1. What Is the MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper for Advanced Social Psychology?
The MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper is an 11-page PDF containing 12 IGNOU-style questions with complete written answers, selected by analysing the last five MPC-004 Advanced Social Psychology Term-End papers from June 2023 to December 2025.
MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper buyers usually come to us three or four weeks before the exam with the same problem. The MPC-004 book is four blocks and sixteen units thick, the paper is only two hours long, and nobody has told them which twenty topics actually decide the fifty marks. Reading everything is not a plan. Reading the right twelve things, in the exact shape the examiner wants them, is.
That is all this product is. We sat with five past papers of Advanced Social Psychology, marked every topic that repeated, marked every topic that has been quiet for a session or two and is due to return, and wrote out twelve model answers on those topics — each one starting with a definition and a scholar's name, each one closing with an evaluative line, each one already trimmed to the word count that its mark value demands.
It is written for the person doing MPC-004 as part of the Master of Arts (Psychology) [MAPC] programme, usually alongside a job or a family, who has a fortnight and not a semester. If you want to see the wider set we maintain for other codes, the IGNOU Solved Guess Paper library is where the rest of them sit.
One honest line before you scroll: this is a guess paper, not a leaked paper. Nobody can promise you the exact question. What we can promise is that the twelve topics inside are the twelve that history says are most likely, and that the answers are good enough to write from memory in the hall.
2. Free Sample — 5 Solved Questions from the MPC 004 Advanced Social Psychology Guess Paper
Five of the twelve answers are printed in full below — two 10-mark, two 6-mark and one 3-mark — so you can check our writing quality before paying anything. The remaining seven come with the complete PDF.
Read the structure, not just the content. Notice that every answer follows the same skeleton: definition with the scholar's name → numbered points → conclusion. That skeleton is what turns a half-remembered topic into a full-mark answer.
Nature, Concept and Historical Development of Social Psychology
Exam question (IGNOU style): Discuss the nature and concept of Social Psychology and trace the historical development and emergence of Modern Social Psychology.
Meaning of Social Psychology
"The scientific study of the experience and behaviour of individuals in relation to other individuals, groups and culture." — Floyd Allport (1924)
Social psychology studies how people think about, influence and relate to one another. Its sphere is social; its focus stays on the individual inside a social situation.
Nature of Social Psychology
- Scientific in nature: it follows a three-step process — careful observation, ordered integration into general principles, and use of those principles to predict future observations (McDavid & Harari).
- Studies experience and behaviour: it covers observable behaviour as well as inner states such as emotion and thought. Kurt Lewin (1951) put this as B = f(P, E) — behaviour is a function of the person and the environment.
- Studies the causes of social behaviour: Baron & Byrne list five most-studied factors — actions of others, basic cognitive processes, ecological variables, cultural context and biological aspects.
Historical Development and Emergence
- James Mark Baldwin's Social and Ethical Interpretation in Mental Development (1897) is regarded as one of the first systematic manuals.
- 1908 marks the final emergence of the discipline, with two textbooks titled Social Psychology — one by William McDougall (instinct theory) and one by the sociologist Edward A. Ross (imitation and suggestion).
- Norman Triplett's 1897 experiment on the "dynamogenic effects of pace making" was the first study of how the presence of others affects performance.
- Floyd Allport demonstrated the social facilitation effect and published the first experimental textbook in 1924.
- Kurt Lewin, who set up the Research Centre for Group Dynamics at MIT in 1948, is often called the father of applied social psychology.
Conclusion: Social psychology is therefore the scientific study of individual behaviour in a social and cultural context, matured from early instinct and imitation theories into a rigorous experimental discipline.
Conformity and Asch's Experiment
Exam question (IGNOU style): Explain conformity and discuss Asch's experiment on conformity along with the factors found to increase conformity.
Meaning of Conformity
"Conformity is the process by which an individual's attitudes, beliefs and behaviours are conditioned by what others might perceive." — Aronson et al. (2007)
Conformity works in small groups and in society at large, through subtle unconscious influence or through open pressure, and even through the "implied presence" of others. People conform largely out of a desire for security within a group.
Asch's (1951) Experiment
- Solomon E. Asch gave groups of seven to nine students a perceptual task — matching a standard line to one of three comparison lines.
- All members except one were confederates, instructed to give the same wrong answer on 12 of the 18 trials.
