What the BEGLA-135 Solved Question Paper June 2026 covers

BEGLA-135 Solved Question Paper June 2026 explains the term-end paper of English in Daily Life, a practical English language course in IGNOU’s Bachelor of Arts (General) programme.

The June 2026 paper carried 100 marks over 3 hours, with five compulsory questions. It opened with a short passage on how success and failure shape each other, then moved to personal essays, a World Environment Day speech, a job interview dialogue and quick grammar drills.

This BEGLA-135 Question Paper rewards plain, correct English far more than memorised theory. That is why model answers help so much: you see how long each answer should be, how a speech opens and closes, and how to fill a preposition blank without second-guessing yourself.

One figure is worth knowing before you plan your three hours. A quarter of the paper, 25 marks, sits in Question 5’s grammar blanks and Question 4(b)’s silent letters, and those 25 marks need fewer than fifty words of actual writing between them. The paper-pattern section below sets out what that means for your order of attempt.

If you are collecting every BAG Question Paper for your semester, keep this one near the top.

BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life sample answers from June 2026

Below are two complete answers from the June 2026 paper: Question 1 on reading comprehension and Question 3, the World Environment Day speech.

Both answers are written at the length the marks demand. The question text and the passage are reproduced as printed, with the corrected reading in square brackets where the paper carries a slip.

Question 1 Reading comprehension 5 × 4 = 20 marks 50 to 70 words per part Unseen passage set in 3 of 4 papers

1. Read the following passage and answer the questions given below. Reading Comprehension: 5 × 4 = 20

Success and failure are often seen as opposites but they are deeply inter-connected. Many great thinkers have argued that failure is not the end of a journey but an essential part of growth. When individuals face adversity they are compelled to reflect, adapt and strengthen their resolve. It is through such challenges that resilience is cultivated.

Success, on the other hand, can sometimes lead to complacency. When things go well people may overlook their weaknesses and fail to recognise areas that need improvement.

Thus, failure teaches humility while success offers confidence. A balanced perspective requires acknowledging both as valuable experiences.

History is filled with examples of individuals who turned their failures into stepping stones. Their stories remind us that perseverance and self-belief are crucial. Rather than fearing failures [failure], one should embrace it as a teacher that shapes characters [character] and guides future success.

(i) How does the passage describe the relationship between success and failure?

The passage says that success and failure look like opposites but are in fact closely linked, and each one shapes the other. Failure pushes a person to think again and change course, while success gives confidence. So the writer asks us to keep a balanced view and treat both as valuable experiences, not as one good result and one bad result.

(ii) Why does the author consider failure important?

The author sees failure as a necessary stage of growth rather than the end of the road. Hard times force a person to look back at what went wrong, change the method and become more determined. This is how resilience is built. Failure also teaches humility, which keeps a person grounded and willing to keep learning.

(iii) What danger is associated with success according to the passage?

The danger is complacency. When everything goes well, people tend to relax and stop questioning themselves. They ignore their weak points and do not notice the areas where they still need to improve. In this way success, if it is not handled carefully, can quietly stop a person’s growth.

(iv) How does failure contribute to character building?

Failure tests a person and builds character in the process. It teaches humility, demands honest self-reflection and calls for perseverance. Someone who keeps going after a setback develops resilience and self-belief. That is why the passage asks us to accept failure as a teacher that shapes character and guides us towards future success.

(v) What lesson can be learned from historical examples mentioned?

The historical examples show that many people used their failures as stepping stones to later success. The lesson is that perseverance and self-belief matter more than any single setback. Instead of being afraid of failure, we should accept it, learn from it and keep moving forward with greater determination.

Question 3 Block 4, Burning Issues 20 marks 350 to 450 words Speech set in 4 of 4 papers

3. Write a speech to be delivered on the occasion of World Environment Day, highlighting the importance of environmental protection. (20)

Speech on World Environment Day

Respected Principal, honoured teachers and my dear friends,

Good morning. Today is 5 June, World Environment Day, and I am grateful for this chance to speak on a subject that touches every one of us: the protection of our environment.

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, the year of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, and it has been observed every year since 1973. It is led by the United Nations Environment Programme. In 2018, India hosted the global celebrations under the theme Beat Plastic Pollution.

Friends, why should this day matter to us? Because the environment is not something outside our lives. It is the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food on our plates. When rivers are polluted, our health suffers. When forests are cut down, rainfall changes and farmers suffer. When summers grow hotter, the poorest families suffer the most.

