The MBA(A) 204 notes list 40 short-answer and 32 long-answer questions across 4 units, plus 20 worked numericals. Answers come from each unit's sections, not one by one. One per unit:

  • Unit I: What are shadow prices? Prices showing true opportunity cost to the economy (page 16).
  • Unit II: What is a dummy activity? A zero-time dotted arrow in an AOA network that shows a dependency (page 28).
  • Unit III: What is scope creep and how is it controlled? Uncontrolled scope change, stopped by change requests, impact analysis and a change control board (page 43).
  • Unit IV: What is a risk register? A living list of each risk with probability, impact, owner and response (page 54).

Who writes and checks the MBA(A) 204 Project Management notes?

  • Prateek Talwar, author: Founder, Unnati Educations. Associate Company Secretary (ACS), ICSI, membership no. 58704, since 15 May 2019. B.Com, University of Delhi (School of Open Learning), 2012. Management, commerce and finance are his core area. Author profile
  • Sheetal Kirola, reviewer: Academic Head, Unnati Educations. M.Ed., 7 years of experience. She reviewed the MBA(A) 204 notes for unit coverage, flow-chart order and the leadership, conflict and change sections. Reviewer profile

Prateek wrote these GGSIPU MBA (Analytics) Sem 4 Project Management notes against the 2022-24 onwards scheme. The 2026-27 edition: 4 units, 38 figures, 20 worked numericals, 3 case studies, 72 exam questions. Updated 26 October 2026 under our editorial policy.

The team also builds GGSIPU important questions course by course.

How to write MBA(A) 204 answers: CPM and PERT tables, crashing steps and flow-chart theory answers

MBA(A) 204 mixes network numericals, marked step by step, with flow-chart theory answers. The exam tips cover both.

  • Network numericals (page 30): separate marks for network, ES/EF, LS/LF, floats and critical path; show both passes in one table, list every path, check TF ≥ FF ≥ IF.
  • Crashing (page 33): critical activities only, cheapest slope first, one day at a time; stop when extra direct cost exceeds the indirect saving.
  • Theory answers (pages 7, 53, 64): meaning, flow chart, three lines per step, one example.

Worked example: PERT probability of finishing in 20 days (pages 30-31)

  1. te = (a + 4m + b) ÷ 6; variance = ((b − a) ÷ 6)².
  2. Paths 17, 14 and 13 days: critical path A-C-E-G, Te = 17.
  3. Variance of critical activities = 3.778; σ = 1.944 days.
  4. Z = (20 − 17) ÷ 1.944 = 1.54, probability 93.86%. Key line: if Ts = Te, the chance is only 50%.

Practise MBA(A) 204-style networks on GGSIPU MBA (Analytics) important questions.

MBA(A) 204 and the GGSIPU MBA (Analytics) Sem 4 papers it connects to

MBA(A) 204 has no lab, and Semester 4 has none; all papers are in the GGSIPU MBA (Analytics) syllabus.

  • MBA(A) 202 Major Project Report: charter, WBS and Gantt chart (Units I and II) plan the dissertation.
  • MBA(A) 208 Multivariate Data Analysis: regression forecasting (page 14), Monte Carlo and scenarios (page 56).
  • MBA(A) 206 Ancient Management Philosophy and Indian Ethos: values beside Unit III leadership (page 39).

Electives: MBA(A) 222 Financial Analytics reuses page 15 (NPV, DSCR); MBA(A) 212 Managing Organizational Development builds on Lewin and Kotter (pages 43-44).

Project KPIs and earned value management terms in project control: excerpt from page 58 of the MBA(A) 204 notes

Excerpt from page 58

Meaning of project performance measurement

Project performance measurement is the regular collection and analysis of data to compare actual progress with the baseline plan in terms of scope, time, cost, quality and other objectives. "What gets measured gets managed": measurement provides the information needed for control.

Earned value management (EVM)

Earned value management brings scope, schedule and cost into one system. It asks three questions: how much work should have been done by now (planned value), how much has actually been done (earned value), and what the work done has cost (actual cost).

EVM terms, formulas and how to read them (page 58)
Term Formula Reading
Planned Value (PV)Budgeted cost of work scheduled (BCWS)What should be done by now

It does not print the end-term marks, the total or a pass percentage for this paper. For end-term minimums and re-appear rules, check Ordinance 11 of the University on ipu.ac.in.

Which unit of the MBA(A) 204 notes has the most numericals?

Unit II, Project Planning and Resource Consideration, with 7 of the 20 worked numericals: resource levelling, cost of project, CPM floats, PERT probability, crashing, updating and idle-cost saving. Units I and IV carry 5 each, including NPV, break-even, EMV and earned value. Unit III has 3: the control chart, cost of quality and value engineering.

Do the MBA(A) 204 notes follow the 2022-24 onwards MBA (Analytics) scheme?

Yes. The MBA(A) 204 notes were checked against syllMBAAnalytics180225.pdf on ipu.ac.in, the MBA (Analytics) Scheme and Syllabus 2022-24 onwards, where the paper sits on pages 81 and 82. Its Semester 3 and 4 papers were approved by the Academic Council on 19.07.2023. The syllabus map on this page copies its unit titles and topics word for word.

Does MBA(A) 204 have a lab paper?

No. MBA(A) 204 is a 3-credit Skill Enhancement paper with three lecture hours a week and no tutorial or practical hours, and Semester 4 lists no lab. Practise network numericals by hand instead: draw the AON network, fill the ES, EF, LS and LF table and list every path, as shown on pages 28 to 30 of the notes.

How is MBA(A) 204 different from MBA(A) 202 Major Project Report?

MBA(A) 204 is a 3-credit taught paper with 25 internal marks printed in the scheme. MBA(A) 202 is an 8-credit Ability Enhancement project: the syllabus gives it 100 marks, 40 from the internal project guide and 60 from an external examiner through a viva-voce and the report. Units I and II of the MBA(A) 204 notes help you plan and schedule that project.
