Course Overview

BPCC 104 Solved Guess Paper for the June 2026 and December 2026 Term End Examination is ready, and it carries 14 high probability questions with complete written answers. Every question in it was chosen after reading six consecutive question papers of BPCC 104 Statistical Methods for Psychological Research-I, from June 2023 through to December 2025.

Statistics frightens more psychology students than any other paper in the BAPCH programme, and the reason is usually not the maths. It is that students revise the whole book, run out of time, and then face a 2 hour paper where five answers of roughly 300 words each decide the result. This file removes that guesswork.

What the BPCC 104 Solved Guess Paper for 2026 Contains

Answer first: 14 solved questions across 14 pages, covering all four blocks, with 6 questions marked HIGH priority and 8 marked MEDIUM.

The file opens with a question index, then runs Q1 to Q14 in priority order. Each question carries a header strip showing its priority band, its block and section, and the exact sessions in which the question last appeared. Then comes the answer.

Answers follow one consistent shape. A definition in quotation marks with the scholar's name where the book gives one, then the body split into labelled points, then a two line conclusion. Computational questions add the working table.

Six of the 14 questions are computational, because that is what BPCC 104 actually rewards. Spearman's rho has appeared in all six papers we studied. Mean, median and mode has appeared in five. Standard deviation in five. If you can solve those three cleanly, you have already secured 30 of the 50 marks available.

The last three pages are strategy rather than answers: the exam pattern, the list of topics that are not worth over preparing, and the frequency table. Students who read those three pages first tend to use the answers better.

If you are also collecting material for the other papers in your programme, the wider IGNOU Solved Guess Paper library covers the rest of the BAPCH course list in the same format.

Five BPCC 104 Sample Questions with Complete Solutions

Answer first: these five answers are reproduced exactly as they appear in the PDF, so you can judge the writing quality before you ask for the file.

We are showing 5 of the 14 questions here. Nothing has been shortened or simplified for the web page. The remaining 9 questions, including quartile deviation, the normal probability curve, z scores, skewness and kurtosis, and classification and tabulation, are in the complete file.

Compute mean, median and mode

Question: Compute mean, median and mode for the following data: 53, 41, 13, 12, 13, 13, 31, 41, 31, 52, 34, 42.

Meaning of measures of central tendency. Tate (1955) described an average as a typical value of the items in a series whose function is to summarise the series. The three measures of central tendency are mean, median and mode, and each gives a single value representing the general magnitude of the data set.

Mean. The mean is the total of all scores divided by the number of scores. Here the sum is 376 and N is 12, so the mean is 376 divided by 12, which equals 31.33.

Median. The median is the middle score in an ordered distribution. Arranged in order the scores read 12, 13, 13, 13, 31, 31, 34, 41, 41, 42, 52, 53. Since N is 12 and therefore even, the median is the average of the 6th and 7th scores, that is (31 plus 34) divided by 2, which equals 32.5.

Mode. The mode is the score occurring most frequently. The value 13 occurs three times, more often than any other score, so the mode is 13.

Conclusion. For this data the mean is 31.33, the median is 32.5 and the mode is 13. The mean uses every score, the median is the positional middle, and the mode is simply the most frequent value.

Sample 2HIGHBlock 310 marksLast appeared: every session, June 2023 to December 2025

Compute Spearman's rank order correlation, rho

Question: Compute Spearman's rho for the following data. Data 1 (X): 45, 34, 23, 22, 65, 33, 30, 25, 32, 21. Data 2 (Y): 40, 33, 25, 21, 60, 30, 31, 32, 29, 20.

Meaning. Spearman's rank order correlation is a non parametric method used when variables are measured on an ordinal scale. The formula is rho = 1 minus [(6 x Σd²) / N(N² minus 1)], where Σd² is the sum of squared rank differences and N is the number of pairs.

Steps. Ranks are assigned separately within each data set, rank 1 to the lowest and rank 10 to the highest, in the same order for both. The difference in ranks (d) is found, signs are ignored, each difference is squared, and the squares are totalled as Σd². That total is then substituted into the formula.

Substitution. rho = 1 minus (6 x 18) divided by [10 (10² minus 1)] = 1 minus 108 divided by 990 = 1 minus 0.11 = 0.89.

Conclusion. The obtained coefficient is 0.89, which denotes a high and positive correlation between Data 1 and Data 2.

Merits, limitations and computation of standard deviation

Question: Explain the merits and limitations of standard deviation. Compute standard deviation for the following data: 5, 4, 6, 10, 9.