Look around us. In many Indian cities the air becomes so polluted in winter that schools have to close. Plastic bags choke our drains and cause waterlogging in the monsoon. Groundwater levels keep falling year after year. These are not distant problems. They are already knocking at our doors.

The good news is that each of us can make a difference, and I would like to suggest five simple steps. First, say no to single-use plastic and carry a cloth bag and a steel bottle. Second, save electricity and water: switch off lights and fans when you leave a room, and close the tap while brushing your teeth.

Third, plant a tree and look after it until it grows strong, because planting is easy but nurturing is the real duty. Fourth, walk, cycle or use public transport for short distances. Fifth, separate wet and dry waste at home so that it can be composted and recycled.

This is also the message of Mission LiFE, or Lifestyle for Environment, promoted by the Government of India: small daily choices made by millions of people add up to a very big change.

As a popular saying goes, we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. Let us promise today that protecting the environment will not be a one-day event but a daily habit. Let us be the generation that heals the planet instead of harming it.

Thank you.

IGNOU BEGLA-135 Question Paper pattern and marks for June 2026

The IGNOU BEGLA-135 Question Paper for June 2026 has five compulsory questions of 20 marks each, adding up to 100 marks in 3 hours.

25 marks (Q5 plus Q4(b)) in under 50 words · the other 75 marks in about 1,500 words

Look at the Words column and the order of attempt almost decides itself. Question 5 hands you 20 marks for twenty blanks and five jumbled words, which is under fifty words of writing. Add Question 4(b), five marks for picking five silent-letter words, and a full quarter of the paper is available in a few minutes of work. Nothing else on the paper comes close: the essays in Question 2 pay about 0.04 marks for every word, while Question 5 pays close to half a mark per word.

So take Question 5 and Question 4(b) first, bank those 25 marks inside the first twenty minutes, and then give the remaining two and a half hours to the comprehension, the essays, the speech and the dialogue. Students who start at Question 1 and work down often reach the grammar items with ten minutes left and lose easy marks to rushing.

One more detail needs care. Question 2 is printed as Write one essay, but parts (a) and (b) carry 10 marks each and the paper only totals 100 when both are counted; write only one and the paper adds up to 90. Our solved file answers both essays so you are covered either way.

The layout is very close to the June 2024 paper, which also had a passage, an essay, a speech, a dialogue, silent letters and grammar blanks. Compare both on our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper page to see how stable this format is.

Topics that keep returning in BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life papers

Dialogue writing and speech writing appeared in all four official BEGLA-135 papers we checked, making them the safest topics to practise.

We used the official IGNOU papers for December 2022, June 2023 (the BA online version of BEGLA-135), June 2024 and June 2026. Counts below are out of these four papers only, and three of them are past papers, so treat the table as a guide rather than a frequency study.

Two topics were set before and skipped this time: the essay on time management, and the phrasal verbs and passive voice exercises. Both appeared in two of the four papers, so keep a prepared time-management essay in reserve and revise common phrasal verbs along with the active-to-passive conversions before the next sitting.

The clearer lesson is how stable the question types are. Across every paper we could open, the same six shapes come round: a passage, a personal essay, a speech, a dialogue, a sound or spelling exercise and grammar blanks. Only the topic inside each shape changes. So practise the shapes, one dialogue and one speech a week, rather than trying to guess the subject. For quick revision before the exam, pair this table with our IGNOU Solved Guess Paper collection.

How our BEGLA-135 answers are written and checked

Every BEGLA-135 answer is drafted to the marks and word range of its question, then checked line by line for grammar, spelling and tone.

Prateek Talwar writes the answers after reading the paper alongside earlier BEGLA-135 papers, so the structure matches what examiners have asked for before. Comprehension answers stay close to the passage, while essays and speeches use your own voice in simple, correct English.

Sheetal Kirola then reviews each answer for accuracy and British spelling, and checks every fact in the speech, such as the 1972 founding of World Environment Day and the 2018 India host year. Grammar items are rechecked against standard usage, so a preposition or adverb is never left to guesswork.

Where the printed paper carries a slip, as in Question 2(a)’s “how you overcome it”, we keep IGNOU’s wording and add the corrected reading in square brackets, so you can recognise the question in the hall and still write correct English in your answer.

