GGSIPU BCA Semester 1 papers.
BCA 105T Web Technologies Notes unit-wise: 44 code examples and 60 solved two-mark questions across 4 units
Notes for every other BCA paper are listed under GGSIPU BCA notes.
BCA 105T Unit 1: World Wide Web and HTML Overview
Part A explains what happens after you type a URL. DNS finds the server's IP address, the browser sends an HTTP request, and the server replies with HTML and a status code like 200 or 404. It also compares static and dynamic sites.
Part B is the HTML toolkit: structure tags, text formatting, entities, links, images and sound, lists, tables with rowspan and colspan, frames and <iframe>, forms, and image maps.
Remember: HTML is a markup language, not a programming language. It has no loops or conditions.
The Part A ideas of URL, WWW and the client-server model also appear in BCA 103T Unit 4 (Basics of Internet), so studying it once helps both.
Notes pages 4 to 34 · 21 topics · Code 1.1 to 1.12
BCA 105T Unit 2: Cascading Style Sheet and Bootstrap Basics
Part A makes the page look good: inline, internal and external style sheets, the cascade that decides which rule wins, <link> versus @import, and the box model of content, padding, border and margin.
Part B uses Bootstrap 3, because the syllabus names the jumbotron and glyphicons, which later versions removed. It covers the viewport tag for mobile screens, containers, the 12-column grid with xs, sm, md and lg breakpoints, and classes for tables, images, buttons and typography.
Remember: when two rules clash, inline beats internal, internal beats external, and !important beats them all.

BCA 105T Unit 3: Introduction to JavaScript
The programming unit: var, let and const, data types and operators, then if-else, switch and loops. After that come the alert, confirm and prompt dialog boxes, and built-in and user-defined functions.
The second half works on real pages: the String, Math, Date and Array objects, events like onclick, a registration form checked with onsubmit, the DOM tree, and BOM objects such as history and location.
Remember: prompt() always returns a string, so convert it with Number() or parseInt() before you add.
If-else, switch and loops work here the same way as the C control structures in BCA 101T Unit 1.
Notes pages 63 to 91 · 11 topics · Program 3.1 to 3.12 · 14 predict-the-output questions
BCA 105T Unit 4: XML and Web Hosting Concepts
Part A is about XML, which carries data while HTML displays it. It covers naming rules, the building blocks of a document, the HTML vs XML difference, DOM and SAX parsers, and internal and external DTDs with a library example. It ends with XML shown through CSS or JavaScript.
Part B follows a finished site onto the Internet: the domain name hierarchy and DNS, physical and virtual domains, registering a domain, why IP addresses are needed, hosting types and the steps to publish.
Remember: an IPv4 address is 32 bits, written as four numbers like 192.168.1.10; IPv6 is 128 bits.

Id and class selectors in CSS: excerpt from page 46 of the BCA 105T notes
Excerpt from page 46 (Unit 2, Topic 5: Style Selectors)
Id selector (#)
An id selector styles one unique element. In CSS it is written with a hash before the id name, and in HTML the element carries the matching id attribute.
<style>
#header { background-color: navy; color: white; padding: 10px; }
</style>
<div id="header">Unnati Educations</div>Class selector (.)
A class selector styles every element that has a given class. It is written with a dot before the class name. One class can be used on many elements, and one element can carry many classes, separated by spaces.

.big { font-size: 24px; }
p.note { border: 1px solid orange; } /* only <p> with class note */

Pseudo-class selector (:)
A pseudo-class styles an element in a special state, for example when the mouse is over it, when a link has been visited, or when a box is selected. It is written with a single colon after the selector. Syntax: selector:pseudo-class { property: value; }
How to write BCA 105T answers: ten-mark HTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML code answers with an output sketch
For the two-mark questions in Q1, write two or three lines: a definition, then one tag, property or example. For the ten-mark unit questions, write code.
At the end of each unit, the notes give an answer order that fits that unit:
| Unit | Write in this order | Extra tip for this unit |
|---|---|---|
| Unit 1 (HTML) | Definition, syntax, attribute table, full code, output sketch, 2 uses | Indent nested tags so a table or form is easy to follow |
| Unit 2 (CSS and Bootstrap) | Definition, syntax, property or class table, HTML plus CSS code, output sketch, advantages | Mention Bootstrap 3 when you use a jumbotron or glyphicon |
| Unit 3 (JavaScript) | Definition, syntax, methods table, program inside <script> with comments, output, uses | Comment each step of your logic |
| Unit 4 (XML and hosting) | Definition, rules or features, comparison table, XML plus DTD example or diagram, uses | Indent XML so the tree is visible; draw DNS and publishing as a flow |

