About the Course

BGL-001 is the first paper in IGNOU's Certificate Course in German Language. It walks you through A1-level fundamentals: Aussprache, the alphabet, numbers, dates, regular and irregular verb conjugation in PrΓ€sens, definite and indefinite articles, plural patterns, the W-Fragen (wer, was, wo, wohin, woher, wem, wen), Personalpronomen, and basic sentence structure. The paper rewards students who've drilled forms, not just memorised vocabulary lists. That's exactly what working through the IGNOU BGL 001 question paper builds.

Sample Answer Preview: BGL-001 German Language Course-I Explanation

Take Question 1, writing the date 22.3 in words. It looks easy. It's the question where the most students lose silly marks. Here's how examiners actually mark it.

Step 1, Identify the format (about 0.3 marks per date). German dates always read day first, then month, then year. So 22.3 is the twenty-second of March, written as der zweiundzwanzigste MΓ€rz or, in full sentence form, am zweiundzwanzigsten MΓ€rz.

Step 2, Build the ordinal correctly (about 0.4 marks). For 1 to 19, you add -te to the cardinal. For 20 and above, you add -ste. So 22 becomes zweiundzwanzig + ste = zweiundzwanzigste. Spelling matters: zwei + und + zwanzig joined as one word.

Step 3, Add the month with correct spelling and gender (about 0.3 marks). All German months are masculine: der MΓ€rz, der April, der Juli, der Oktober, der November, der Dezember. Capitalisation is non-negotiable, every German noun starts with a capital letter.

Apply the same logic to all seven dates: 12.11 = der zwΓΆlfte November, 4.10 = der vierte Oktober, 15.10 = der fΓΌnfzehnte Oktober, 25.12 = der fΓΌnfundzwanzigste Dezember, 7.7 = der siebte Juli (note the irregular sieb, not sieben), 21.4 = der einundzwanzigste April.

Watch the irregular ordinals: erste (1st), dritte (3rd), siebte (7th), achte (8th). These are the four traps where most CGL students lose marks. With this approach you'll pick up 6 to 7 marks out of 7 cleanly.

How to Write High-Scoring Answers

Three habits separate a 60% script from an 90% one in BGL-001.

First, capitalisation isn't optional. Every German noun gets a capital letter, every time. Buch, Kind, Frau, even abstract ones like Hunger. Examiners deduct half a mark per missed capital, and those add up across 50 marks fast.

Second, learn articles with nouns, not after them. Don't memorise "Bett" alone, memorise "das Bett, die Betten". The article and plural come as a package. Question 5 carries 10 marks for exactly this skill.

Third, for W-Fragen, ask "what case does the verb take?" before you answer. Anrufen takes accusative, so "wen" not "wem". Schenken takes dative, so "wem" not "wen". This single habit unlocks the whole question.

Who Should Use This Solved Question Paper

This paper fits you if any of these match.

  • You're a CGL student with the next BGL-001 Term-End Exam in June 2026 or December 2026 and you want a real reference paper to drill on.
  • You're attempting BGL-001 as a backlog and last attempt the W-Fragen and pronoun blocks tripped you up.
  • You're a working professional learning German alongside your job, balancing Goethe practice with IGNOU exam prep, and you want a focused resource you can revise during your commute.
  • You're tired of free PDFs that translate German wrongly and you want one verified version with a tutor behind it.

Why This is Better Than Free PDFs and Telegram Files

Free PDFs are everywhere. Telegram channels, WhatsApp groups, random Drive links shared by seniors. Most have wrong gender assignments, missing umlauts, and Hindi-glossed translations that miss the point of A1 grammar. They cost you nothing, and that's exactly what they're worth in the exam.

Here's what's different. Every answer is checked against the BGL 001 German Language Course-I Solved Question Paper standard and the official IGNOU CGL syllabus. Articles, plurals, verb stems, all verified. Grammar notes are added wherever a tricky pattern shows up.

You also get a real human tutor you can email. Stuck on dative versus accusative the night before? Write back. Free PDFs don't reply auf Deutsch.

Student Reviews

Aman, Delhi. Working at a German automotive supplier and chasing CGL on weekends. The W-Fragen breakdown for accusative versus dative finally gave me the trick I'd been missing. Cleared BGL-001 in one go.

Riya, Bangalore. First-time learner, started German for a Master's plan in Munich. The dates-in-words section with the irregular ordinals (siebte, achte, dritte) was exactly the cheat sheet I needed.

Kabir, Pune. Backlog student, second attempt at BGL-001. The articles and plurals table answer was structured so cleanly I memorised all five forms in one sitting. No fluff, no padding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the actual December 2025 paper or a guessed version?

Yes, this is the actual IGNOU paper from December 2025. We work only with verified Term-End Examination papers, never reconstructed or rumour-based versions floating in Telegram groups. The questions you'll see in Section 7 of this page match the original word for word, including the Internationale WΓΆrter grid and the Personalpronomen dialogues. Cross-check it against any classmate's question paper from the December 2025 cycle.

How useful is this for my 2026 Term-End Exam?

Very useful, because IGNOU rotates a steady pool of A1 grammar exercises across cycles. Date conversion, verb conjugation, W-Fragen, articles and plurals, and Personalpronomen appear in nearly every paper with small variations. If your Term-End Exam falls in June 2026 or later, working through this December 2025 paper exposes you to the actual exercise types and weighting. Pair it with a Goethe A1 workbook for full coverage.

Are all the long questions and internal choices fully solved?

Yes, every exercise is fully solved. That covers all seven dates in Question 1, all ten international words from the grid in Question 2, all seven verb conjugations in Question 3, all five W-Fragen in Question 4, all five article-plural rows in Question 5, all ten Personalpronomen blanks in Question 6, and all six sentence rearrangements in Question 7. Quick grammar notes accompany the trickier sub-parts so you understand the why, not just the answer.

Can I use these answers in my IGNOU assignments?

Use it as a reference, not a copy-paste source. The answers here are exam-style fills and short forms, while CGL assignments expect slightly fuller sentences and short writing tasks. Lift the grammar logic, the gender-plural pairings, and the verb endings, then expand each into full sentences for your TMA. That way you actually learn the patterns, and your assignment stays original.

How quickly do I receive the solved paper after payment?

Instant. The moment your payment goes through, the PDF link arrives in your registered email and on the success page. Most students download it in under two minutes. If anything gets stuck because of a network issue or wrong email entry, our support team resends it manually within working hours. No overnight wait, no chasing follow-ups, no missing files when your exam is days away.

What if there's an issue or I need a refund?

If the file fails to download or the content doesn't match what's described on this page, write to us within 48 hours and we'll either fix the issue or refund the full amount. Doubt clearing on specific German grammar points, including dative versus accusative or stem-changing verbs, is included free. Just email us with the question number. Our team replies on working days, usually within the same day for paid resources.
