Value Highlights

MEV 015 Solved Guess Paper 2026 gives you 15 fully answered questions across all 4 blocks for the December 2026 TEE.
Each answer opens with the IGNOU book definition, then numbered points and a short conclusion that examiners mark fast.
Questions are ranked from six real papers, June 2023 to December 2025, so soil, radiation and noise control come first.
Book-exact counts stay intact: six AQI categories, five soil-forming factors, four BMW colour codes, eight AQI pollutants.
Control methods are laid out step by step, from cyclones and ESPs to dual-alkali scrubbing, mufflers and noise barriers.
Every answer sits near 250 words, the length a 10-mark MEV 015 question needs when ten must be done in three hours.
One paper serves MSCENV, MAEVS and PGDEVS learners, because all three sit the same MEV 015 course and term-end paper.
Read 5 complete sample answers here first, then get the full 19-page PDF after a quick chat on WhatsApp 9899436384.

MEV 015 Solved Guess Paper 2026 is a 19-page, exam-ready PDF of 15 fully answered questions for IGNOU's Environmental Pollution, Control and Management course, the Semester II core paper of the M.Sc. (Environmental Science) programme. We chose every question after checking six term-end papers, June 2023 to December 2025, and wrote every answer from the IGNOU textbook's own definitions, counts and examples.

Most students do not fail MEV 015 because pollution is hard to understand. They lose marks because writing 250 tight words on lapse rate or biomedical waste colour codes in about 18 minutes is hard. Each answer here is built for that moment: a crisp definition, numbered points under two headings, and a conclusion you can write from memory.

Below you will find five complete sample answers, the full block and unit table, and the grid showing how often each topic has been asked. When you are ready for the complete file, message us on WhatsApp at 9899436384.

1. MEV 015 Solved Guess Paper 2026: What You Get

The MEV 015 guess paper is a 15-question, fully solved PDF that covers all four blocks of Environmental Pollution, Control and Management, weighted towards the topics IGNOU repeats most.

An IGNOU MEV 015 Guess Paper is a shortlist of the questions most likely to appear in the term-end exam, chosen from what IGNOU has actually asked rather than from hunches. Ours pairs that shortlist with complete answers, so you get the question and the answer you would write in one place.

The 15 answers are spread the way the exam is spread. Block 1 gets four (meteorology, AQI, WQI and soil), Block 2 gets four (radiation detection, radiation effects, thermal and oil pollution), Block 3 gets four (particulates, SO2, wastewater and noise control) and Block 4 gets three (industrial, biomedical and municipal waste).

Each answer carries a small header telling you its block, its marks split and the sessions it last appeared in. That header matters more than it looks: when you have one weekend left, it tells you which answer to open first.

2. MEV 015 Sample Questions with Solved Answers

Five complete answers from the paper are shown below, one from each block plus a second Block 3 answer, so you can judge depth and style before you order.

We have not trimmed these for the page. What you read here is exactly how every answer in the full file is written, including the definition line at the top and the conclusion at the bottom.

Air Quality Index and its six categories

Question: Define Air Quality Index. Explain its six categories.

Meaning of Air Quality Index (AQI)

An air quality index is one of the important tools for analysing and representing air quality status uniformly, and it can assess the relative change in concentrations of groups of pollutants between two situations.

About the National AQI

  1. Launch: The National AQI was started in New Delhi on 17 September 2014 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, with the technical study conducted by IIT Kanpur.
  2. Pollutants: It considers eight pollutants, namely PM10, PM2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, NH3 and Pb, for which short-term National Ambient Air Quality Standards were declared in 2009.
  3. Purpose: Its main rationale is to give the public air quality information in a simple, uniform way.

The six AQI categories

  1. Good: The lowest band, with minimal health impact.
  2. Satisfactory: May cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people.
  3. Moderately polluted: Breathing discomfort to people with lung or heart disease.
  4. Poor: Breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure.
  5. Very poor: Respiratory illness on prolonged exposure.
  6. Severe: Affects healthy people and seriously impacts those with existing diseases.

Conclusion: The AQI turns complex multi-pollutant data into a single value across six categories, from Good to Severe, which makes air quality easy to communicate to the public.

Measuring and detecting radiation intensity

Question: Elaborate the mechanism of measuring and detecting radiation intensity.

Meaning of radiation detection

Radiation is detected with two types of instruments, particle counting and dose measuring. Both measure the number of particles or photons, but they report results as counts per unit time and dose per unit time respectively.

Particle counting instruments

  1. Gas-based detectors: The proportional counter, the non-proportional or Geiger-Muller (GM) counter and the ionisation chamber; GM detectors sense alpha, beta and gamma rays of medium and high energy.
  2. Solid and liquid detectors: Scintillation counters using NaI or bismuth germanate (BGO) detect low-energy rays with 50 to 90% efficiency.
  3. Semiconductor detectors: Ge(Li) detectors for low-energy particles, and boron trifluoride detectors for neutrons.

