What the BSSS-183 Solved Question Paper June 2026 covers
BSSS-183 Life Skills is a 4-credit Skill Enhancement Course from IGNOU's School of Social Sciences, studied in the BAG, BAM, BSCM and BCOMF undergraduate programmes. It teaches everyday civic, digital, money and governance know-how that a graduate needs outside the classroom.
The June 2026 BSSS-183 Question Paper runs to 24 printed pages in English and Hindi. It has 50 compulsory multiple choice questions of one mark each, answered on an OMR sheet in 2 hours. There are no long answers, so every mark depends on picking one exact option.
The questions move fast across the syllabus: the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956, the Domestic Violence Act 2005, a court decree, first aid, the RPwD Act 2016, gender stereotypes, cloud computing, firewalls, NEFT, SIP, the District Forest Officer, Udyam registration, SVAMITVA, UIDAI, PMJDY and SEBI all appear in one sitting.
That spread is why students lose marks here. Many items hinge on a single word in an expansion (Wi-Fi, SIP, UIDAI, SEBI) or on a NOT twist, as in Q5, Q18 and Q49. Our solved file settles each one with the option number and a reason you can remember on exam day.
Full forms alone: Q17 CPU, Q19 Wi-Fi, Q29 NEFT, Q32 SIP, Q43 ASHA, Q44 MNREGA, Q48 UIDAI and Q50 SEBI = 8 of the 50 marks, 16 per cent of the paper, from expansions you can learn in one sitting.
BSSS-183 Life Skills sample answers: Q9 and Q45 solved in full
Two of the 50 June 2026 questions are solved below with the correct option and full reasoning; the other 48 are answered only in the paid file.
We picked Q9 and Q45 because both topics have come up in earlier sessions too, so the reasoning helps beyond this one paper. The question text and options are reproduced exactly as printed in the official paper.
Disability: asked in all 3 papers Block 1, Unit 4 1 mark
Question 9 (Block 1, Unit 4 Disability)
Q9. What is the definition of 'Benchmark Disability' under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016? 1
(1) A temporary disability lasting for six months
(2) A disability where the impairment is at least 40% or more, as certified by a medical authority
(3) A condition that only affects vision
(4) A minor disability that does not affect daily life
Correct answer: Option (2). A benchmark disability is a specified disability of at least 40 per cent, as certified by the certifying (medical) authority.
Explanation. Section 2(r) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 defines a "person with benchmark disability" as a person with not less than 40 per cent of a specified disability. Where a disability is defined in measurable terms, the certified measure applies. The certificate is issued by a certifying authority, which is why option (2) mentions a medical authority.
The 40 per cent mark matters because the Act ties its main entitlements to it. Section 32 reserves at least 5 per cent of seats in government and government-aided higher education institutions for persons with benchmark disabilities, and Section 34 reserves at least 4 per cent of vacancies in government posts. Section 31 gives every child with a benchmark disability aged 6 to 18 the right to education without fees.
Why the other options are wrong. Option (1) fails because the Act deals with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments, not a six-month condition. Option (3) fails because the Act covers 21 specified disabilities, from locomotor disability and hearing impairment to intellectual disability and blood disorders such as thalassaemia, not vision alone. Option (4) describes the opposite of what the term means.
Exam note. The same unit gave June 2025 Q7 (number of disability types) and Q9 (UDID), and December 2025 Q6 to Q9 (medical approach, thalassaemia, NHFDC, paraplegia). Expect at least two or three disability questions in every BSSS-183 paper.
SVAMITVA: also June 2025 Block 4, Unit 13 1 mark
Question 45 (Block 4, Unit 13 Services at Local Level)
Q45. Scheme for establishment of clear ownership of property in rural areas, by mapping of land parcels using drone technology and providing 'Record of Rights' to village household owners is now known as: 1
(1) Meri Zameen Mera Adhikar
(2) Svamitva Scheme
(3) Main Aur Meri Zameen
(4) Mera Kagaz Mera Adhikar
Correct answer: Option (2). The scheme is SVAMITVA, which stands for Survey of Villages And Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas.
