Course Overview

MCS 15 Solved Guess Paper is our revision file for the December 2026 and June 2027 term-end sessions of IGNOU MCS-015 Communication Skills, the language paper carried by learners of IGNOU's Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). It holds 15 exam-style questions with complete model answers, written straight from the IGNOU textbook.

Communication Skills is not a memory paper. It is a format paper. The examiner opens your sheet and looks first for the four memo heads, the CV headings, the speaker names in a group discussion. Content earns you the second half of the marks. Layout earns you the first half, and layout is exactly what a rushed learner gets wrong. This file was built around that reality.

Inside the MCS 15 Solved Guess Paper for Communication Skills

The file is a 28-page PDF holding 15 questions with complete model answers, covering both blocks and all ten units of MCS-015 Communication Skills. Each question carries the block and unit it belongs to, the sessions in which it last appeared, the marks it usually attracts and a suggested word target.

The order of the file follows revision logic rather than the order of the textbook. Group discussions come first because they open almost every paper. Job applications and the curriculum vitae follow, because those two have appeared together in all six sessions we checked. Memos, phrasal verbs, report writing and the complaint letter come next. The theory units close the file.

Three answers in the file run longer than the rest. The job application question is written twice, once in the fresher format and once in the experienced-applicant format, because the paper has set both. The group discussion is written twice as well, once for three speakers and once for two, since the number of participants changes how long each turn has to be. If you want to see how we build these files across other course codes, our IGNOU Solved Guess Paper collection follows the same method.

One thing is deliberately absent, and we would rather say so here than let you find out later. Question 1 of every MCS-015 paper is an unseen comprehension passage. That passage is chosen fresh each session and no part of it comes from the IGNOU book. Printing an invented passage would have been filler, so instead the file carries a seven-point strategy card for attacking any passage under exam pressure.

Five Sample Questions with Answers from MCS-015 Communication Skills

Five of the 15 questions are reproduced below in condensed form so you can judge the answer quality before you pay. The remaining 10 questions, and the full-length versions of these five, are in the paid file.

Sample 1Unit 105 × 2 = 10 marks

Phrasal Verbs, Fill in the Blanks

Question: Fill in the blanks choosing the most suitable phrasal verb. Make changes in the verb form if necessary. Choose from: work out, turn up, call off, look after, fill in.

  1. The meeting was ............ because the chairperson was unwell. Answer: called off
  2. Please ............ this form before you leave the counter. Answer: fill in
  3. Only ten of the fifty invitees ............ for the function. Answer: turned up
  4. She has to ............ her old parents at home. Answer: look after
  5. Both sides must ............ a solution that suits everyone. Answer: work out

Why learners lose marks here: the tense of the sentence decides the form. A past-tense sentence needs called off, not call off. The other trap is near-twins. Make out means understand, make up means cover a shortage. Worked out means solved, worked up means excited.

Sample 2Unit 610 marks

Memo on New Security Guidelines

Question: You are a Personnel Manager in the HR Department of an IT company. New security protocols have been proposed. Write a memo to the staff informing them about the guidelines.

The book defines a memo as a message in writing sent by one person or department to another within the same business organisation. That is why it is also called an inter-office memo. Open with the four heads, then itemise.

MEMORANDUM
Date: 14 December 2026
From: Personnel Manager, Human Resource Department
To: All Staff Members
Subject: Proposed security guidelines, effective 1 January 2027

The management has approved a new set of security protocols for all offices, in force from 1 January 2027. Staff members are requested to note the following.

  • Every employee must wear the photo identity card inside office premises at all times.
  • Entry and exit will be through the biometric gate only. Cards must not be shared.
  • System passwords must be changed every sixty days and must not be written down.
  • Company data must not be copied to any personal device, mail account or storage drive.
  • Loss of an identity card, laptop or mobile phone must be reported the same day.

A training session will be held on 22 December 2026 at 3.00 pm in the Conference Hall. Attendance is compulsory.

(The paid file carries the full memo, plus a second memo on flexible work timings and the seven memo-writing rules.)

Sample 3Unit 1010 marks

The Four Phases of Negotiation

Question: Describe the process of negotiation. Explain the main phases and the language used in each of them.

  1. Preparation phase. You identify your purpose and set priorities. You also decide in advance the lowest offer you will accept, and keep every piece of information you may need with you.
  2. Debating phase. Negotiation is give and take. Here you find out what the other party wants. State what you want but do not spell out all your conditions yet. Use open questions and listen.
  3. Proposal stage. You suggest the concessions you are willing to make. Frame them as if..., then.... Listen to the other side's proposals too and build on common ground.
  4. Bargaining phase. You spell out what you will actually trade. Confirm agreed details by repeating them, summarise the proposal briefly, and close by looking ahead.

Marks tip: the examiner expects stage-wise language, not just the four names. Say We could offer you... for a concession, I'm afraid we can't... for a rejection, Let me just repeat what we've agreed upon for confirmation. The full file gives an eight-row expression table and six negotiation idioms.

Sample 4Unit 410 marks

Group Discussion Do's and Don'ts

Question: Write a note in approximately 150 words on the tips to make group discussions effective. List out all the Do's and Don'ts.