- Alone, people were correct 99% of the time. Inside the group, they went along with the wrong answer roughly 75% of the time.
- A single dissenting confederate freed most subjects from the effect, and letting people answer privately in writing destroyed conformity almost completely.
Factors Found to Increase Conformity
- Attractiveness of the other group members — people go along with groups they find appealing.
- Complexity or difficulty of the task — the harder the judgment, the higher the conformity.
- Group cohesiveness — prior friendship and mutual dependence push conformity up.
Types of Social Influence
- Informational social influence: turning to others for accurate information in ambiguous or crisis situations, which produces private acceptance (Sherif's autokinetic study, 1936).
- Normative social influence: conforming in order to be liked and accepted, and to avoid social disapproval.
Conclusion: Asch's classic study therefore shows that group pressure can override clear perception, with conformity rising through task difficulty, cohesion and unanimity — and collapsing the moment one person dissents.
Characteristics, Development and Maintenance of Stereotypes
Exam question (IGNOU style): Describe the characteristics of stereotypes and explain the development and maintenance of stereotypes.
Meaning of Stereotype
"A belief about some particular trait being prevalent among all members of a social group." — Albrecht, Thomas & Chadwick (1980)
The term was first used by Walter Lippmann in his book Public Opinion (1922). A stereotype is a cluster of beliefs, usually without a rational basis, about the members of a group.
Characteristics of Stereotypes
- A widely agreed mental picture used to hand traits to everyone in a category.
- Built on gross and exaggerated generalisation, stretched from a few individuals to all members.
- Resistant to change even against contrary evidence; exceptions get dismissed as exceptional.
- Directional — a stereotype can be positive or negative.
Development and Maintenance
- Inadequate and improper experience: wrong notions from a handful of contacts get generalised to everyone.
- Socialisation: parents, the chief agents, encourage stereotyped thinking in children.
- Imitation: the beliefs and attitudes of the group are copied in order to gain acceptance.
- Traditions and folkways: prevailing customs feed stereotypes and attach social prestige to them.
- Social and cultural distance: distance blocks accurate knowledge, and the gap fills with stereotype.
Conclusion: Stereotypes are thus exaggerated and stubborn generalisations, picked up through faulty experience, socialisation, imitation, tradition and social distance.
Characteristics of a Group and the Five Stages of Group Formation
Exam question (IGNOU style): Discuss the characteristics of a group and explain the five stages of group formation.
Meaning of a Group
"A social group is a given aggregate of people playing inter-related roles and recognised by themselves or others as a unit." — R. M. Williams (1951)
A group is a collection of two or more persons who interact, share common interests and are treated as one unit.
Characteristics of a Group
- A sense of we-feeling and belongingness among the members.
- Common interest and common values that bind them together.
- A feeling of unity, with reciprocal and inter-related relations.
- Control exercised through norms, obligations and mutual expectations.
Five Stages of Group Formation
- Forming: an orientation period of confusion and uncertainty while members get to know one another.
- Storming: the stage of highest disagreement and conflict.
- Norming: individual differences are recognised and shared norms emerge.
- Performing: the matured group works effectively to accomplish its tasks.
- Adjourning: the group disbands once its purpose has been achieved.
Conclusion: A group is therefore a unified body marked by we-feeling, common values and norms, which matures through forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning.
Social Conflict — Nature and Forms
Exam question (IGNOU style): Write a short note on the nature and forms of social conflict.
Meaning of Social Conflict
"Social conflict occurs when two or more actors oppose one another, reciprocally exerting social power to attain scarce or incompatible goals."
Social conflict turns on social power and involves incompatible goals; cooperation and competition usually run through it together.
Forms of Social Conflict
- Overt conflict: open and explicit competition — war, debate — aimed at defeating the opponent.
- Objective conflict: a situation that by its nature benefits some while causing loss to others.
- Subjective conflict: a person perceives the situation as a struggle without ever taking it to an overt level.
Conclusion: Social conflict is thus a power-centred opposition over incompatible goals, expressed in overt, objective and subjective forms.
That is 5 of 12. The remaining 7 solved answers — attribution theory and its errors, aggression, crowd behaviour and its theories, attitude, prejudice and discrimination, theories of pro-social behaviour, and group dynamics — are in the complete PDF. WhatsApp 9899436384 to get it.

