What You Get in the BPCS 183 Solved Guess Paper 2026

You get one PDF of 17 pages containing 15 examination style questions with 15 fully written model answers, covering all 5 blocks of BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence. The file opens with a contents cover listing all 15 BPCS 183 topics, then runs question by question. Each question sits on its own panel with the block it belongs to, the marks split, the priority band and the sessions in which that topic last appeared.

The answers are not summaries. Each one is written to the length a 10 mark answer actually needs in this paper, roughly 250 to 300 words, and follows a fixed shape that examiners in psychology papers respond well to. A definition in the textbook wording opens the answer, the numbered points form the body, and a short evaluative conclusion closes it. That structure is the reason students tell us the answers are easy to reproduce under time pressure rather than merely pleasant to read.

Terminology is kept exactly as the IGNOU book uses it. Where the book counts things, the counts are carried over without rounding or paraphrase, so you will find the four components of emotional intelligence, the five Bar-On domains, the six Genos competencies, the 141 items of the MSCEIT and the 133 items of the EQ-i stated as the book states them. Scholar names and years travel with each concept, which is where most marks are quietly won.

Alongside the answers the file carries three planning pages built for this Emotional Intelligence paper. A frequency analysis table maps 24 topics against the 6 sessions from June 2023 to December 2025. A priority legend separates high frequency topics such as assertiveness from single appearance ones such as universality of emotional expression.

A short study note then sets out which BPCS 183 topics to over prepare and which to leave as backup. If you want to compare the format across other codes first, our IGNOU Solved Guess Paper collection follows the same layout.

Sample Questions and Answers from the BPCS 183 Guess Paper

Five of the 15 questions are reproduced below in full, one from each block, exactly as they appear in the file. We picked one per block rather than five easy ones so you can judge how the answers hold up across the theory heavy blocks and the application blocks alike. The remaining 10 questions and answers are in the complete file.

Sample 1. Components of EI and benefits, Block 1, 7 + 3 marks

Last appeared in December 2025, December 2024, December 2023 and June 2023. Priority band high.

Explain Emotional Intelligence (EI) in terms of its components. Highlight the benefits of EI.

Meaning of Emotional Intelligence

β€œEmotional intelligence is the capacity for recognising our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships.”

Components of Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence can be viewed as having four interrelated components:

  1. Perceiving emotions: the basic ability to register and recognise emotions in oneself and others by reading facial expressions and body language.
  2. Understanding emotions: using the information that various emotions provide and knowing how they might affect behaviour.
  3. Managing emotions: changing one’s own and others’ emotions, such as using relaxation to calm anger or comforting a sad person.
  4. Using emotions: leveraging emotions to enhance thinking, decision-making and relationships, e.g. channelling anger at injustice into constructive action.

Benefits of Emotional Intelligence

  1. Allows individuals to tap into thinking capacities as well as the strengths emotions bring.
  2. Takes a realistic, practical view of emotions instead of unhealthy suppression.
  3. Facilitates understanding of self and others beyond superficial information, and enables empathy.
  4. Adds competitive advantage over cognitive intelligence and grants more agency over which emotions to experience.

Conclusion: The four components of perceiving, understanding, managing and using emotions together define EI, whose benefits span personal relationships to professional success.

Sample 2. Emotional Competence Model and domains, Block 2, 4 + 6 marks

Last appeared in December 2024, June 2024 and June 2023. Priority band high.

Explain the Emotional Competence Model. Discuss the personal and social competence domains of emotional competencies.

Meaning of Emotional Competence

β€œEmotional competence is a learned capability based on emotional intelligence that results in outstanding performance at work.”

The Emotional Competence Model

The model of emotional competence was given by Goleman (1995). It focuses on behaviours that lead to performance and categorises competencies into five categories: (1) self-awareness, (2) motivation, (3) self-regulation, (4) social awareness and empathy, and (5) social skills.

The Two Domains of Emotional Competence

The domain of emotional competence is divided into two broad areas, Personal Competence and Social Competence:

Personal and social competence domains in the Goleman emotional competence model
DomainComponents
Personal CompetenceBased on recognising one’s own emotions and maintaining control: Self-awareness, Motivation, and Self-regulation.
Social CompetenceBased on recognising emotions in others and responding appropriately: Social awareness and Empathy, and Social skills.

Personal competence forms the basis for social competence; together they reflect the expression of underlying emotional intelligence.