Small slips cost marks: watch for </br> (empty tags have no closing tag), color=red instead of color: red;, onsubmit="validateForm()" without return, and <Name>...</name> in XML, where the case must match.
Worked example: a predict-the-output question
Code: "5" + 3 + 2. Output: "532". Why: JavaScript reads from left to right. A string plus a number joins as text, so "5" + 3 becomes "53", and then "532". Write the output, then the reason. Unit 3 has 14 of these.
You can practise this answer order on the GGSIPU BCA important questions for other papers too.
BCA 105T exam corner: 60 solved two-mark questions and 46 ten-mark questions by unit
Every unit has 15 two-mark questions with written answers. Each ten-mark question points to the topic, figure and code that hold its answer.

One exam-style question from each unit, with the answer in short:
- Unit 1: What is the difference between cellpadding and cellspacing? Cellpadding is the space inside a cell, between its border and the text. Cellspacing is the gap between two neighbouring cells.
- Unit 2: Differentiate between margin and padding. Padding is inside the border and takes the background colour. Margin is outside the border and is always transparent.
- Unit 3: What is the difference between
==and===?==converts types before comparing, so5 == "5"is true.===also checks the type, so5 === "5"is false. - Unit 4: Differentiate well-formed and valid XML. Well-formed means the syntax rules are followed. Valid means well-formed and also matching its DTD or Schema.
The BCA 105T notes solve 60 two-mark questions and 14 predict-the-output questions, and map 46 ten-mark questions to their topics across 4 units, plus 44 code examples.
These are exam-style questions for this syllabus. The notes carry no past-paper year tags, so none is labelled with a year.
More practice for this paper sits in the BCA 105T important questions.

BCA 105T Web Tech notes FAQs
How do I get the full BCA 105T notes?
Tap "Get Full Notes" at the top or the WhatsApp box at the end of this page. A chat opens with our GGSIPU desk, and your paper code is already typed in. After you pay, the complete 114-page BCA 105T PDF with all 4 units is sent to you on WhatsApp. If you only need one part of the paper, you can buy a single unit instead.
Do the BCA 105T notes use Bootstrap 3 or Bootstrap 5?
Bootstrap 3. The BCA 105T syllabus names the jumbotron and glyphicons, and both exist only in older versions. All 7 Bootstrap codes in Unit 2 (Code 2.7 to 2.13), including the grid with col-xs, col-sm, col-md and col-lg classes, follow Bootstrap 3 syntax. The notes also say that glyphicons were dropped from Bootstrap 4, so you can explain the change if it is asked.
Which BCA 105T unit has the most code to practise?
Unit 2 has the most numbered code in BCA 105T, with 13 CSS and Bootstrap codes. Unit 3 has 12 JavaScript programs, but it adds 14 predict-the-output questions and 14 practice programs, so plan the most practice time for it. Unit 1 has 12 HTML codes. Unit 4 has 7 codes on XML, DTDs, CSS styling and reading XML with JavaScript.
Are the BCA 105T notes made for the 2024-25 scheme?
Yes. The notes follow the BCA First Year syllabus, which is printed as applicable from the batch admitted in academic session 2024-25 onwards. We matched each of the 4 BCA 105T units and every listed topic against that PDF. If your college follows an older scheme, compare its unit list with the syllabus table on this page before you buy.
Can I use the BCA 105T notes for the BCA 105P practical file?
Use them to learn, not to copy. The BCA 105T notes have 40 practice tasks, such as a job application form, a Bootstrap result table and a JavaScript calculator. Type each one yourself, run it and understand the output. Your BCA 105P practical list comes from your teacher, and your practical file has to be your own work.
What is the passing mark for BCA 105T?
The notes do not give a passing mark for BCA 105T, and we will not guess one, because pass rules come from the university ordinance and can change. Check the latest examination ordinance and notices on ipu.ac.in, or ask your college exam cell. The scheme does show the paper pattern: ten two-mark questions in Q1, then one ten-mark question from each unit (20 + 40 = 60 end-term marks).