Every one of these twelve is answered inside the file. If you have already collected the IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper set for MPC-004, put this list beside it — you will see the overlap yourself.
4. How We Built This MPC 004 Guess Paper from 5 Previous Year Question Papers
We analysed five MPC-004 Term-End papers — June 2023, December 2023, June 2024, June 2025 and December 2025 — tagged every question to its block and unit, and then picked topics on two grounds: high repetition, and recent absence in a topic that historically returns.
Most guess papers are made backwards: somebody picks twenty popular topics and calls it analysis. We work the other way. Every question from those five papers was written into a grid — topic on one axis, session on the other. The grid is printed on the last page of the PDF, and here it is in full, because it is the honest part of the product.

Two patterns jump out of that grid. Characteristics and formation of a group appeared in all five papers — it is the single safest topic in MPC-004. And crowd behaviour has appeared four times in five, which is why it sits in Section A of our paper even though students usually leave it for the last night.
The papers themselves are public. IGNOU hosts them at webservices.ignou.ac.in, and the MPC-004 blocks are on eGyanKosh. We do not ask you to take our frequency claims on faith — go and check two of the rows.
Note on the set: these are the five most recent MPC-004 papers we could source at the time of preparation. Where a session was unavailable to us, we left it out of the grid rather than filling it in by assumption.
5. MPC 004 Exam Pattern, Marking Scheme and Word Limits for Advanced Social Psychology
The MPC-004 Term-End paper is 2 hours and 50 marks, split into three compulsory sections — Section A (any 2 of 4 × 10 marks), Section B (any 4 of 5 × 6 marks) and Section C (any 2 of 3 × 3 marks).
That structure is the whole reason a twelve-question guess paper can work. You are never asked to answer everything. In Section A you write two answers out of four choices; in Section B, four out of five; in Section C, two out of three. Eight answers, total.
| Section | Answer | Marks each | Total | Words per answer | Rough time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Section A | Any 2 of 4 | 10 | 20 | ~450 | 30 min each |
| Section B | Any 4 of 5 | 6 | 24 | ~250 | 12 min each |
| Section C | Any 2 of 3 | 3 | 6 | ~100 | 6 min each |
| Total | 8 answers | — | 50 | — | 120 min |
Three practical things this pattern demands, and all three are built into our answers:
- Do not overwrite. A 450-word answer that runs to 900 words costs you a Section B answer somewhere else. The word counts in this file are hard limits, not suggestions.
- Open with a definition and a name. Heider, Allport, Le Bon, Asch, Lewin, Lippmann. Examiners scan for these before they read the paragraph.
- Close with an evaluative line. One sentence of judgement at the end of each answer is the cheapest mark in the paper, and most students skip it.
Pattern details are confirmed against IGNOU's own published question papers rather than coaching-site summaries; if you want to sanity-check it, pull any recent MPC-004 paper from the university's question-paper archive linked in the section above.
6. MPC 004 Advanced Social Psychology Syllabus — All 4 Blocks and 16 Units
MPC-004 is a 4-credit theory course made of 4 blocks and 16 units; this guess paper draws its 12 questions from 12 of those 16 units.
Use this table two ways. First, to see how much of your book the paper actually covers. Second, to find the four units we deliberately left as backup, so you know exactly where your risk sits.