Dose-measuring instruments

  1. Dosimeters: Whole-body, area, extremity and survey-meter dosimeters record accumulated radiation and can be thermoluminescence-based.

Other detection methods

  1. Electroscope: Uses positive and negative charges and the rate of discharge.
  2. Cloud chamber: Lets the path of radiation be seen and photographed.
  3. Redox and free radicals: Oxidation or reduction products and trapped free radicals formed by radiation are measured.

Conclusion: Radiation intensity is measured mainly by particle-counting instruments (gas, scintillation and semiconductor) and dose-measuring dosimeters, supported by electroscopes, cloud chambers and redox or free-radical methods.

Wet and dry processes for reducing SO2

Question: Explain the wet and dry processes of reducing SO2 concentration in industrial emissions.

Meaning of SO2 control

Sulphur dioxide forms when sulphur-containing fuels are burnt. Its concentration in flue gases is reduced by using low-sulphur fuels, tall stacks and chemical treatment through wet or dry processes.

Wet process

  1. Principle: SO2 is removed by absorption backed by chemical reaction; being acidic, it dissolves readily in alkaline scrubbing solutions.
  2. Scrubbing solutions: Limestone slurry or lime (the cheapest), NaOH, MgO slurry, Na2CO3, ammonium sulphite and dimethylaniline; with lime, SO2 ends up as a calcium sulphate slurry.
  3. Dual-alkali process: Flue-gas desulphurisation using NaOH and CaO, with the advantage that no solids form in the scrubber.
  4. Ammonia scrubbing: Aqueous ammonia absorbs SO2, and the product, ammonium sulphate, is used as a fertiliser.

Dry process

  1. Oxidation and reduction: SO2 is adsorbed on an activated-carbon catalyst that oxidises it to SO3, which forms sulphuric acid with moisture; sulphur is recovered through the Claus process.
  2. Metal oxides: Calcium and magnesium oxides adsorb SO2 from flue gases to form sulphates.

Conclusion: The wet process absorbs SO2 in alkaline solutions such as lime, dual-alkali and ammonia, while the dry process relies on activated-carbon oxidation or metal-oxide adsorption.

Controlling noise at source, path and receiver

Question: Suggest the measures to control noise pollution at the level of source, transmission path and receiver.

Meaning of noise control

Noise starts at a source, travels along a transmission path and reaches a receiver, so it can be controlled at each of these three points through different interventions.

Control at source

  1. Reduce impact: Cushion impacts, use non-metallic parts and apply forces gradually.
  2. Reduce speeds and pressures: Lower rotational speeds and flow velocities; halving air-flow speed can cut noise by 10 to 20 dB.
  3. Reduce friction and radiating area: Proper alignment, balancing and smaller vibrating surfaces lower noise output.
  4. Damping and acoustic filters: Damping materials and absorptive or reactive mufflers and silencers cut vibration and flow noise.

Control along the transmission path

  1. Separation: Doubling the distance from a point source lowers the sound pressure level by 6 dB.
  2. Sound-absorbing materials: Acoustic tiles, carpets and drapes reduce reverberation.
  3. Barriers and enclosures: Panels, barriers and heavy air-tight enclosures block or deflect sound.

Control at the receiver

  1. Receiver protection: Change work schedules to limit exposure and provide ear plugs or ear muffs.

Conclusion: Noise is best tackled at the source through design, along the path through distance, absorption and enclosures, and at the receiver through schedules and protective devices.

Biomedical waste categories and disposal

Question: Explain the categories of biomedical waste with examples, and describe how it is disposed of.

Meaning of biomedical waste (BMW)

Biomedical waste is any waste generated during the diagnosis, treatment or immunisation of human beings or animals, in research on or the production and testing of biologicals, or in health camps.

Categories of biomedical waste

  1. Anatomical waste: Human and animal tissues, organs, body parts, blood and body fluids.
  2. Soiled and contaminated waste: Dressings, plaster casts and cotton swabs, plus recyclable items such as tubing, catheters and gloves.
  3. Pharmaceutical and chemical waste: Expired or discarded medicines, cytotoxic drugs and chemical liquid waste.
  4. Sharps and glassware: Needles, blades and scalpels, broken glass and metallic implants.
  5. Laboratory waste: Microbiology, biotechnology and clinical laboratory waste such as cultures and blood bags.