Conclusion: Goleman’s five-category model groups emotional competencies into personal and social domains, showing how learned competencies built on EI drive performance.

Sample 3. Ability model of emotional intelligence, Block 3, 10 marks

Last appeared in June 2025, June 2024 and June 2023. Priority band high.

Explain the ability model of emotional intelligence.

Meaning of the Ability Model

β€œThe ability to perceive emotions, to access and generate emotions so as to assist thought, to understand emotions and emotional meanings, and to reflectively regulate emotions in ways that promote emotional and intellectual growth.”

It is a four-branch framework that defines EI as an ability rather than a trait. It views EI as a broad "hot" intelligence concerned with processing personal information, and is a step-wise developmental model proceeding from basic to complex skills.

The Four Branches

  1. Emotional Perception: identifying emotions in faces, pictures and body language, the most basic, early-developing branch.
  2. Emotional Facilitation: the capacity of emotions to assist thinking, prioritising thought and aiding judgement and decisions.
  3. Emotional Understanding: analysing and making sense of emotions by labelling and differentiating among them.
  4. Emotional Management: the most complex branch, regulating emotions to optimise reactions and enhance personal and interpersonal effectiveness.

Assessment Tool

EI here is measured as a mental ability through performance testing. The Mayer, Salovey, Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), with 141 items and eight tasks, assesses each branch and yields a total EI score.

Conclusion: The ability model treats EI as a genuine, measurable intelligence built of four developmental branches, assessed objectively through the MSCEIT.

Sample 4. Assertiveness and strategies, Block 4, 5 + 5 marks

Last appeared in December 2025, June 2025, December 2024 and June 2023. Priority band high.

Explain the meaning and importance of assertiveness. Discuss the strategies to develop assertiveness.

Meaning and Importance of Assertiveness

β€œBeing able to disagree with others without resorting to emotional sabotage or subterfuge, and being able to walk a fine line, defending their wishes while, at the same time, respecting another person’s point of view and being sensitive to their needs.”

Assertiveness means asserting one’s rights and speaking up for what one thinks and feels, without disregarding the rights of others.

Importance

  1. It consists of five C’s, Clear, Concise, Confidence, Courage and Controlled.
  2. It respects the needs of self and others, exemplifying "Live and Let Live".
  3. It lies on a continuum, with passiveness on one end and aggressiveness on the other; the assertive middle path benefits physical and mental health.

Strategies to Develop Assertiveness

  1. Be aware of one’s emotions: know one’s own feelings and wishes first.
  2. Be aware of others’ emotions: balance the needs of self and others.
  3. Focus on the C’s: be clear, confident and controlled, observing verbal and non-verbal language.
  4. Practise assertive dialogue: rehearse saying things without hurting others.
  5. Be mindful: of one’s emotions, feelings and behaviours.

Conclusion: Assertiveness expresses one’s rights while respecting others’, guided by the five C’s and developed through self-and-other awareness, practice and mindfulness.

Sample 5. Applications of EI in various contexts, Block 5, 10 marks

Last appeared in June 2025, December 2024, June 2024 and June 2023. Priority band high.

Discuss the application of emotional intelligence at the workplace, in educational settings, and for mental health and well-being.

Significance of Emotional Intelligence

EI, awareness and understanding of one’s own and others’ emotions, influences behaviour and outcomes across social and professional fields, affecting decision-making, motivation and relationships.

Application in Educational Settings

EI predicts better academic performance and social skills (Shanwal, 2004). Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programmes help students learn social, emotional, behavioural and character skills; impact is seen at three levels, students, teachers and the school organisation.

Application at the Workplace

Two components contribute most to workplace success, empathy and social skill (Rosenthal, 1977). Empathy reduces prejudice and aggression, while social skills support communication, collaboration, conflict resolution and negotiation. All four EI components, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management, apply at work.

Application for Health, Mental Health and Well-being

EI serves as a protective factor for health through mediating variables such as proactive self-care, fewer unhealthy habits, task-oriented coping and greater social support. Two kinds of well-being are recognised, hedonic (subjective) and eudaimonic (psychological) well-being, the latter emphasising growth, mastery and meaning (Ryan & Deci, 2001).

Conclusion: EI enhances learning in education, drives success at the workplace through empathy and social skill, and protects health by fostering coping, support and well-being.

