What the ECO 001 Solved Question Paper June 2026 covers

ECO 001 Solved Question Paper for June 2026 gives complete, exam-length answers to all 8 questions that IGNOU set in the ECO 001 Business Organisation term-end paper.

ECO 001 Business Organisation is the IGNOU commerce course that explains how businesses are formed, financed, marketed and regulated, and it sits in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme as an elective commerce course and in BCA as a compulsory foundation course.

The June 2026 paper leaned heavily on Block 1. Three of the eight questions, on partnership, choice of form and entrepreneurship, come from the opening block, while finance, marketing and public enterprise take one or two questions each. That tilt is useful to know when you plan which five questions to attempt.

This is also the first paper to print the code as ECO-001. Every earlier ECO 01 paper we checked, including June 2025 and December 2025, used the two-digit code, so do not let the new label confuse you while searching for practice papers.

BCA learners sit exactly the same paper, so if you are collecting every BCA Question Paper for your first semester, this solved file fills the business course gap alongside your computing papers.

ECO 001 sample answers: Questions 1 and 2 solved in full

Questions 1 and 2 of the June 2026 ECO 001 paper are solved below in full, exactly at the length a 10-mark IGNOU answer needs.

Both questions are reproduced word for word from the official paper, with the marks printed against them. Read them as a sample of how the remaining six answers in the paid file are written.

Sample 1 Question 1 10 marks

Question 1. What is Partnership ? How does it differ from a Joint Stock Company ? (3, 7)

Question 1. What is Partnership ? How does it differ from a Joint Stock Company ? (3, 7)

Meaning of partnership (3 marks)

Partnership is a form of business organisation in which two or more persons agree to carry on a lawful business together and share its profits. Section 4 of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 defines it as β€œthe relation between persons who have agreed to share the profits of a business carried on by all or any of them acting for all”.

The persons who enter into partnership are individually called partners and collectively a firm, and the name under which they trade is the firm name. Its essential features are:

  • Agreement: partnership arises from a contract, oral or written, usually recorded in a partnership deed, and not from status or birth.
  • Two or more persons: at least two partners are needed; the Companies (Miscellaneous) Rules, 2014 cap the number at 50.
  • Lawful business and sharing of profits: the partners must run a business with the aim of sharing its profits.
  • Mutual agency: the business may be carried on by all partners or any of them acting for all, so each partner is both a principal and an agent of the others.
  • Unlimited liability: every partner is personally liable for the debts of the firm, jointly and severally.

Partnership and joint stock company compared (7 marks)

A joint stock company is a voluntary association of persons incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, with a separate legal existence, perpetual succession and capital divided into transferable shares. The two forms differ on the following points:

ECO 001 Question 1: differences between partnership and joint stock company
Basis Partnership Joint stock company
Governing lawIndian Partnership Act, 1932Companies Act, 2013
FormationSimple agreement; registration of the firm is optionalIncorporation with the Registrar of Companies is compulsory
Legal statusNo separate legal entity; firm and partners are the same in lawSeparate legal person, distinct from its members
Number of membersMinimum 2, maximum 50Private: 2 to 200; public: minimum 7, no upper limit
LiabilityUnlimited, joint and severalUsually limited to the unpaid value of shares held
Transfer of interestNot possible without consent of all partnersShares of a public company can be transferred easily
ContinuityDeath, insolvency or retirement of a partner may dissolve the firmPerpetual succession; members may change, the company continues
ManagementEvery partner may take part in running the businessManaged by an elected Board of Directors, separate from shareholders
CapitalLimited to partners’ contributions and borrowingsLarge capital raised from the public through shares and debentures
Regulation and secrecyFew legal formalities; accounts need not be publishedHeavy regulation; audited accounts and returns must be filed

Conclusion: partnership suits medium-sized businesses that need more capital and skill than a sole trader can provide but still value close control and privacy. The joint stock company suits large undertakings because limited liability, transferable shares and perpetual succession let it raise capital on a scale no firm can match.

Sample 2 Question 2 10 marks

Question 2. Explain the factors determining the choice of the form of business organisation. (10)

Question 2. Explain the factors determining the choice of the form of business organisation. (10)

No single form of business organisation is ideal for every enterprise. A sole trader, partnership, cooperative society or company each has its own strengths, and the promoter must weigh the following factors before deciding which form best suits the proposed business.

  1. Nature of business: businesses giving direct personal service, such as a tailoring shop or a clinic, suit sole proprietorship, while heavy manufacturing, banking or insurance needs the company form.
  2. Scale of operations: a small business serving a local market can run as a sole trader or firm; a business planning large-scale production for national or global markets usually needs a company.
  3. Capital requirement: a sole trader depends on personal savings and borrowing, a firm pools the funds of partners, and a company can raise large capital from the public through shares and debentures.
  4. Extent of liability: the sole trader and partners face unlimited liability, so risky ventures prefer the company form, where shareholders’ liability is limited to their shares.
  5. Degree of control: a sole trader keeps full control and partners share it, while in a company ownership and management are separated and control rests with the Board of Directors.
  6. Continuity and stability: the death or insolvency of a sole trader or partner can end the business, but a company enjoys perpetual succession, which matters for long-term projects.
  7. Flexibility of operations: a sole trader or firm can change its line of business quickly, whereas a company must act within its Memorandum and Articles of Association.
  8. Ease of formation: a sole proprietorship needs almost no formalities and a firm needs only an agreement, but a company must complete incorporation and keep meeting legal requirements.
  9. Government regulation and secrecy: companies must file audited accounts and annual returns, which become public, while a sole trader or firm can keep business affairs private.
  10. Tax considerations: individuals, firms and companies are taxed differently, so the after-tax profit expected under each form also shapes the decision.
  11. Transferability of interest: an owner who may later wish to sell or pass on the business finds company shares far easier to transfer than a share in a partnership.