Do's: be assertive but not aggressive; make sure you get enough airtime; build a knowledge base by reading newspapers and magazines; structure your ideas logically; contribute towards the right consensus; display leadership by initiating; give examples to substantiate; use a conversational style; listen attentively; summarise at the end and thank the moderators.

Don'ts: do not be aggressive; do not let high performers overshadow low performers; do not let the group drift from the topic; do not be verbose and wordy; do not ask the moderators to comment on your performance.

Watch the word limit. This question states 150 words in the paper itself, and a stated limit overrides every general rule. The two lists above come to roughly 142 words, which is a complete answer. The paid file also carries the nine-row panel assessment table for when a bigger limit is given.

Sample 5Unit 3Part of a 10 + 5 question

Five Qualities of a Good Curriculum Vitae

Question context: the CV has appeared alongside the job application letter in every one of the six sessions we analysed, and this five-point list is the easiest scoring block inside it.

  • Clear. Well organised and logical. The reader should find every detail at one glance.
  • Concise. Relevant and necessary. Leave out anything that does not help your case.
  • Complete. Includes everything needed. No gap should be left in dates or details.
  • Consistent. Does not mix styles or fonts. One style is kept right through.
  • Current. Up to date, with your latest job, course and contact details added.

Format choice matters more than content here. A first-time applicant uses the plain format, leading with education. An applicant with work behind them leads with career profile, career skills and career achievements instead. The paid file gives one worked example of each, plus a twenty-verb action-word table.

Those are 5 of the 15 questions. The other 10 cover report writing, minutes of a meeting, the online complaint letter, presentation preparation and delivery, telephone techniques, the communication process with its barriers, and the second group discussion and job application variants.

How the MCS-015 Communication Skills Question Paper Is Set

The MCS-015 paper runs for 2 hours, carries 50 maximum marks and has five questions, all of them compulsory. This structure has held steady across every session we checked, and you can confirm it yourself on the official IGNOU December 2025 MCS-015 question paper.

  • Q1. Unseen passage with five short questions, 5 × 2 = 10 marks.
  • Q2. Phrasal verbs, fill in the blanks, 5 × 2 = 10 marks. The June 2026 paper set this at 5 × 1 = 5.
  • Q3. Write the text of a group discussion among two or three participants, 10 marks.
  • Q4. Job application with curriculum vitae, 10 marks, sometimes split as 10 + 5.
  • Q5. Memo, report or formal complaint letter, 10 to 15 marks.

On word length, the paper is usually silent. When it says nothing, aim for about 250 words on a 10-mark answer and about 350 on a 15-mark one. When the paper does state a limit, and December 2023 stated both 150 and 250, that stated number overrides everything else. Writing 400 words against a 150-word instruction costs marks.

Reading the actual papers is worth an evening of your time, because the phrasing repeats even when the topic changes. Our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper archive lets you sit with the real wording for MCS-015 before you decide what to revise.

Block and Unit Index of IGNOU MCS-015 Communication Skills

MCS-015 has two blocks and ten units in total, and there is no practical file or viva component in this course. The blocks are titled Professional Skills Needed at the Workplace, Part I and Part II. Everything the paper can ask you sits inside these ten units.

Block and unit index of IGNOU MCS-015 Communication Skills, with what the term-end paper draws from each unit
BlockUnitUnit titleWhat the paper actually draws from it
11The Process of CommunicationSix elements of communication, the seven macro functions with one example each, and the eight barriers from code and vocabulary through to affective factors
12Telephone TechniquesCaller and receiver expressions side by side, the six heads of a written message form, and the four-step answering machine message
13Job Applications and InterviewsApplication letter layout, the fresher CV format against the experienced-applicant format, five qualities of a good CV, and action verbs grouped by leading, creating, delivering and studying
14Group DiscussionsWriting the spoken text for two or three named participants, the seven GD language functions, the ten Do's with five Don'ts, and the nine panel assessment criteria
15Managing Organisational StructureSix stages of preparing a report, and the four-part report format of introduction, body, conclusion and recommendations
26MeetingsDefinition of a memo, the seven memo-writing rules, the three functional categories of a memo, and the roles of chairing against participating
27Taking Notes and Preparing MinutesThe distinction between note-taking and note-making, the seven-head minutes format, and writing minutes in past tense and passive voice
28Presentation Skills, Part IThe preparation checklist covering room and equipment, audience size and knowledge level, purpose, memorised introduction, outline, handouts and rehearsal
29Presentation Skills, Part IIDelivery habits including modulation, deliberate pauses and body language, the five presentation structures, and how to close and invite questions
210Negotiation SkillsThe four phases of negotiation, stage-wise expressions, six negotiation idioms, the phrasal verb list, and the letter confirming a settlement

Because there is no laboratory element, MCS-015 marks come only from the term-end paper and the assignment. That makes the written formats the whole game. If you are still gathering the base reading before you revise, our MCS 15 Study Material page collects the block-wise notes for these ten units.

