MCA-114 Unit 1: Introduction to React, Pure React, Props, State and Component Tree
Unit 1 goes from why React exists to a first app: ES6 features (let/const, arrow functions, destructuring, modules), AJAX with fetch(), pure React with createElement and JSX, then props, PropTypes, state and forms.

MCA-114 Unit 3: Angular, Node.js, Modules, NPM and Express Framework
Unit 3, the longest, opens with Angular (components, directives, forms, pipes, HttpClient), then goes server-side: Node.js setup, modules, Buffer, npm, the fs module (sync vs async, file operations, streams), the http web module (request lifecycle, custom endpoints), and Express routing and cookies.

MCA-114 Unit 4: MongoDB: NoSQL, Administration and Node.js Integration
Unit 4 joins the back end to a database: NoSQL types, BSON data types, MongoDB on Ubuntu and Atlas, roles and access control, then the Node.js driver for CRUD, query operators, sorting and projection, ending with an Express + MongoDB student REST API on page 118.

How to write MCA-114 answers: working React, Express and MongoDB code with a flow diagram
An MCA-114 long answer needs a correct definition, a flow showing how data moves, and code that would run. The notes give this frame on page 33: a two to three line definition, one diagram, one working snippet, then a comparison table or key points. For Unit 2, the tip on page 62 asks for a diagram in every long answer: lifecycle, Flux, Redux or HTTP request and response.
Short answers stay short: for "What are the obstacles in learning React?" (page 8), list any four in one line each. Three slips the notes warn about: mutating state inside a Redux reducer (page 43), using an arrow function as an object method that needs this (page 11), and ending an Express request more than once (page 93).
Worked example: "Write a Node.js program to show MCA students five at a time, highest CGPA first" (Unit 4)
The page 125 tip joins Part G and Part I into one program:
const { MongoClient } = require('mongodb');
const client = new MongoClient('mongodb://localhost:27017');
await client.connect();
const students = client.db('unnati').collection('students');
const top = await students.find({ course: 'MCA' })
.sort({ cgpa: -1 }).skip(0).limit(5).toArray();
await client.close();Around the code, write one line on the connection string format (page 111), draw a three-step flow (connect, query, close), and end with one line on why sorting before skip() keeps the page order stable.
Practise this format on GGSIPU MCA important questions.
MCA-114 and the GGSIPU MCA Sem 2 papers it connects to
Every MCA paper's syllabus: GGSIPU MCA syllabus.
MCA-114 has no lab code of its own; its practicals run under MCA-168 Lab. based on Core Elective - I:
- Units 1 and 2 feed the React work there.
- Unit 3 feeds
httpendpoints (page 90) and Express routes (page 93). - Unit 4 feeds MongoDB CRUD (the student API on page 118).
Semester 2 core papers: MCA-102 Data and File Structures, MCA-104 Object Oriented Software Engineering and MCA-106 Python Programming. MCA-114 shares its elective slot with MCA-116 Web Technologies, and an Express plus MongoDB app can become an MCA-170 Minor Project - II topic if your institute approves.
Node.js event loop in full stack development: excerpt from page 74 of the MCA-114 notes
Excerpt from page 74
The traditional web server problem
Servers like Apache or IIS create a new thread, or take one from a pool, for every request. If that thread performs I/O such as a database query or a file read, it waits (blocks) until the result arrives. With many users the threads run out, memory use grows and new requests have to wait.
Node.js single-threaded event loop model
Node.js runs the application in a single process with one main thread. All requests go into an event queue, and the event loop picks each one in turn:
- If the request is non-blocking (a simple computation), the main thread processes it and sends the response.
- If it needs blocking I/O (file, database, network), Node hands it to libuv's internal thread pool or the operating system with a callback, and the main thread moves straight to the next request.
- When the I/O finishes, its callback is placed in the event queue.
- The event loop runs that callback, which prepares and sends the response.
Event loop phases (libuv)
Timers (setTimeout and setInterval callbacks), then pending callbacks, idle/prepare, poll (waiting for new I/O events), check (setImmediate) and close callbacks. process.nextTick() and promise callbacks run between phases.
Non-blocking example
const fs = require('fs');
console.log('1. Start');
fs.readFile('notes.txt', 'utf8', (err, data) => {
console.log('3. File read finished');
});
console.log('2. End - Node did not wait for the file');The output prints 1, then 2, then 3: Node registers the file read, carries on, and runs the callback only when the data is ready.
| Traditional model | Node.js model |
|---|---|
| Multi-threaded, one thread per request | Single-threaded event loop |
| Blocking I/O, the thread waits | Non-blocking asynchronous I/O |
| High memory per connection | Low memory, handles many connections |
| Context-switching overhead | No thread context switching for requests |
| Good for CPU-heavy tasks | Best for I/O-heavy, real-time tasks |

MCA-114 Full Stack notes FAQs
How do I get the full MCA-114 notes?
Message Unnati Educations on WhatsApp at 9899436384 and ask for the MCA-114 Full Stack Development notes. The full notes come only as a printed book and are not available as a PDF. Delivery takes 5 to 7 days at most, and the exact time depends on your location. The View Sample PDF button shows 8 pages first.
Is MCA-114 compulsory in MCA Semester 2?
No. MCA-114 is one of ten papers in Core Elective - I, and each student takes one. The programme notes say an elective needs at least 20 students for classes; with fewer, students may complete it through a MOOC platform such as SWAYAM after approval and still sit the university examination. Check which electives your institute runs.
What is the passing mark for MCA-114?
MCA-114 is marked out of 100, and the end-term paper-setter pattern adds up to 60 marks (12 + 48). The MCA scheme of examination states pass marks as 40%, which is 40 out of 100. For any end-term minimum and for re-appear rules, read Ordinance 11 on ipu.ac.in, which the scheme says governs the programme.
Do the MCA-114 notes cover both MERN and MEAN stacks?
Yes. React with Redux and React Router fills Units 1 and 2, Angular opens Unit 3 on pages 64-72, Node.js and Express close Unit 3, and MongoDB with the Node.js driver is the whole of Unit 4. The final build on page 118 joins Express and MongoDB into one student REST API, which covers the back half of both stacks.
Which MCA-114 unit has the most code examples?
Unit 3 has the most, with 51 code examples and diagrams, split between Angular templates and forms and Node.js, fs, http and Express code. It is also the longest unit at 35 pages, so start it early in your revision plan. Unit 1 comes next with 46, mostly ES6 syntax, AJAX calls and React components with JSX.
Are the MCA-114 exam questions in the notes solved?
The 78 short and 40 long MCA-114 questions are printed as practice lists at the end of each unit, without a model answer under each one. Every question maps to a topic section earlier in the same unit, where the notes give the explanation, code and tables. None carries a past-paper year tag, so treat them as exam-style practice.
