$a = 5; $b = "5";
var_dump($a == $b); // bool(true)
var_dump($a === $b); // bool(false)
echo 3 <=> 7; // -1
echo 7 <=> 7; // 0
echo 9 <=> 7; // 1== converts types before comparing; === also checks the type.
BCA 203T Unit 2: Functions, Forms and State Management

The BCA 203T notes answer 110 two-mark questions and give answer plans for 36 ten-mark questions across 4 units, plus 114 programs with output. Four exam-style questions:
- Unit 1 (2 Marks): What is localhost? What are the default ports of Apache and MySQL? Pointer:
127.0.0.1; Apache 80 (443 for HTTPS), MySQL 3306. - Unit 2 (2 Marks): What is variable scope? Name its types. Pointer: local, global (reached through
globalor$GLOBALS) and static, which keeps its value between calls. - Unit 3 (2 Marks): Differentiate between "w" and "a" modes. Pointer: "w" erases old content; "a" keeps it and writes at the end.
- Unit 4 (2 Marks): Differentiate between DELETE, TRUNCATE and DROP. Pointer: DELETE removes chosen rows; TRUNCATE empties the table; DROP removes it.
More practice sits in the BCA 203T important questions.

How to write BCA 203T answers: program-with-output two-mark and ten-mark PHP answers
Question 1 has 10 short questions of 2 marks. The notes ask for 3 to 5 lines each: a definition plus one example or one difference. A one-line fragment such as define("PI", 3.14); often earns more than a second sentence.
For the 10-mark questions, the notes' Unit 2 alert gives the scoring order: definition, syntax, a small program with its output, then a comparison table. The Unit 1 alert notes that long questions often have two sub-parts, so give each its own heading and add a diagram or table wherever one fits. Unit 3 adds that every long answer should carry a program: a read or write program for files, a class with a constructor and inheritance for OOP, and try, catch and finally for exceptions.
For Unit 4, learn one full connectivity program by heart (connect, create table, insert, select into an HTML table, close) and write SQL keywords in capitals with comments. A long Unit 4 answer without a working program rarely earns full marks, because the questions themselves ask for code.
Worked example: "Differentiate between call by value and call by reference with suitable programs" (10 Marks)
- Define both; show that
&before a parameter makes it a reference:function addFiveByRef(&$n). - Draw the copy vs same-memory diagram (Figure 2.2).
- Run the add-five program both ways with
$num = 10: by value it stays 10, by reference it becomes 15. Add the swap program. - Close with a 6-point comparison table.
Two mistakes from the notes cost easy marks: calling setcookie() after any output ("headers already sent"), and using a user-supplied name in include $_GET["page"];, which allows a file inclusion attack. Both appear as boxed warnings in the notes. Practise this format on GGSIPU BCA important questions.
BCA 203T and the BCA 203P Dynamic Web Designing lab (31 practicals), plus other GGSIPU BCA Sem 3 papers
BCA 203P Dynamic Web Designing lab notes: the official list has 31 practicals (29 core, 2 application-based), and 15 must be implemented.
Our grouping by theory unit: Unit 1 arrays and regex feed practicals 1 to 7 and 30; Unit 2 forms, cookies and sessions feed 10 to 12 and 14 to 16.
Unit 3 files and uploads feed 17 to 22, with OOP in 13; Unit 4 MySQL feeds 23 to 27, Ajax is 29, and 31 combines a login system with a database.
Other Sem 3 papers: BCA 201T Python Programming, BCA 205T Computer Organization and Architecture, BCA 207T Discrete Mathematics, labs BCA 201P and BCA 205P, BCA 261 Vocational Course, one Generic Elective (BCA 221T or BCA 223T) and BCA 291T Human Values and Ethics (NUES).
BCA 203T PHP notes FAQs
How do I get the full BCA 203T notes?
Tap "Get Full Notes" at the top or the WhatsApp button at the end. It opens a chat with our desk on 9899436384 with the BCA 203T request typed in. The full notes come only as a printed 164-page book and are not available as a PDF, so you order the book on WhatsApp and the team shares the details there.
What is the passing mark for BCA 203T?
BCA 203T is marked out of 100: 40 internal and 60 end-term, as the BCA scheme of examination prints. The scheme does not state a pass percentage for this paper; its 40% line applies only to the non-credit Bridge Course. End-term minimums, aggregate rules and re-appear rules come from Ordinance 11 on ipu.ac.in, so check it there or ask your institute.
Which BCA 203T unit has the most programs?
Unit 1 has the most, with 42 programs, because it teaches PHP from scratch: variables, the 9 superglobals, operators, regular expressions, conditions, loops and arrays. Unit 2 follows with 30, Unit 3 with 24 and Unit 4 with 18. Unit 4 programs are longer, since each builds a full database task such as an Ajax search.
Do the BCA 203T notes follow the 2024-25 scheme?
Yes. The BCA 203T notes are mapped to the BCA Scheme and Syllabus w.e.f. 2024-25, which applies to students admitted in 2024-25 and later. Its second-year syllabus, which includes BCA 203T, was approved by the Academic Council sub-committee on 01.08.2025 and posted on ipu.ac.in on 04 Aug 2025. Older batches should compare their own scheme.
Do the BCA 203T notes cover the BCA 203P lab practicals?
No. BCA 203T notes are theory notes, though many of their 114 programs overlap with lab tasks such as cookies, sessions, file upload and MySQL connectivity. BCA 203P is a separate 1-credit practical paper with its own list of 31 practicals, of which 15 must be implemented, and its own 40 internal and 60 external marks.
Do the BCA 203T notes teach MySQLi or PDO?
Both, because the BCA 203T syllabus names both. Section 4.7 covers the MySQLi object interface and section 4.8 covers PDO, including a fee-payment transaction. Prepared statements appear in both styles: MySQLi with bind_param(), and PDO with positional ? and named :placeholders. The exam corner also has a two-mark answer on how MySQLi and PDO differ.