| Block | Unit | Unit title | Key topics you must be able to name | Covered by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Block 1 — Introduction to Social Psychology | 1 | Nature and Concept of Social Psychology and its relation to other disciplines | Allport's definition, Lewin's B = f(P, E), links with sociology and anthropology | Q1 |
| Block 1 — Introduction to Social Psychology | 2 | Social Cognition: Attribution Theory | Heider 1958, Kelley's covariation, correspondent inference, fundamental attribution error | Q2 |
| Block 1 — Introduction to Social Psychology | 3 | Methods of Social Psychology | Experimental method, survey, ethnographic method, observation | Backup |
| Block 1 — Introduction to Social Psychology | 4 | Current Trends in Social Psychology and Ethical Issues | Cross-cultural trends, informed consent, deception and debriefing | Backup |
| Block 2 — Process of Social Influence | 1 | The Concepts of Social Influence | Conformity, Asch 1951, Sherif's autokinetic study, compliance and obedience | Q4 |
| Block 2 — Process of Social Influence | 2 | Pro-social Behaviour and Factors Contributing to It | Batson's altruism vs egoism, bystander effect, negative-state relief | Q10 |
| Block 2 — Process of Social Influence | 3 | Interpersonal Attraction | Proximity, similarity, physical attractiveness, reciprocity | Backup |
| Block 2 — Process of Social Influence | 4 | Aggression and Violence | Hostile vs instrumental aggression, testosterone and serotonin, frustration-aggression | Q3 |
| Block 3 — Attitudes, Stereotypes, Prejudice and Discrimination | 1 | Introduction to Attitude and Stereotypes | ABC model, valence and multiplexity, Lippmann 1922 | Q6, Q7 |
| Block 3 — Attitudes, Stereotypes, Prejudice and Discrimination | 2 | Formation of Attitude and Attitude Change | Balance theory, cognitive dissonance, persuasion and source credibility | Backup |
| Block 3 — Attitudes, Stereotypes, Prejudice and Discrimination | 3 | Prejudice and Discrimination | Authoritarian personality, scapegoating, status and power structures | Q8 |
| Block 3 — Attitudes, Stereotypes, Prejudice and Discrimination | 4 | Social Conflict and Its Resolution | Overt, objective and subjective conflict, two-dimensional model of resolution | Q12 |
| Block 4 — Group Dynamics | 1 | Introduction to Group, Formation and Types of Group | We-feeling, primary vs secondary groups, forming to adjourning | Q9 |
| Block 4 — Group Dynamics | 2 | Group Dynamics | Lewin's field theory, cohesiveness, group norms and roles | Q11 |
| Block 4 — Group Dynamics | 3 | Social Identity, Crowding and Crowd Behaviour | Le Bon's group mind, convergence theory, Tajfel's social identity | Q5 |
| Block 4 — Group Dynamics | 4 | Cooperation, Competition and Conflicts | Prisoner's dilemma logic, superordinate goals, negotiation | Backup |
The four backup units are not zero-risk, and we would rather say so. Methods of Social Psychology and attitude change both showed up in the frequency grid at medium priority. If you have spare days after finishing the twelve, read those two units once from the MPC 004 Study Material — a single reading is enough for a Section B attempt.
7. MPC 004 and the MAPC Practical File (MPCL-007) — Full Index of What Goes Inside
MPC-004 Advanced Social Psychology is a theory-only course with no practical of its own — the MAPC first-year practical work sits in MPCL-007, the 8-credit practicum in Experimental Psychology and Psychological Testing, and one of its practicals draws on the social-interaction content you study in MPC-004.
This confuses a lot of first-year students, so it is worth two paragraphs. You will not be asked for an MPC-004 practical file at your study centre. What you will be asked for is one bound MPCL-007 practicum notebook, written by hand, in a fixed format, and defended in a viva at the study centre.
Every practical inside that notebook follows the same index. Getting the order wrong is the most common reason files come back for correction:
Standard index of one practical in the MPCL-007 file
- Title page — programme code MAPC, course code MPCL-007, name, enrolment number, study centre, regional centre
- Certificate page, signed by the counsellor
- Index / list of practicals with page numbers
- Problem / Aim — the statement of what is being measured
- Introduction — theoretical background of the concept, with references to the relevant MPC course
- Method — plan of the practical
- Description of the test or apparatus used, with author and year
- Materials required
- Procedure — step by step, in past tense
- Precautions
- Instructions given to the subject and the subject's introspective report
- Results — scoring, raw score converted to the norm table
- Discussion — interpretation of the score against the theory
- Conclusion
- References, in APA style
How MPC-004 feeds into it: the social-behaviour practicals in the file — attitude measurement, sociometry and group-related assessments — are interpreted using the exact concepts in your guess paper: attitude components, group formation stages, group dynamics. Students who have already revised those twelve answers write far better Discussion sections, and viva answers stop being guesswork.
Practical file support for MPCL-007 and the second-year practicums is a separate service from this guess paper. WhatsApp 9899436384 and tell us your specialisation group, and we will tell you what we have.
8. Who Should Buy This MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper — and Who Should Skip It
Buy it if you have two to four weeks left and need MPC-004 answers you can write from memory; skip it if you have a full semester and genuinely intend to read all sixteen units.
We would rather lose a sale than take money from someone this will not help. So, plainly:
This is for you if —
- You are working or managing a home, and MPC-004 gets whatever hours are left over.