Explanation. SVAMITVA is a Central Sector scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, launched by the Prime Minister on National Panchayati Raj Day, 24 April 2020. Drones survey the inhabited (abadi) land of villages, with the Survey of India as the technology partner, and owners receive property cards that serve as their record of rights.
A legal record of a village house lets the owner use it as collateral for a bank loan, cuts property disputes between neighbours, and helps the Gram Panchayat assess property tax and plan development. That is why the question links drone mapping with "clear ownership" and the "Record of Rights".
Why the other options are wrong. Options (1), (3) and (4) sound like scheme names but are not the official name of any central scheme for drone-based rural property mapping. They are distractors built from the same words, so the safe method is to remember the acronym and its expansion.
Exam note. IGNOU asked about SVAMITVA in June 2025 as well (Q22), there framed as surveying land parcels to update the records of rights. Two appearances in three sessions make it a scheme worth memorising along with MGNREGA and Jan Dhan.

BSSS-183 June 2026 paper pattern and unit-wise question spread
The BSSS-183 June 2026 paper has 50 compulsory objective questions of one mark each, answered on an OMR sheet in 2 hours for 50 marks.
| Feature | June 2026 paper |
|---|---|
| Total questions | 50, all compulsory |
| Marks per question | 1 (total 50) |
| Time allowed | 2 hours |
| Answer method | Write the option serial number on the OMR sheet and mark the matching rectangle |
| If no option is right | Write 0 and mark column 0 |
| Language | English and Hindi in the same booklet, 24 printed pages |
The 0 rule is unusual. IGNOU lets you mark column 0 if you think none of the four options is correct. In the June 2026 paper every question had a correct option among the four, so treat 0 as a last resort, not a safe guess.
The same 50-question format was used in June 2025 and December 2025. You can compare older sessions on our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper page.
| Block | Unit | Questions | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Block 1 | Unit 1 Universal Human Values | None | 0 |
| Block 1 | Unit 2 Legal Awareness | Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 | 4 |
| Block 1 | Unit 3 Public Health | Q5, Q6, Q41, Q43 | 4 |
| Block 1 | Unit 4 Disability | Q7, Q8, Q9 | 3 |
| Block 1 | Unit 5 Gender Sensitisation | Q10, Q11, Q12 | 3 |
| Block 2 | Unit 6 Information and Communication Technology | Q13, Q14, Q15 | 3 |
| Block 2 | Unit 7 Digital Computer Skills | Q16, Q17, Q18, Q19, Q20 | 5 |
| Block 2 | Unit 8 Cyber Security | Q21, Q22, Q23, Q24 | 4 |
| Block 2 | Unit 9 Digital Ethics and Etiquettes | Q25, Q26, Q27 | 3 |
| Block 3 | Unit 10 Banking and Finance | Q28, Q29, Q30, Q49 | 4 |
| Block 3 | Unit 11 Savings and Investment Options | Q31, Q32, Q33, Q50 | 4 |
| Block 4 | Unit 12 Services at District Level | Q34, Q35, Q36, Q37 | 4 |
| Block 4 | Unit 13 Services at Local Level | Q44, Q45, Q46, Q47 | 4 |
| Block 4 | Unit 14 Services: Other Agencies | Q38, Q39, Q40, Q42, Q48 | 5 |
| Block 5 | Unit 15 Exploring Career Opportunities | None | 0 |
| Block 5 | Unit 16 Self-Employment | None | 0 |
| Block 5 | Unit 17 Preparing for Interview and CV | None | 0 |
Block 2 Digital Skills carried the most weight in June 2026 with 15 of 50 questions, followed by Block 1 Civic Awareness with 14, Block 4 Governance with 13 and Block 3 Financial Literacy with 8. Unit 1 Universal Human Values and Block 5 Career Skills (Units 15 to 17) gave no question.