Programmes that study BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life

BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life is studied mainly in BAG, and the June 2026 paper also names the BAVMSME programme.

Most learners meet this course in the IGNOU Bachelor of Arts (General) as one of the language papers. The June 2026 paper header also lists BA (Vocational Studies) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, known as BAVMSME.

Official IGNOU assignment files also place BEGLA-135 in the first semester of the B.Com (General) programme. All three of these groups sit the paper solved here, and the course content is the same for each.

One caution. The BA online programme sets its own BEGLA-135 paper in a sectioned format that differs from the paper on this page. If you are an online learner, check the layout printed on your own hall ticket or past paper before you order, and message us so we can tell you which file matches your format.

BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life FAQs

Quick answers to the questions students ask most about BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life.

How do I get the full BEGLA-135 solved file on WhatsApp?

Send a message to WhatsApp 9899436384 with the course code BEGLA 135 and the session June 2026. Our team will confirm the price and share the complete solved file, which answers all 10 items in the paper. That includes the 2 answers you can read on this page and the 8 items that are answered only in the full file, from both essays to the grammar blanks.

Which two BEGLA-135 answers can I read on this page?

You can read Question 1 and Question 3 in full. Question 1 is the reading comprehension on success and failure, with all five parts answered. Question 3 is the World Environment Day speech worth 20 marks. Together they carry 40 of the 100 marks, so they show you clearly how our answers are planned, sized and written before you ask for the full file.

Which BEGLA-135 question should I answer first?

Question 5, then Question 4(b). Question 5 gives 20 marks for twenty fill-in-the-blank items and five jumbled words, which is under fifty words of writing in total, and Question 4(b) gives five more for naming five silent-letter words. That is a quarter of the paper secured in the first twenty minutes, leaving two and a half hours for the comprehension, the two essays, the speech and the dialogue. Working straight down from Question 1 is the common mistake, because the grammar items then get whatever time is left.

Is the BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life paper hard to pass?

Most students find it one of the easier papers in BAG, because it tests everyday English rather than theory. The risk lies in careless grammar, answers that are too short and weak structure in speeches and dialogues. If you practise writing within the word limits and revise prepositions, adverbs and spelling patterns, a good score in this paper is well within reach for most learners.

How many questions are in the IGNOU BEGLA-135 June 2026 paper?

The June 2026 paper has five compulsory questions worth 100 marks in 3 hours. Because Questions 2, 4 and 5 are split into parts, there are 10 separate items to answer: one passage, two essays, one speech, one dialogue and five short grammar or vocabulary tasks. Our solved file answers every one of these 10 items in full.

Do I have to write both essays in BEGLA-135 Question 2?

The paper prints Write one essay in about 250 words, yet it gives 10 marks each to parts (a) and (b) and the paper only adds up to 100 if both are counted; write only one and the total comes to 90. Because the instruction and the marks do not match, the safest plan is to write both essays of about 250 words each. Our full file answers both parts for this reason.

Which topics repeat most in BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life papers?

In the official papers we checked, from December 2022, June 2023, June 2024 and June 2026, dialogue writing and speech writing appeared every time. A reading passage, preposition blanks and writing about a personal challenge each appeared three times. Silent letters, adverbs and framing five questions for a professional appeared in both June 2024 and June 2026. The question shapes are more stable than the topics inside them.

Is the BEGLA-135 paper the same for BA online students?

Not always. The BA online programme has set its own BEGLA-135 paper in a sectioned format that does not match the five-question layout solved on this page. The course content and blocks are the same, so the answers still teach you the material, but the question numbering and marks split can differ. Check your own hall ticket or a past paper from your programme, and message us on WhatsApp if you want us to confirm which file fits your format.

Which programmes include BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life?

BEGLA-135 is studied mainly in the Bachelor of Arts (General), known as BAG. The June 2026 paper also lists BA (Vocational Studies) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, or BAVMSME. Official IGNOU assignment files show the course in the B.Com (General) first semester too, and the BA online programme has its own BEGLA-135 paper as well.

How long should my BEGLA-135 speech answer be?

The June 2026 paper prints no word limit for the speech, but it carries 20 marks, so aim for about 350 to 450 words. Start by greeting the audience, explain why the occasion matters, add a few real facts, give practical steps and end with a strong closing line and thanks. Our sample answer on this page follows exactly this structure.
