1. What the June 2026 Solved Paper Covers
The June 2026 paper has ten questions and you answer any five, each worth 10 marks, in two hours for a total of 50. Our subject experts took this official paper and wrote a complete Hindi answer for every question, at the length and in the structure a 10-mark IGNOU answer is expected to have.
The paper leans on Block 1. Questions 1 to 5 and the four short-note options in Question 10 come from translation basics, process and literary translation, while Questions 6 to 9 test Block 2 on administrative language, terminology and official correspondence. The answers keep that balance, so you can choose your five with confidence.
On this page you can read two complete answers, Question 1 and Question 4. The other 8 questions are listed exactly as printed, and their answers are kept for the full file.
2. Two Answers Solved in Full, Eight Held Back
Two questions from the June 2026 paper are solved in full below, Question 1 on the meaning and importance of translation and Question 4 on the qualities of a good translator. Both answers are in Hindi, the medium of the exam, and keep the paper's own question numbers.
जैसे 'It is raining cats and dogs' का अर्थ बिल्ली-कुत्तों की बारिश नहीं, बल्कि 'मूसलाधार बारिश' है।

4. Syllabus by Block and Unit
BHDS 183 has 2 blocks and 10 units: Block 1 (Units 1 to 6) covers translation and literary translation, and Block 2 (Units 7 to 10) covers administrative translation and technical terminology.
Unit titles below are as published by IGNOU; the focus column is our reading of what each unit builds, and the last column shows where the June 2026 paper drew from it. Read it next to your BHDS 183 Study Material so you know which unit to open for each question.
| Block | Unit | What the unit builds | June 2026 questions |
|---|---|---|---|

| Block 2 | Unit 7: प्रशासन की भाषा और अनुवाद | Nature of administrative Hindi, its Rajbhasha background, and the fixed language of noting and drafting | Q6 |
| Block 2 | Unit 8: पारिभाषिक शब्दावली : अवधारणा और अनुवाद | Meaning of a technical term, methods used to coin new terms, and the work of the Commission set up in 1961 | Q7, Q8 |

Units 5 and 6, on prose and poetry translation, did not produce a question this time. Students should not drop them for December 2026, since literary translation remains the heart of Block 1.
5. Question Paper Pattern and Marks Split
The June 2026 paper gives 2 hours for 50 marks: ten questions are printed, you attempt any five, and every question carries 10 marks.
| Element | June 2026 paper | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 2 hours | About 24 minutes per answer if you split the time evenly across five answers |
| Maximum marks | 50 | Five answers of 10 marks each make up the whole paper |
| Questions printed | 10 | Nine long questions plus one short-note question with four options |
| Questions to attempt | Any 5 | No compulsory question, so you can skip a unit you have not revised |
| Marks per question | Equal, 10 each | A pair of short notes earns exactly what a long answer earns |
| Question 10 format | Any 2 of 4 short notes, 2 × 5 = 10 | Two tight 5-mark notes instead of one long 10-mark essay |
| Medium of paper | Hindi only | Answers are expected in Hindi with correct technical terms |
Because there is no compulsory question, the smartest preparation is to master six or seven themes well rather than skim all ten units. Our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper collection helps you see how the same pattern has been used in other sessions.
6. Important Themes by Unit Weight
Unit 8 on technical terminology and Units 3 and 4 in Block 1 each feed two question slots in June 2026, which makes them the highest-yield units for revision.
| Theme | Unit | June 2026 question | Why it matters for revision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meaning, definitions and importance of translation | Unit 1 | Q1 (Sample 1) | Opening theme of the course; definitions by Catford and Nida anchor the answer |
| Utility of translation across fields | Unit 2 | Q2 | Shares ground with the education and advertising notes in Q10, so one revision serves three slots |
| Stages of the translation process | Unit 3 | Q3, Q10(अ) | Process and translation aids sit in one unit, giving a long answer and a short note together |
| Qualities of a good translator | Units 1 and 3 | Q4 (Sample 2) | A personal, example-led answer where Hindi-English examples lift the marks |
| Knowledge texts versus creative literary texts | Unit 4 | Q5, Q10(ब) | Unit 4 alone feeds a comparison question and a short note in the same paper |
| Basic requirements of administrative translation | Unit 7 | Q6 | The one Block 2 question on administrative language as a whole |
| Technical terminology: features and coining principles | Unit 8 | Q7, Q8 | Two full questions from one unit, the largest single-unit share in Block 2 |
| Types of administrative correspondence | Unit 9 | Q9 | Ties Unit 7 theory to the actual letter formats used in government offices |