Meaning. Standard deviation is the square root of the average of the squares of the deviations of each score from the mean.

Merits. It is the best measure of variation by virtue of its mathematical characteristics. It is based on every observation in the data. It gives an accurate estimate of the population parameter and is least affected by sample fluctuations. Combined standard deviation can be computed, and further statistics such as correlation, regression and tests of significance can be applied to it.

Limitations. More weight is given to extreme values, because deviations are squared and large deviations therefore become proportionally larger. It is also harder to compute than the other measures of dispersion.

Computation. Mean = (5 + 4 + 6 + 10 + 9) divided by 5 = 34 divided by 5 = 6.8. The squared deviations are 3.24, 7.84, 0.64, 10.24 and 4.84, giving Σx² = 26.8. Standard deviation = square root of (26.8 divided by 5) = square root of 5.36 = 2.32.

Conclusion. Standard deviation is the most stable and reliable measure of variability, and for this data it works out to 2.32.

Steps in creating a histogram and a frequency polygon

Question: Describe the steps involved in creating a histogram and a frequency polygon. Give examples for both cases.

Histogram. A histogram is a bar diagram drawn from a frequency distribution. Because it is based on a grouped frequency distribution, two extra class intervals are added, one below and one above. The class intervals are then changed to their actual limits, so 10 to 19 becomes 9.5 to 19.5. The actual lower limits are plotted on the x axis and the frequencies on the y axis. A single rectangle represents each frequency, and the height of the graph is kept at about 75 per cent of its width.

Frequency polygon. A frequency polygon is a line graph used for plotting a frequency distribution. Two extra class intervals are added, one below and one above. Midpoints are computed for all the class intervals and plotted on the x axis, with frequencies on the y axis. The corresponding frequencies are plotted against the midpoints and the points are joined to form a line, again keeping the height at about 75 per cent of the width.

Conclusion. A histogram represents grouped frequencies as adjoining bars while a frequency polygon joins the midpoint frequencies into a continuous line, and both summarise a distribution visually.

Scales of measurement

Question: Describe the various scales of measurement with the help of suitable examples.

Meaning. Measurement is a process that involves assigning numbers to observations in a meaningful manner. In 1946, S. S. Stevens described four scales of measurement that can be used to measure variables.

Nominal scale. It measures qualitative, mutually exclusive variables. Numbers serve only as identification, as with gender or religion, and carry no mathematical value.

Ordinal scale. Data is ranked by magnitude, such as the ranks of students in a class, but the degree of difference between consecutive ranks is not known.

Interval scale. Categories are ranked and the degree of difference between values is equal, but there is no absolute zero, as with scores on an attitude scale. It permits mathematical calculation.

Ratio scale. It carries every property of the other three scales plus an absolute zero indicating complete absence of the characteristic, weight being the standard example. All mathematical calculations are possible.

Six Session Frequency Analysis of BPCC 104 Previous Year Question Papers

Answer first: across six sessions from June 2023 to December 2025, Spearman's rho and correlation theory appeared in all six papers, and standard deviation in five.

The table below is the working document behind the guess paper. "Yes" means the topic was set in that session's paper. This is also why we do not sell a list of "important questions" without evidence attached.

BPCC 104 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme for June and December 2026

Answer first: BPCC 104 is a 2 hour paper worth 50 marks. Eight questions are set, you attempt any five, with at least two from each section, writing about 300 words per answer.

The structure has held steady across every session we studied, and it shapes how the guess paper is built.

The minimum two per section rule matters more than students realise. Section B leans towards correlation and the normal curve, so a candidate who has revised only central tendency and graphs will be forced into an unprepared answer. The guess paper deliberately spreads its 14 questions across both sections.

You can verify the wording of this instruction on the university's own paper, for example the official BPCC 104 June 2025 question paper hosted on ignou.ac.in.

How This BPCC 104 Guess Paper Was Prepared

Answer first: six question papers were read and coded topic by topic, then every shortlisted question was answered directly from the IGNOU block text, not from generic statistics notes.

The process ran in four stages. First, we collected the June and December papers from June 2023 to December 2025 and typed out all 48 questions set across those six sittings. Second, we coded each question against its block and unit, which produced the 22 row frequency table above.

Third, we applied two selection rules rather than one. A topic qualified if it repeated four or more times, or if it had been absent for two or more consecutive sessions after appearing regularly, because IGNOU rotates rather than retires topics. Normal probability distribution is on the list for exactly that second reason.

