- Paying your fees online: Step-by-step instructions
- Here are some tips to help you avoid making a mistake.
Let’s start right now.
What has been announced
Here is the official headline.
- The registration and fee payment window has been opened on the official portal, SDMIS-NIOS Portal.
- NIOS published the key dates and fees in an official notification.
Charges & Deadlines
Don’t miss this breakdown.
Deadline schedule
The PeriodFee Condition
No late fee Shiksha+2Careers360 School+2
Late fee per subject 21 December 2025 – 31 December 2025, extra Rs 150 per subject
Consolidated late fee per learner 01 January 2026 to 10 January 2026: Flat Rs 1,600 per learner
Know the rules
- Before registering for the public examination, learners of Senior Secondary (Class 12) must have a minimum of two years ‘ gap following their Secondary (Class 10). You can only register for up to 4 subjects if you do not have a gap. This includes any that you have already passed.
- All payments must be made at the official portal. No manual or offline submissions are allowed.
How to pay in Step-by-Step
Don’t wait until the last minute to get this done.
- Go to the portal: https://sdmis.nios.ac.in.
- Enter your 12-digit enrollment number to log in for Class 10 or 12.
- Select the exam session March/April 2026 (Stream-1, block-1).
- Choose your subjects carefully. Check the difference between theory and practice.
- The portal will display the following fee: Rs300 for the number of theory courses + Rs150 per practical course.
- Choose payment mode: debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, etc.
- Avoid extra charges by paying prior to 20 December 2025.
- Download or print your receipt/confirmation after payment. It is important to keep it safe.
- You’ll get your admit card/hall tickets when the schedule is announced (stay alert).
Why you should take action now and avoid procrastination
- Risk of technical glitches: As deadlines approach, servers/gateways may slow down or crash. Do not wait until the last minute.
- After you have registered and paid, it may be difficult to make changes. Select carefully.
- Late fees penalties: Missing the deadline of 20 December will incur additional costs — Rs 150 per subject, or Rs 1,600 for each learner.
- You may be required to register for fewer subjects if you do not meet the 2-year rule (for Class 12). This could affect your certification.
My Tips / Checklist
- Verify your enrollment number and other details.
- Calculate your fee by counting how many subjects (including practicals) you will take.
- Check your eligibility (especially for class 12). You’re restricted if you just passed Class 10 and you don’t have a 2-year gap.
- Avoid using your mobile if the connection is unstable.
- Print or screenshot your receipt after payment and send it to yourself via email.
- Mark the 21 December and 01 January as last-chance fees.
- Check the official NIOS website or other credible sites (like Colleges360 and JagranJosh) for any updates/changes.
What’s Next?
- After payment, you will receive a subject-specific admit card/timetable. Watch the portal.
- Begin your study plan simultaneously — the earlier you finish formalities, the more time you will have to focus on revision.
- Don’t let formalities hold you back if you missed an exam window in the past.
- Check the details of your registration/centre early if you are not in India (NIOS offers international centres).
Final Words
This update is a call to action from NIOS: if your plan is to take the public examinations in March/April of 2026, you must pay now. Do not delay and do not assume that “there is time”. The earlier you complete your exams, the better, with deadlines, eligibility requirements, and fee slabs in place.
If you find this helpful, please hit the Like button and subscribe if appropriate. Also, if you have any specific questions, such as “How do I pay my fee outside India?” or “What happens if I miss a 2-year gap?”, I will try to answer them in future videos/posts.
You’re doing great! You can do it, but you must also take care of the formalities correctly. Do not let this slip.
