MS-116 Unit 1: Life Skills
Unit 1 starts with self-understanding: core self-evaluation, the Rokeach Value Survey, ethics, and the Big Five and MBTI. It then covers Selye's stress stages, the Yerkes-Dodson curve, Dweck's growth mindset, the Eisenhower matrix, work-life balance and mindfulness.

- Disputation and energisation: "I cleared two rounds; one rejection does not define me," then apply again.
MS-116 Unit 2: Relating to Others
Unit 2 gives Eric Berne's Transactional Analysis its longest treatment: ego states, transactions, life positions, strokes, games and the Drama Triangle. It also covers FIRO-B, social intelligence, the Johari Window, Thomas-Kilmann conflict styles and active listening with HURIER and SOLER.
Pages 21 to 36 (16 pages) · 8 figures · six relationship and five listening exercises · 20 questions · a 17-entry thinkers table.

Types of interviews (continued)
A situational interview asks hypothetical questions such as "What would you do if...?". In a stress interview the interviewer deliberately creates pressure with rude questions or interruptions to test composure.
A panel interview has several interviewers at once, usually HR, a technical expert and the line manager. Technical or case interviews test domain knowledge or business problem-solving through guesstimates and cases, while the HR interview covers personality, values, expectations, relocation and salary. Virtual interviews run on video platforms and may use one-way recorded answers.
Before, during and after the interview
Before: research the company and role, know your resume line by line, prepare STAR stories, revise subject basics, take mock interviews and keep documents, dress and route ready. During: reach 15 minutes early, greet with a smile and a firm handshake, sit when asked, listen fully, answer briefly and honestly, and ask one or two smart questions at the end. After: thank the panel, send a short thank-you e-mail within 24 hours, note the questions asked and reflect before the next one.
The STAR technique for behavioural questions
Behavioural questions begin with "Tell me about a time when...". STAR keeps the answer tight and evidence-based. Take the question "Tell me about a time you handled a difficult team situation":
- S, Situation: "In my summer internship, our four-member team had to submit a market report in 10 days."
- T, Task: "I was the coordinator; two members disagreed on the survey method and work had stopped."
- A, Action: "I met both, listed pros and cons, and suggested a pilot with 20 respondents for each method."
- R, Result: "The pilot settled it in one day; we submitted on time and the manager adopted our report. I learnt to use data to resolve disagreements."
The result should carry a number where possible and end with the learning, because the interviewer is judging how you will behave in the next situation, not only what happened in the last one.

How to write MS-116 answers: PAC diagrams, model-based structure and Excel formula workings
MS-116 rewards answers that show a named model, a diagram and a workplace example, not general advice on soft skills. The notes build each section in that order.
- Draw the model. For Transactional Analysis the notes advise drawing the PAC circles with arrows for at least one complementary and one crossed transaction, then writing Berne's rules of communication with one office example each.
- Name the thinker and year. The thinkers tables in Units 1 and 2 pair 38 thinkers with their models, for example Luft and Ingham (1955) for the Johari Window or Thomas and Kilmann (1974) for conflict styles.
- Use the ethics tests. For any ethics question, quote the newspaper, mirror, family and golden-rule tests from page 7.
- Show Excel workings. In Unit 4, write the formula, the range and the result, and cross-check totals. The notes flag a missing
$in a fixed-rate cell as the most common Excel error. - Structure spoken answers. For extempore and opinion questions, use PREP: Point, Reason, Example, Point.
Worked example: "Explain the Johari Window. How can the open area be enlarged?"
- Define it in two lines: Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham (1955), a model comparing what you know about yourself with what others know.
- Draw the 2 x 2 grid: open, blind, hidden and unknown areas, each with one example (a habit of interrupting sits in the blind area).
- Explain enlargement: feedback shrinks the blind area, self-disclosure shrinks the hidden area, shared discovery shrinks the unknown area.
- Close with uses: team-building, a feedback culture and why new teams take time to perform.
The notes also list mistakes to avoid: duty-style resume bullets, new points in a GD summary and bar charts with a truncated axis. Practise this format on GGSIPU MBA important questions.

No. The GGSIPU MBA scheme labels MS-116 as NUES, so it is evaluated internally by your institute and has no university end-term exam.