Complete Question Index of the BPCS 183 Guess Paper

The file contains 15 questions in total, of which 5 appear above and 10 are in the complete set. The index below is the full contents list of the PDF, so you know exactly what you are getting before you ask for it. The priority band reflects how often the topic appeared across the six papers we studied.

Read down that list and you will notice something useful. Block 4 alone supplies five of the 15 questions, and every one of them sits in the high or medium band. That is not an accident of our selection, it is what the past papers show. Students who ration their revision time by block rather than by page number tend to walk out of this paper having answered five questions comfortably instead of four and a half.

Block and Unit Wise Syllabus Covered in BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence

BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence is organised into 5 blocks and 8 units, and the guess paper draws questions from every one of them. The block titles below match the official IGNOU self learning material hosted on eGyanKosh, so you can cross check any unit against the source book while you revise.

Official block and unit structure of IGNOU BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence mapped to the guess paper questions
BlockUnits inside the blockQuestions drawn from it
Block 1. Introduction to Emotional Intelligence (EI)Unit 1 Concept of Emotion; Unit 2 Concept, Historical Development and Components of Emotional IntelligenceQ1 to Q5
Block 2. Emotional CompetenciesUnit 3 Components of Emotional CompetenciesQ6
Block 3. Models of Emotional IntelligenceUnit 4 Models of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and AssessmentQ7 to Q9
Block 4. Management of EmotionsUnit 5 Emotions, Self-control and Assertiveness; Unit 6 Emotions, Self-regard and Self-actualization; Unit 7 Strategies to Improve Emotional IntelligenceQ10 to Q14
Block 5. Applications of Emotional IntelligenceUnit 8 Applications of EI in Various ContextsQ15

Block 3 is worth a separate warning. It holds a single unit but that unit carries four different models of emotional intelligence, each with its own assessment tool and its own item count. Examiners have asked for these models singly and in pairs across recent sessions, which is why three of the 15 questions come out of one unit.

How the BPCS 183 Important Questions Were Selected

Every question in the file was chosen by tabulating 24 topics against the 6 most recent Term End Examination papers, June 2023 to December 2025, including the latest December 2025 paper. The frequency table that came out of that exercise is printed inside the PDF, so you can see the working rather than take our word for it.

The method was deliberately unglamorous. We first typed out every question from each of the six papers and reduced it to the topic it was actually testing, since IGNOU rephrases the same topic in several ways. Assertiveness, for instance, has appeared as a meaning and importance question, as an interpersonal skill question and as a short note. All three are one topic in the table.

Topics were then banded. A topic repeated four or more times, or one absent long enough to be due, went into the high band. Two or three appearances put it in the medium band. Single appearances stayed as backup, which is why universality of emotional expression sits low even though it appeared recently. Every paper we used is on the IGNOU website and indexed in our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper archive.

Answers were then written against the book rather than against the internet. Where the December 2025 paper split a question 3 + 7 rather than 5 + 5, the answer was proportioned to match. This is the part that takes the time, and it is the part that decides whether an answer earns 7 marks or 4.

BPCS 183 Exam Pattern Marks Split and Word Limits

The BPCS 183 Term End Examination is 50 marks in 2 hours, and you answer any 5 questions with at least 2 from each of the two Sections, every question carrying equal marks. The instruction printed on the paper asks for each answer in about 300 words.

Marks are not always presented as a single block of 10. Across the six sessions studied, the splits include a straight 10, and also 5 + 5, 6 + 4, 7 + 3, 4 + 6 and 3 + 7. That matters more than students expect. A 3 + 7 split on self-concept and self-regard means three marks for the definitions and seven for the strategies, so a candidate who writes four paragraphs of definitions has already capped the score.

A practical word budget helps in BPCS 183. Treat a 10 mark answer as roughly 250 to 300 words, a 5 mark part as about 150 words, and keep the conclusion to two lines. Two hours for five answers leaves about 22 minutes per question including reading and choosing, so the answer you can start writing immediately is worth more than the one you half remember. Checking the wording of an actual BPCS 183 Question paper before the examination is the fastest way to internalise this rhythm.

Which Programmes Include BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence

BPCS 183 is a generic elective offered across several IGNOU CBCS Bachelor programmes, most commonly BAG, BAPCH and BSCG. The course code, the paper and the marking scheme are identical whichever programme you are enrolled in, so the same file serves every student sitting this examination.