Colour-coded disposal under the BMW Management Rules, 2016

  1. Yellow: Anatomical and soiled waste, treated by incineration, plasma pyrolysis or deep burial.
  2. Red: Contaminated recyclable plastics, autoclaved or microwaved and then shredded.
  3. White: Waste sharps, sterilised and then sent for final disposal.
  4. Blue: Glassware and metallic implants, disinfected and recycled.

Conclusion: Biomedical waste is segregated at source into four colour codes under the 2016 Rules, and each colour has its own treatment and disposal route.

Block 4: Solid Waste Management16Hazardous and E-Waste ManagementAsked in June 2023 and December 2024; not among the 15 answers

Notice where the weight sits. Blocks 1 and 3 together produce half of the 15 answers, and Unit 5 alone gives two. If your textbook reading is patchy, start with those units, and keep our MEV 015 Study Material beside you for the short topics that sit outside the guess paper.

The official unit-wise textbook is on IGNOU's eGyanKosh repository for MEV-015. We used it as the single source for every definition in the paper, which is why the answers read like the book rather than like a general environmental science guide.

4. MEV 015 Important Questions: Topic Frequency Across Six Sessions

Soil components and formation factors is the most repeated MEV 015 topic, asked in five of the last six papers; radiation detection, wastewater treatment, water pollution effects, noise control and municipal waste follow at four each.

These are the IGNOU MEV 015 Important Questions as IGNOU itself has set them, not as a guide book imagines them. We tracked 25 topics across the June 2023, December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, June 2025 and December 2025 papers. "Yes" means the topic was asked in that session.

Want to check our entries yourself? Every paper in this grid is in our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper collection, arranged by course code, so you can open the MEV 015 papers and match each topic line by line.

The pattern holds outside our window too. IGNOU's official December 2022 MEV-015 paper asked about oil spills, minimising thermal pollution, biomedical waste technologies, noise control during transmission, wastewater treatment and SO2 control. Six of our 15 answers sit on exactly those topics.

One honest note on the Environmental Pollution, Control and Management Important Questions list. Effects of water pollution (4 of 6) and radioactive waste and nuclear plant safety (3 of 6) are frequent but are not among the 15 answers. Give each of them one careful read from the unit, and you will have covered every topic asked three times or more.

5. The Other 10 Questions Inside the MEV 015 Guess Paper

Beyond the five samples, the full file answers 10 more questions: Q1, Q3, Q4, Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9, Q11, Q13 and Q15.

Here is exactly what those answers cover, so you know what you are paying for. The fourth column uses the same six-session count as the grid above.

Q4 on soil is the one to learn first. It has been asked in five of the last six papers and it skipped December 2025, which makes it a strong candidate for the December 2026 paper.

6. MEV 015 Exam Pattern and How Long Each Answer Should Be

The MEV 015 term-end exam runs 3 hours for 100 marks, and you attempt any ten questions of 10 marks each, often split as 5+5 or 2+8.

There is no Part A or Part B. Twelve to fourteen questions are printed and you pick any ten, which is why selective preparation works so well for this course. Leaving even one question unattempted costs you 10 marks outright, so plan to finish all ten.

Three hours for ten answers gives you about 18 minutes each. That is enough for roughly 250 words, which is the length every answer in this paper is written to. When a question is split 2+8, spend two lines on the definition and the rest on the eight-mark part.

Examiners on this course reward three things: a definition that names the scholar where the book does (Horton 1965, Brown et al. 1970), the exact counts the book gives, and clear headings with numbered points. They are far less interested in long derivations such as the Gaussian plume equation or terminal-velocity maths.

Close each answer with a two-line conclusion that pulls the points together. It takes thirty seconds and it is often the difference between 6 and 8 marks on a 10-mark question.

7. MEVL-012 Practical File Index for MEV 015 Learners

MEV 015 is a theory course, but its Semester II companion, MEVL-012 Environmental Science Lab Course-2, tests many of the same ideas at the lab bench.

Students often ask whether the practical file comes with the guess paper. It does not; it is a separate product. But the two are closely linked, so here is the index of our MEVL-012 practical file with the MEV 015 topic each experiment supports.

Doing these experiments with the theory in mind pays off twice. A DO reading that drops near a warm outlet is Q7 in action, and a sound level meter reading that falls as you step back is the 6 dB rule from Q12. Examiners notice when a theory answer carries that kind of practical sense.

8. MSCENV, MAEVS and PGDEVS: Programmes That Study MEV 015

MEV 015 is a 4-credit Semester II core course of IGNOU's M.Sc. (Environmental Science), and learners of the MA (Environmental Studies) and PG Diploma in Environmental Studies also take it.

Master of Science (Environmental Science), MSCENV: MEV 015 sits in Semester II alongside MEV-014, MEV-016 and the MEVL-012 lab course, as listed on the official IGNOU MSCENV programme page. It is the course where the programme moves from understanding pollution to controlling it.