Six-Session Frequency Analysis for MCS-015 Communication Skills

Six question papers were analysed for this file: December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026. The count below is how many of those six sessions each topic appeared in. Priority is set on one rule and one rule only: four or more appearances is high, two or three is medium, one is low, and a topic examinable but unseen in six sessions is a backup.

How often each MCS-015 Communication Skills topic appeared across six term-end sessions, December 2023 to June 2026
TopicSessions it appeared inCountRevision priority
Unseen passage comprehensionAll six sessions6 of 6High
Job application letterAll six sessions6 of 6High

Read the last row carefully, because it is the one most learners misuse. A topic sitting at zero across six sessions is not safe to skip. Theory has been asked once in six sessions, which means it is overdue rather than dead. The five backup topics in this file are written short for exactly that reason. You learn them as insurance, not as your main revision.

Who Should Buy This MCS 15 Solved Guess Paper for Communication Skills

This file suits learners with two to fifteen days left, who understand the subject but have not yet practised the formats. It is a revision file, not a substitute for the blocks.

  • MCA (Revised) and BCA (Revised) learners sitting MCS-015 in December 2026 or June 2027.
  • Learners repeating the paper after a low score, who usually lost marks on layout rather than on English.
  • Working learners who cannot read two full blocks and need the examined portion isolated for them.
  • Learners weak in written English who want short, correct sentences they can adapt rather than long theory to memorise.

It is a poor fit if you have a month in hand and have not opened the book at all. In that case read the units first and come back to this file in the final week. Learners taking several papers in the same session often pick up the wider MCA Guess Paper set instead, so that one method carries across every course code in the semester.

Format-First Answer Strategy for MCS-015 Communication Skills

In MCS-015 the examiner awards the structure before reading the content, so the fastest way to raise your score is to get the headings right. Four habits do most of the work.

  1. Attempt the unseen passage first. It needs no preparation, it settles your nerves and it is ten marks. Read the five questions before you read the passage, then read the passage twice.
  2. Turn every instruction into a visible item. If the question lists four points, your memo must show four bullets. Examiners tick against the question, not against your paragraphs.
  3. Put real detail in. Dates, file numbers, figures, names. A report without numbers reads as an essay and loses marks even when the English is clean.
  4. Close properly. Sign off the letter, end the memo with your designation, summarise the group discussion. An answer that simply stops looks unfinished.

One more thing that is worth saying plainly, because we get asked it every session. Do not learn a group discussion answer word for word. The topic changes each time, and a memorised script about social media will not fit a question about work-from-home. Learn the shape and the phrases, then drop any topic into it.

MCS-015 Communication Skills Guess Paper: Frequently Asked Questions

What does the MCS 15 Solved Guess Paper for Communication Skills contain?

It contains 15 exam-style questions with complete model answers across 28 pages, covering both blocks and all ten units of MCS-015. Each question carries its block, its unit, the sessions in which it last appeared, its usual mark weight and a word target. Model layouts are given for the memo, report, minutes, complaint letter, job application and curriculum vitae questions.

Which IGNOU programmes study MCS-015 Communication Skills?

MCS-015 Communication Skills is studied in the Master of Computer Applications (Revised) and the Bachelor of Computer Applications (Revised) at IGNOU. The question paper itself carries both programme names on its cover. The syllabus, the examination pattern and the answer formats are identical for both, so the same guess paper file serves MCA and BCA learners without any change.

How many marks and how much time does the MCS-015 Communication Skills exam carry?

The MCS-015 term-end examination runs for two hours and carries 50 maximum marks. There are five questions and all of them are compulsory, so there is no internal choice to fall back on. That works out to roughly twenty minutes of writing per question, which is why practising the formats beforehand matters more in this paper than in most others.

Is the MCS-015 Communication Skills guess paper based on previous year question papers?

Yes. Six term-end papers were read line by line before this file was written: December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026. Repeated topics were counted, gaps in recent sessions were marked, and every question in the file carries a priority tag derived from that count rather than from guesswork.

Does MCS-015 Communication Skills have a practical file or viva?

No. MCS-015 Communication Skills has no laboratory component, no practical file and no viva. Your marks come from the term-end written paper and the assignment only. This is worth knowing because learners often search for an MCS-015 practical file and waste days looking for something the course does not have. The written formats carry the entire weight.

Why is the unseen passage not answered in the MCS-015 guess paper?

Because the passage is chosen fresh for every session and no part of it comes from the IGNOU book. Printing an invented passage would have been filler that helps nobody in the hall. Instead the file carries a seven-point strategy card for attacking any comprehension passage, covering reading order, the title question, synonyms and how long each two-mark answer should be.

How is the MCS-015 Communication Skills guess paper delivered after payment?

The file is shared as a PDF on WhatsApp at 9899436384. Send a message with the course code and your exam session, our desk confirms the details and sends a payment link, and the 28-page PDF arrives on the same thread once payment is confirmed. Delivery is usually within a few minutes during working hours.

Can this MCS-015 Communication Skills file replace the IGNOU blocks?

No, and we would rather be straight about that. This is a revision file for the last two weeks before the examination, built for learners who have already met the material. If you have four weeks or more in hand, read the two blocks first and use this file afterwards to drill the formats and check what the paper actually repeats.