Fourth, each shortlisted question was answered from the corresponding unit of the IGNOU study material. Definitions are quoted as the book gives them, examples are the book's own examples, and the scholar names the book cites are retained. That last detail is what separates an answer that reads as prepared from one that reads as improvised.

Computational answers were then checked twice by hand. The Spearman's rho worked example on this page, for instance, resolves to Σd² = 18 and rho = 0.89, and you can verify each rank yourself against the table.

Students hunting for the same treatment across their other papers can browse the BAPCH guess Paper listing for the rest of the programme.

How to Get the Complete BPCC 104 Solved Guess Paper on WhatsApp

Answer first: message 9899436384 on WhatsApp with the code BPCC 104, and the complete 14 question solved PDF is sent to you directly.

Five answers are on this page. Nine remain, including quartile deviation, the normal probability curve, z scores, skewness and kurtosis, classification and tabulation, and the frequency distribution categories.

Send us your course code and the session you are appearing for, June 2026 or December 2026, and tell us whether you need the English or Hindi medium version. If you are appearing for more than one BAPCH paper in the same sitting, mention all the codes together and we will confirm what is ready.

Who this file suits, and who it does not

It suits a student who has some contact with the book and needs a focused revision route in the final two or three weeks. It also suits a repeater who failed on time management rather than understanding.

It does not replace the study material for someone starting from zero in the last 48 hours, and we will say so plainly if you ask. A guess paper narrows your revision; it does not substitute for having read the units at least once.

BPCC 104 Guess Paper Questions Students Ask Us

Is this BPCC 104 Solved Guess Paper valid for both June 2026 and December 2026?

Yes. The file is built for both term end sessions of 2026 because IGNOU sets BPCC 104 from the same four block syllabus in June and December. The frequency analysis behind it runs to December 2025, so both 2026 sittings are covered by the same 14 questions. If the university revises the syllabus mid year, we update the file and resend it at no charge.

How many questions does the BPCC 104 guess paper contain and how many are shown here?

The complete file contains 14 questions with full answers across 14 pages. Five of those questions with their solutions are published on this page as samples, which leaves 9 answers in the paid file. The five shown were chosen to cover both computational and theory formats, so you can judge the writing standard before you decide.

Are the BPCC 104 answers written from the IGNOU study material or from outside sources?

Every answer is written from the IGNOU BPCC 104 block text. Definitions are quoted the way the book states them, the scholars the book cites are named, and the examples used are the book's own examples such as gender for the nominal scale. Nothing is imported from general statistics textbooks, because examiners mark against the university's own material.

Which topics are guaranteed to appear in the BPCC 104 term end examination?

No guess paper can guarantee a question in BPCC 104, and we will not claim otherwise. What the evidence shows is that Spearman's rho and correlation theory appeared in all six sessions studied, from June 2023 to December 2025, and standard deviation in five of those six. Those probabilities are strong enough to build a revision plan around, but they remain probabilities rather than promises.

What is the exam pattern for the BPCC 104 Statistical Methods for Psychological Research-I paper?

BPCC 104 is a 2 hour paper carrying 50 marks. Eight questions are set across Section A and Section B, and you answer any five, choosing at least two from each section. All questions carry 10 marks and each answer should run to about 300 words. A simple calculator is permitted for the computational questions.

Do I need to memorise formulas for the BPCC 104 computational questions?

You need the formula and the method, not the derivations behind them. For Spearman's rho you must reproduce the formula, build the rank table, square the rank differences and substitute correctly. Marks in BPCC 104 are awarded for visible steps, so a correct final figure with no working shown scores lower than complete working that carries a small arithmetic slip at the end.

Is the BPCC 104 guess paper available in Hindi as well as English?

Yes, tell us your medium when you message and we will send the matching version. The term end paper for BPCC 104 is set in both English and Hindi, so the answers are prepared for both. Statistical terms such as mean, median, mode and standard deviation are retained in English within the Hindi file, which is how IGNOU itself presents them.

How is the BPCC 104 file delivered and how long does it take?

Delivery is by WhatsApp on 9899436384 as a PDF you can read on your phone or print. Send your course code and session and the file is shared directly in that chat, usually within the same day. Keep the chat open, because if we revise the file before your session you receive the updated copy in the same thread.

Can I use this BPCC 104 material for my assignment and tutorial as well?

The guess paper targets the term end examination, not the assignment. BPCC 104 carries 6 credits split as 4 theory and 2 tutorial, and the assignment questions are set separately each session. Several topics overlap, such as the role of statistics and Spearman's rho, but assignment work must be handwritten in your own words to avoid plagiarism flags.