Master of Arts (Environmental Studies), MAEVS: MA learners study the same MEV 015 book and sit the same term-end paper, so the answers apply without change. Arts-background students usually find Block 3 the toughest, and our answers explain each control device in plain steps.

Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies, PGDEVS: Diploma learners take MEV 015 as well, often while working. For them, the 15 answers work as a complete revision set that fits into a few evenings before the exam.

If you are an MSCENV learner with more than one paper this term, ask us for the matching MSCENV guess Paper set for your other Semester II codes in the same WhatsApp chat.

10. MEV 015 Guess Paper FAQs

Quick answers to the questions MEV 015 students ask us most often before they order.

What is the MEV 015 Solved Guess Paper 2026?

It is a 19-page PDF from Unnati Educations with 15 fully answered questions for IGNOU's Environmental Pollution, Control and Management course. The IGNOU MEV 015 Solved Guess Paper covers all four blocks, from air quality and radiation to SO2 control and biomedical waste, and every answer follows the textbook's definitions and counts. It is built for the December 2026 term-end exam.

How many questions are in the MEV 015 guess paper, and how many can I see here?

The full paper has 15 solved questions across all four blocks: four each from Blocks 1, 2 and 3, and three from Block 4. Five complete answers are shown on this page as samples, covering the Air Quality Index, radiation detection, SO2 control, noise control and biomedical waste. The remaining 10 answers come with the full PDF on WhatsApp.

Which MEV 015 topics repeat most in past papers?

Soil components and formation factors leads, appearing in five of the six papers from June 2023 to December 2025. Radiation detection, wastewater treatment, effects of water pollution, noise control and municipal waste each appeared four times. Meteorological factors, thermal pollution, oil pollution, radioactive waste and industrial waste appeared three times each, so these deserve your earliest revision hours.

Can MAEVS and PGDEVS students use the MEV 015 guess paper?

Yes. MEV 015 is one course with one textbook and one term-end paper, whether you are enrolled in the M.Sc. (Environmental Science), the MA (Environmental Studies) or the PG Diploma in Environmental Studies. The questions and answers do not change by programme, so one guess paper serves all three. Just check that MEV 015 appears on your own hall ticket before ordering.

How long should a 10-mark MEV 015 answer be?

Aim for about 250 words. You attempt ten questions in three hours, which leaves roughly 18 minutes per answer including reading time. A strong 10-mark answer has a one-line definition, two headed groups of numbered points and a two-line conclusion. When a question is split as 2+8 or 5+5, divide your words in the same ratio as the marks.

Are the MEV 015 answers written from the IGNOU textbook?

Yes. Every answer is written from the MEV 015 study material published by IGNOU, keeping its definitions, scholar citations and exact counts, such as Horton's 1965 work on water quality, the eight AQI pollutants and the four biomedical waste colour codes. Examiners compare answers against the book, so matching its language and numbers is the safest way to score well.

Will the same questions come in the MEV 015 exam?

No guess paper can promise that, and we will not claim it. What this paper does is rank topics by how often IGNOU has actually asked them over six sessions, then answer the strongest candidates in full. Students who revise these 15 answers cover most of the topics that have repeated since June 2023, which is a far better bet than random reading.

How do I get the full MEV 015 guess paper?

Send a WhatsApp message to 9899436384 with the course code MEV 015 and your programme. Our team replies with the price and payment options, and once payment is confirmed the complete 19-page PDF with all 15 answers is shared on the same chat. If you need other IGNOU codes or a practical file too, mention them in the same message.

Is the MEV 015 practical file part of the guess paper?

No, they are separate products. MEV 015 is a theory course, and its lab work sits in MEVL-012, the Environmental Science Lab Course-2 of Semester II. The guess paper covers only the theory exam. If you also need a practical file for MEVL-012, ask for it in the same WhatsApp chat and our team will share the index and details.

11. Who Prepares and Checks the MEV 015 Answers

The MEV 015 answers are prepared by the Unnati Educations IGNOU faculty, edited by founder Prateek Talwar and reviewed by Academic Head Sheetal Kirola.

Unnati Educations has supported IGNOU, NIOS and B.Ed learners from Vikaspuri, New Delhi since 2008, with a faculty of more than 50 teachers. Our IGNOU team writes one guess paper per course code rather than one generic set, because every IGNOU paper has its own habits.

, founder and a Company Secretary, edits every IGNOU guess paper for structure and exam fit. Sheetal Kirola, Academic Head (M.Ed.), reviews each answer against the IGNOU book for accuracy before the file is released.

During review we check each definition against the unit text, each count against the book (four BMW colours, not five), and each "last asked" label against the actual papers. Where the book is ambiguous, we write the version the book uses, not the version a website prefers.