- You have the book but keep re-reading Block 1 and never reach Block 4.
- You can write English but cannot judge what an IGNOU examiner counts as a complete answer.
- You are re-appearing in MPC-004 and want to know which topics you keep losing marks on.
- You want Section C short notes ready-made, because those six marks are usually thrown away.
This is not for you if —
- You expect the exact question paper. Nobody has it, and anybody selling it is lying to you.
- You want a 200-page compilation. This is 11 pages of what matters, by design.
- You want assignment solutions — that is a different product, and this paper is not written for assignment submission.
- Your study centre has told you to write in Hindi and you want a Hindi file. Ask us first; this one is in English.
For students taking more than one first-year paper this session, the wider MAPC Guess Paper set covers the other MPC codes on the same method, and most people take three or four together rather than one.
9. 7-Day Revision Plan Using the MPC 004 Advanced Social Psychology Guess Paper
Seven days is enough for MPC-004 if you spend five of them writing rather than reading — roughly two questions a day, then two full mock sittings.
This is the plan we give on WhatsApp when someone messages a week before the exam. It assumes about three hours a day.
| Day | What you do | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Read the exam pattern page, then learn the two Block 1 answers with their dates — 1897, 1908, 1924, 1951 | Q1, Q2 |
| 2 | Aggression and conformity. Write Asch's experiment out by hand once, from memory | Q3, Q4 |
| 3 | Crowd behaviour with all three theories, plus attitude's ABC model | Q5, Q6 |
| 4 | Stereotypes and prejudice together — they share vocabulary and examiners often pair them | Q7, Q8 |
| 5 | Group characteristics, the five stages, pro-social theories | Q9, Q10 |
| 6 | Both short notes, then a timed 2-hour mock using only the guess paper topics | Q11, Q12 + mock |
| 7 | Revise definitions and scholar names only. Re-read your mock and fix the weak conclusions | All 12 |
One rule that matters more than the schedule: write at least four answers by hand before exam day. Reading an answer feels like knowing it. Writing 450 words in thirty minutes is a physical skill, and the first time you attempt it should not be in the examination hall.

11. FAQs — MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper (Advanced Social Psychology)
Is the MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper valid for both June 2026 and December 2026?
Yes. The MPC 004 Solved Guess Paper 2026 is prepared for both the June 2026 and December 2026 Term-End Examinations of Advanced Social Psychology. The topic selection is based on five sessions of past papers, and those patterns do not change between two sittings of the same year.
How many questions are inside the MPC 004 Advanced Social Psychology guess paper?
Twelve, all fully solved — five 10-mark answers, five 6-mark answers and two 3-mark short notes. Five of the twelve are printed free on this page; the other seven come with the complete PDF.
Will the exact same questions come in the MPC 004 exam?
No, and anyone promising that is misleading you. This is a probability-based guess paper for MPC-004 built from frequency analysis, not a leaked paper. Because every section of the MPC-004 paper offers choice, mastering these twelve topics normally gives you enough to attempt all eight required answers.
Are the MPC 004 answers written from the IGNOU book or from the internet?
From the prescribed IGNOU MPC-004 Advanced Social Psychology blocks. Definitions carry the original scholar and year — Allport 1924, Heider 1958, Lippmann 1922, Asch 1951 — so what you write matches what the examiner's key expects.
Can I use this MPC 004 guess paper for my assignment as well?
It is written for the Term-End Examination, not for assignment submission. Assignment questions differ every session and are evaluated separately. Message us on 9899436384 if you need MPC-004 assignment help; that is a different file.
Is there a practical file for MPC 004 Advanced Social Psychology?
No. MPC-004 is a theory course. MAPC first-year practical work is submitted under MPCL-007, the practicum in Experimental Psychology and Psychological Testing, and the social-behaviour practicals in that file use MPC-004 concepts for their interpretation sections.
In which language is the MPC 004 solved guess paper written?
English, in deliberately simple sentences so it can be memorised and reproduced quickly. If you write your MPC-004 exam in Hindi, WhatsApp 9899436384 before ordering and we will tell you what is available for your session.
How long does delivery of the MPC 004 guess paper take after payment?
It is a digital PDF, sent to the same WhatsApp chat on 9899436384, normally within a few hours of payment on the same day. Nothing is couriered and nothing needs to be printed to be usable.