IGNOU programmes in which BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence is offered
Programme codeProgramme name
BAGBachelor of Arts (General)
BAPCHBachelor of Arts (Honours) Psychology
BSCGBachelor of Science (General)

For BAG students this course usually appears as an elective alongside heavier discipline papers, and it is often the paper people leave until last. It rewards that neglect badly, because the answers depend on named models and exact counts that cannot be improvised in the hall. Students building a session plan across several codes at once usually start from our BAG guess Paper hub and work down.

Psychology honours students meet the material differently. Much of BPCS 183 reappears in later psychology papers, so the models learned here are worth learning properly rather than for one examination. If you are sitting more than one psychology code this session, the BAPCH guess Paper listing shows which other codes we have prepared files for.

How to Get the Complete BPCS 183 Guess Paper with Answers

Send a WhatsApp message to 9899436384 with the course code BPCS 183 and your programme, and the complete file is shared with you as a PDF. The 5 BPCS 183 sample answers on this page stay available at no cost. The remaining 10 questions with their model answers, the frequency analysis of 24 Emotional Intelligence topics and the study notes come with the complete file.

Tell us whether you are sitting BPCS 183 under BAG, BAPCH or BSCG when you message. It lets us confirm the Section A and Section B split you will face and flag any other psychology code you may need in the same session. If a specific answer above raised a doubt, send that with your message. We would rather settle it before you buy than after.

Delivery is digital and usually the same day. The 17 page BPCS 183 file arrives as a PDF, so the frequency table and the model answers stay legible on a phone screen and print cleanly on A4 if you revise better on paper.

Frequently Asked Questions on BPCS 183 Guess Paper

How many questions are in the BPCS 183 guess paper for 2026?

The file carries 15 questions with 15 complete model answers across 17 pages. Five of those questions appear in full on this page, one taken from each block of the course, and the remaining 10 come with the complete file. Every question is tagged with its block, its marks split and the sessions in which the topic last appeared in the Term End Examination.

Are the BPCS 183 answers written from the official IGNOU book?

Yes. Each answer is written from the IGNOU self learning material for Emotional Intelligence, keeping the book wording for definitions, the scholar names and the exact counts such as the four components of EI and the five Bar-On domains. Nothing is paraphrased from general web notes, because examiners in this paper mark against the terminology the study material uses.

Which sessions does this BPCS 183 guess paper cover?

It was prepared for the 2026 Term End Examination sessions of BPCS 183, and December 2026 is the next examination it applies to. The question selection rests on the six papers from June 2023 to December 2025, with the December 2025 paper included, so the frequency bands reflect the most recent examination behaviour rather than older patterns.

What is the exam pattern for the BPCS 183 Term End Examination?

The paper is 50 marks in two hours. You answer any five questions in all, taking at least two from each of the two Sections, and all questions carry equal marks. The instruction on the paper asks for each answer in about 300 words. Marks appear as a straight 10 or as splits such as 5 plus 5, 7 plus 3, 4 plus 6 and 3 plus 7.

Is the BPCS 183 guess paper useful for BAG and BAPCH students both?

Yes. BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence is a generic elective and the question paper, the marking scheme and the study material are the same whichever programme you are enrolled in. Students from BAG, BAPCH and BSCG sit the identical paper, so one file serves all three. Mention your programme code when you message us and we will confirm it against your session.

Can a BPCS 183 guess paper guarantee the questions in the exam?

No honest guess paper can. What this file does is rank topics by how often they have actually appeared across six sessions and give you a complete written answer for each of the 15 most likely ones. Students who prepare all 15 walk in able to choose five comfortably. Treat it as prioritised revision, not as a leaked paper.

How is the BPCS 183 solved file delivered after payment?

The 17 page Emotional Intelligence PDF is shared on WhatsApp at 9899436384, usually the same day you message. It carries all 15 answers, the frequency analysis of 24 topics and the closing study notes in a single file. Nothing is split across parts and nothing expires, so you can revise from the same document again in a later session.

What should I not over prepare in BPCS 183 Emotional Intelligence?

Single appearance topics such as universality of emotional expression are worth keeping as backup rather than memorising fully. Long sub component tables are also poor value, since examiners reward the named categories and their counts more than exhaustive detail. Spend the saved time on Block 4, which has supplied the largest share of questions across recent sessions.