7. How Our Answers Are Written and Checked
Every BHDS 183 answer starts from the question's exact Hindi wording and the eGyanKosh unit it belongs to, and is then checked by a reviewer before it goes into the file.
The writer first reads the matching unit on the official eGyanKosh BHDS-183 course page. The answer then uses the same terms students meet there, such as स्रोत भाषा, लक्ष्य भाषा and समतुल्यता.
Each answer follows a plain exam shape: a short introduction, a clear definition where the question needs one, numbered points with Hindi or English-Hindi examples, and a two or three line conclusion. Command words matter here. A question that says सिद्ध कीजिए is answered as an argument, while प्रकाश डालिए gets a descriptive spread of points.
Answers were written after studying earlier BHDS 183 papers, so recurring themes such as definitions of translation and the translator's role get the depth they deserve.
8. Solved File Index of All 10 Questions

11. BHDS 183 FAQs
Quick answers to the questions BHDS 183 students ask us most before buying the June 2026 solved file.
What is inside the Solved Question Paper for June 2026?
It holds answers to all 10 questions printed in the official June 2026 paper, written in Hindi to the length a 10-mark answer needs. That covers Questions 1 to 9 and all four short-note options in Question 10, so you can choose any two. Two answers are open on this page as samples and the other 8 sit in the full file.
Which answers are shown in full on this page?
Question 1, on the meaning and importance of translation, and Question 4, on the qualities of a good translator, are shown with complete Hindi answers. Both come from Block 1. We picked them so you can judge our structure, examples and length before asking for the rest. The remaining 8 questions appear here as printed text only, without answers.
How do I get the complete file on WhatsApp?
Send a message to WhatsApp 9899436384 with the code BHDS 183 and the session June 2026. Our team replies with the price and payment details, and once payment is confirmed you receive the PDF with all 10 answers, including the 8 that are not on this page. The file is a digital PDF, so you can read it on your phone or print it.
Are the answers written in Hindi or English?
All answers are in Hindi, because BHDS 183 is a Hindi-medium course and the June 2026 paper itself is printed only in Hindi. We use clear, everyday standard Hindi rather than heavy textbook wording, so the answers are easy to revise. Core terms from translation studies, such as स्रोत भाषा and लक्ष्य भाषा, are kept because examiners expect to see them.
How many questions do I attempt in the BHDS 183 exam?
You attempt any five of the ten questions printed in the paper. Each question carries 10 marks, so five answers make the full 50 marks in a two-hour sitting. That leaves roughly 20 to 24 minutes per answer, which is why our answers stay focused and are paced to be written within that time rather than running into essay length.
How should I answer the Question 10 short notes?
Question 10 asks for short notes on any two of four topics, each worth 5 marks. Aim for about 150 to 200 words per note with a one-line definition, two or three clear points and a short closing line. The full file answers all four options, namely translation tools, literary translation, education, and advertising language, so you can pick your strongest two.
Which block carries more marks in June 2026?
Block 1 carries more weight in the June 2026 paper. Questions 1 to 5 and all four parts of Question 10 come from Block 1, which deals with translation basics and literary translation. Block 2, on administrative translation and terminology, supplies Questions 6 to 9. Since you only need five answers, you can plan your choice around the block you know better.
Who writes and checks the BHDS 183 answers?
Our Hindi subject team writes the answers after reading the eGyanKosh units, and Sheetal Kirola reviews every file before it is shared. The review checks that each answer matches the wording of its question, stays within the IGNOU unit it comes from and uses accurate examples. Prateek Talwar leads the IGNOU content team that prepares these solved papers.