14 + 15 + 8 + 13 + 0 = 50. Per unit studied, the order changes: Block 4 gives 13 ÷ 3 = 4.3 questions a unit, Block 3 gives 8 ÷ 2 = 4.0, Block 2 gives 15 ÷ 4 = 3.75 and Block 1 gives 14 ÷ 5 = 2.8. Units 12 to 14 and 10 to 11 return the most marks for the reading they need. 13 of the 17 units fed a question.
The paper follows unit order for most of its length: Q1 to Q4 are Unit 2, Q5 and Q6 Unit 3, Q7 to Q9 Unit 4, Q10 to Q12 Unit 5, and so on through Unit 12 at Q34 to Q37. Disability has sat at Q6 to Q9 in all three papers we read. Q38 onwards mixes Units 3, 10, 11, 13 and 14.
Time plan: 120 minutes ÷ 50 = 2.4 minutes a question. Full-form and definition items take well under a minute, which leaves time to read the three NOT questions (Q5, Q18, Q49) and the "what is true" items (Q36 to Q38) twice.
Most repeated BSSS-183 topics across three term-end papers
Disability law, cybercrime offences, sexual harassment, fund transfer systems and CPU or ICT full forms appeared in both earlier BSSS-183 papers we checked, June 2025 and December 2025, and again in June 2026.
We built this table only from official papers on ignou.ac.in that we could read in full: June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026. The December 2024 file on the IGNOU site is a scanned image we could not read, and we found no June 2024 paper, so neither is counted.
IGNOU reuses exact items in this course. The safe browsing question, the IT Act cybercrime question, the URL expansion and the DDoS, man in the middle and clickjacking question appeared word for word in both June 2025 and December 2025. Learning the reasoning once pays off in later sessions.
For likely questions in your next sitting, use this table along with our IGNOU Solved Guess Paper collection.
| Topic | June 2025 | December 2025 | Earlier papers (of 2) | June 2026 |

| Aadhaar and UIDAI | Q25 | Not asked | 1 | Q48 |
| Jan Dhan accounts and the JAM trinity | Not asked | Q24, Q25 | 1 | Q49 |
The original 18 rows were all topics June 2026 asked, so they showed no gaps. The two verbatim items added from the paragraph above, URL expansion and the DDoS, man in the middle and clickjacking question, were each printed identically in June 2025 and December 2025 and then dropped in June 2026. They are the clearest negative space on this page.
The window holds one June and one December paper, so no June-against-December comparison is possible.
Topics to revise first for December 2026
In a 50-question paper most topics come back; the December list is about items that were asked identically before and then dropped, and units that have never been tested.
- URL expansion and the DDoS, man in the middle and clickjacking question (Units 7 and 8): both printed word for word in June 2025 and December 2025, both dropped in June 2026.
- Other 2025 items June 2026 did not ask: phishing and the CIA triad, the Internet of Things, KYC and the passbook, ULIPs and fixed deposits, PAN, passport and Common Service Centres, cis-gender identity and the geriatric population. The syllabus table above lists them under topics asked from June 2025 to June 2026; their exact sessions still need checking.
- Disability (Unit 4): three or four questions in every paper, always at Q6 to Q9. Learn the 21 disabilities, the 40 per cent benchmark, UDID and the reservation percentages.
- Full forms across the course: eight marks in June 2026 came from expansions. Keep a list of every acronym in Units 3, 7, 10, 11, 13 and 14.
- Unit 1 and Block 5 (Units 15 to 17): no question in any of the three papers. Read them once, since a new paper could start drawing on them.
How our BSSS-183 Life Skills answers are written and checked
Every BSSS-183 answer is checked against the matching unit of the IGNOU self learning material and, for laws, schemes and full forms, against the official source.
We started from the official June 2026 paper of BSSS-183 and solved each question in order. For legal items such as the RPwD Act 2016, the PWDVA 2005 and the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956, we read the relevant section of the Act. For banking and scheme items such as NEFT, SIP, PMJDY and SVAMITVA, we used the issuing body's own description.
