How the Krishi 383 Course Is Organised

Krishi 383 has 25 lessons in total. Ten of them are assessed through the Tutor Marked Assignment, which is 40 percent of the syllabus. The other 15 lessons are examined in the public examination, which is 60 percent of the syllabus. Knowing this split early stops you spending exam preparation time on lessons that are only assessed in the TMA.

The theory paper carries 80 marks and runs for 3 hours. The compulsory TMA carries 20 marks. Together they form your final 100 marks for the subject.

One point makes Krishi 383 different from most theory subjects. Exactly half the paper, 40 of the 80 marks, is objective type. That rewards precise recall of definitions, figures, methods and crop details, not just long descriptive answers.

Crop Production Practices is the clear leader at 25 marks, which is almost a third of the whole paper. It also holds five of the fifteen public examination lessons. If you prepare nothing else properly, prepare this module.

Food Processing and Value Addition follows at 15 marks, then Agricultural Economics, Marketing and Policy at 13 and Scope and Importance of Agriculture at 12. Post-harvest Management adds 10 marks. Together these five modules account for 75 of the 80 theory marks.

Enterprises in Agriculture carries just 5 marks, and only one of its lessons, Entrepreneurship, is asked in the public examination. It is still worth a short revision because 5 marks can decide a grade, but it does not deserve heavy study time.

By nature of questions, Understanding takes the largest share at 45 percent, or 36 marks. Knowledge accounts for 25 percent and Application and skills for 30 percent. In practice this means you must be able to explain why a practice works, not simply name it.

By difficulty, 70 percent of the paper is easy or medium and only 30 percent is difficult. A student who covers all six modules honestly and practises writing can comfortably target a strong score.

Module 1: Scope and Importance of Agriculture

Worth 12 marks. Your TMA lessons are the evolution of agriculture and its importance in the Indian economy. The public examination asks from the characteristics of Indian agriculture and new developments in the sector. Expect questions on the share of agriculture in the economy, employment, cropping patterns and modern trends such as precision farming.

Module 2: Crop Production Practices

Worth 25 marks and the heart of the syllabus. Vegetable crops and flower crops are TMA lessons. The public examination draws from soil health and plant nutrition, cropping systems and crop establishment, nutrient, water and weed management, plant protection and harvesting, and horticulture and fruit production.

This module is fact heavy. Nutrient names, deficiency symptoms, irrigation methods, weed control types and common pests all appear in objective questions, so keep a running list as you revise.

Module 3: Post-harvest Management

Worth 10 marks. The need and importance of post-harvest management is your TMA lesson, while the processes involved and storage and warehousing are examined publicly. Focus on causes of post-harvest losses, drying, cleaning, grading and packaging, and the difference between traditional and scientific storage structures.

Module 4: Food Processing and Value Addition

Worth 15 marks. Two TMA lessons sit here, the food processing sector and food safety and quality control. The public examination covers food groups and nutritional importance, types and methods of food processing, and value added food products. Learn the processing methods with one clear example each, since case-based questions are common.

Module 5: Agricultural Economics, Marketing and Policy

Worth 13 marks. Agricultural finance and credit in India is the TMA lesson. Basics of agricultural economics and agricultural marketing and policy are asked in the examination. Know the marketing channels, the role of mandis and regulated markets, minimum support price, and the main sources of farm credit.

Module 6: Enterprises in Agriculture

Worth 5 marks. Self-help groups and career opportunities are TMA lessons, and only entrepreneurship, covering its nature, types and levels, is asked in the public examination. Keep this module short and definition focused.

Agricultural marketing and policy connects with current affairs. Marketing channels, market functionaries, minimum support price and recent policy measures make good long answer material.

The TMA carries 20 marks and covers 10 assigned lessons of Krishi 383. It is compulsory and must be submitted at your study centre before you sit the public examination.

Because the TMA lessons are largely applied ones, such as vegetable crops, flower crops, food safety and self-help groups, your answers improve a lot when you add practical detail. Naming actual crops, seasons, varieties or a local example shows real understanding rather than copied text.

Draw diagrams while you revise. Flow charts and diagram based questions are listed in the official paper design, so a labelled sketch of a storage structure or a processing flow can earn easy marks.