Conclusion: the choice of form is a balance between the owner’s need for capital, control, safety and continuity. Many businesses start as sole proprietorships or partnerships and convert into companies as they grow, so the choice should be reviewed whenever the scale or risk of the business changes.

How our ECO 001 answers are written and checked

Every ECO 001 answer is written to the marks printed against it and checked by a commerce reviewer before the file is released.

Prateek Talwar writes the answers after reading the five ECO 001 blocks and the previous papers listed above. A 3-mark opening gets a definition plus the key features, and a 7-mark second part gets at least seven distinct, headed points, as in the partnership table above.

Sheetal Kirola then checks legal references, such as the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 and the Companies Act, 2013, against the current law, so you never repeat an outdated rule from an old guide. Tables are used wherever a question asks you to compare or differentiate.

The IGNOU ECO 001 Solved Question Paper keeps the language simple and exam-ready, with short headed points you can reproduce in 24 minutes. The aim is not only to pass ECO 001 but to understand why businesses choose one form, one source of finance or one channel over another.

Programmes that include ECO 001 Business Organisation

ECO 001 Business Organisation is a shared course, so learners from several IGNOU programmes sit the same paper.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Programme (BDP): taken as an elective commerce course, which is the heading printed on the June 2026 paper.
  • Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA): taken in the first semester alongside the opening computing courses.
  • Certificate in Business Skills (CBS): IGNOU’s assignment booklet for this course names CBS on its cover.
  • Advanced Diploma in Retailing (ADIR): retail learners take ECO 001 to build the business basics, such as forms of organisation and distribution channels, that the retail courses rely on.

If you are enrolled in the IGNOU Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), ECO 001 is often the only commerce paper in your first year, so a solved file saves you time you can spend on programming courses.

ECO 001 Business Organisation FAQs

Quick answers to what students most often ask about the ECO 001 June 2026 solved paper.

What does the ECO 001 Solved Question Paper June 2026 contain?

It contains complete answers to all 8 questions of the June 2026 ECO 001 Business Organisation paper. This page shows Questions 1 and 2 in full, and the remaining 6 answers, from entrepreneurship to public enterprises, are only in the full file. Each answer follows the printed marks split, such as 3 and 7 or 4 and 6, so you know how much to write for every part.

How do I get the full ECO 001 Business Organisation solved file on WhatsApp?

Send a message to WhatsApp 9899436384 with the code ECO 001 and the session June 2026. Our team replies with the price and payment details, and the complete PDF with all 8 answers reaches you on WhatsApp after payment. Two answers are already on this page, so the file adds the 6 answers for Questions 3 to 8 that are not shown here.

Is ECO 001 the same course as ECO 01 Business Organisation?

Yes. Older IGNOU papers, such as June 2023, June 2025 and December 2025, print the code as ECO-01, while the June 2026 paper prints ECO-001. The course title, the 50-mark pattern and the block structure are the same, so previous ECO 01 papers remain valid practice material for anyone preparing ECO 001 Business Organisation for the coming term-end exam.

How many questions must I attempt in the ECO 001 exam?

You must attempt any five of the eight questions, and every question carries 10 marks, giving a total of 50 marks in 2 hours. That leaves roughly 24 minutes for each answer. In the June 2026 ECO 001 paper, six questions were split 3 and 7, one was split 4 and 6, and only Question 2 was a single 10-mark essay.

Which ECO 001 Business Organisation topics repeat most often?

Across the four official papers we checked, sources of business finance, public enterprises and forms of business organisation appeared in every one of them. Government control over business, foreign trade, banking, insurance and capital markets each appeared in three. Banking and insurance were missing from June 2026, which makes them strong ECO 001 topics to revise before the December 2026 exam.

Who writes and checks the ECO 001 solved answers?

Prateek Talwar writes the ECO 001 answers and Sheetal Kirola, our commerce subject reviewer, checks every one before the file is released. They match each answer to the five ECO 001 blocks, check legal references against the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 and the Companies Act, 2013, and confirm that the word length suits the marks printed against each part of the question.

Is the ECO 001 paper the same for BCA and B.Com students?

Yes. ECO 001 Business Organisation is a common course, so BCA, BDP B.Com, CBS and other enrolled learners sit the same term-end paper with the same eight questions. The June 2026 paper is printed under the Bachelor’s Degree Programme heading as an elective commerce course. One solved file therefore works for every programme that includes ECO 001 in its scheme.