Each answer gives the option number first, so you can match it to your OMR sheet, then a two or three line reason and a note on why the tempting wrong option fails. That format suits this paper, where distractors are often near-copies of the right expansion.
The answers are written by Prateek Talwar, Academic Head of Unnati Educations, who has counselled IGNOU students since 2016, and reviewed by Sheetal Kirola (M.Ed.), who checks every option and explanation before the file is released.

How many questions and marks are in the BSSS-183 June 2026 paper?
The BSSS-183 June 2026 term-end paper has 50 objective questions, and every question carries one mark, so the paper is worth 50 marks. All questions are compulsory and the time allowed is 2 hours. The paper is printed in both English and Hindi across 24 pages, and answers are marked only on the OMR sheet.
What does writing 0 on the OMR sheet mean in BSSS-183?
The BSSS-183 instructions allow a fifth response. If you feel none of the four given options is correct, you write 0 under that question number and mark column 0 on the OMR sheet. Use it with care: in the June 2026 paper every question we solved had a correct option among the four printed choices.
How many credits is BSSS-183 Life Skills and how is it assessed?
BSSS-183 Life Skills is a 4-credit Skill Enhancement Course, according to IGNOU's own assignment booklet. You submit two Tutor Marked Assignments, which carry 30 per cent weightage in the final result, while the term-end examination carries 70 per cent. The term-end paper itself is a 50-mark objective test of 50 questions answered on an OMR sheet.
Which BSSS-183 topics repeat most often in term-end papers?
Across the June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026 BSSS-183 papers, disability law under the RPwD Act 2016, cybercrime offences, sexual harassment, fund transfer systems such as NEFT and RTGS, CPU and ICT full forms, cloud computing and property documents appeared in all three. Some questions were even reused word for word, such as the safe browsing practice question.
Which IGNOU programmes include BSSS-183 Life Skills?
IGNOU's BSSS-183 assignment booklet lists the course for all undergraduate programmes: CBCS BAG and Honours, plus the four-year Majors, BAM, BSCM and BCOMF. The June 2026 question paper header itself names the Bachelor of Arts (General, Honours, Major and Multidisciplinary). eGyanKosh also files the course as a Skill Enhancement Course under Honours streams such as BAPSH and BAPCH.
Is Block 5 Career Skills asked in the BSSS-183 exam?
In the three BSSS-183 papers we read, June 2025, December 2025 and June 2026, almost no question came directly from Block 5 Career Skills. The June 2026 paper drew all 50 questions from Blocks 1 to 4. Do not skip Block 5 completely, though, because IGNOU can change the spread in any session and the block is part of the official syllabus.
Which two BSSS-183 June 2026 questions are solved on this page?
This page solves BSSS-183 June 2026 Question 9, on the meaning of benchmark disability under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, and Question 45, on the drone-based scheme that gives rural households a record of rights. Both answers show the correct option and explain why the other three options fail. The remaining 48 answers are in the full file.

Prateek Talwar, Academic Head, solved the paper and led the analysis on this page: the per-unit question rates that put Block 4 and Block 3 ahead of Block 2, the finding that the paper runs in unit order with disability always at Q6 to Q9, the count of eight full-form questions, the restated repeat table with the two verbatim 2025 items that June 2026 dropped, and the December 2026 shortlist.
Sheetal Kirola reviewed the page. She checked the RPwD Act 2016 provisions used in Q9 (Section 2(r) and the 40 per cent benchmark, Section 31 on free education from 6 to 18, Section 32 on 5 per cent of higher-education seats and Section 34 on 4 per cent of government vacancies, and the 21 specified disabilities), the SVAMITVA expansion, its 24 April 2020 launch under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Survey of India's role, the unit-wise count of all 50 questions against the file index, and the 5-block, 17-unit structure.
