Inside the BPAS 184 Solved Question Paper for June 2026
BPAS 184 Logistics Management is a Skill Enhancement Course from IGNOU's School of Social Sciences, printed for the Bachelor of Arts (General), that explains how goods, materials and information move from supplier to customer.
The June 2026 paper has eight questions in two sections. Section I tests the foundations: the meaning and types of logistics, supply chain challenges, the procurement process and cycle, plus short notes on the logistics environment and material handling systems.
Section II moves to information and newer trends: internal and external information, technology applications of a logistics information system, the environmental impact of logistics, challenges to effective logistics management and customer success.
One change matters a lot this session. Every earlier BPAS 184 Question Paper we checked, from December 2021 to December 2025, asked for answers of about 300 words and short notes of 150 words. June 2026 raised this to about 400 and 200 words, so older model answers now fall short on length.
Our file answers all eight questions at the new length, in plain English with clear headings, so you can revise the whole Logistics Management paper in one sitting before your exam.
BPAS 184 Logistics Management sample answers from the June 2026 paper
Two of the eight June 2026 questions are fully solved below: Q1 on the meaning and types of logistics and Q2 on supply chain challenges. The other six are answered only in the full file.
Q1 Section I 10 marks Unit 1
1. Explain the meaning and types of logistics.
Meaning of logistics. The word logistics comes from the Greek logistikos, meaning skilled in calculating. It was first used in armies for moving troops, food and weapons to the right place on time. In business, logistics is the part of management that plans, carries out and controls the efficient flow and storage of goods, services and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption, so that customer needs are met.
The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, earlier called the Council of Logistics Management, defines it in almost these terms. Put simply, logistics makes sure the right product reaches the right customer in the right quantity and condition, at the right place, time and cost. These are often called the seven Rs of logistics.
Main features. Logistics is a system, because transport, warehousing, inventory, packaging and information all affect one another. It is customer-oriented, since its success is judged by service levels. It also involves a cost trade-off: faster delivery usually costs more, so managers balance speed against expense.
Types of logistics. Logistics is usually classified by the stage of the flow it handles and by who performs it:
- Inbound or procurement logistics: bringing raw materials and components from suppliers to the factory, covering purchasing, receiving and storage of inputs.
- Production logistics: moving materials inside the plant between stores, machines and assembly lines so that work never stops for want of parts.
- Outbound or distribution logistics: delivering finished goods to wholesalers, retailers and final customers through warehouses and transport.
- Reverse logistics: the backward flow of returned, damaged or recyclable products from customers to the firm, now very important for e-commerce returns.
- Third-party logistics (3PL): transport and warehousing outsourced to specialist firms. A fourth-party (4PL) provider goes further and manages the client's whole logistics chain.
- Green logistics: logistics planned to cut fuel use, emissions and packaging waste.
Military and business logistics. A broader classification separates military logistics, which supplies armed forces, from business logistics, which serves trade and industry. Service sectors such as hospitals and airlines also run their own logistics for medicines, spares and baggage.
Conclusion. Logistics is therefore far more than transport. By linking suppliers, production and customers, each type of logistics cuts cost and delay, and together they give a firm its edge in delivering value to the customer.
Q2 Section I 10 marks Unit 3
2. Analyse the challenges of supply chain management.
Introduction. Supply chain management (SCM) is the coordination of all the organisations and activities involved in sourcing raw materials, turning them into products and delivering them to final customers. Logistics is one part of it; SCM also covers supplier relationships, demand planning and partner coordination. Because a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, managing it raises several challenges.
1. Demand uncertainty and the bullwhip effect. Customer demand shifts with seasons, prices and trends. When each stage reacts by over-ordering, small changes in retail demand become large swings at the factory and supplier level, leaving some partners with excess stock and others with shortages.
2. Poor visibility and information sharing. Partners often keep sales and stock data to themselves. Without real-time information, planners cannot see where goods are or how much is needed, so decisions rest on guesswork.
3. Coordination and trust. Suppliers, manufacturers, transporters and retailers each have their own goals. Conflicts over prices, payment terms and delivery schedules make it hard for them to act as one chain.
4. Rising costs. Fuel, warehouse rents, labour and inventory holding costs keep rising. Keeping service levels high while holding less stock is a constant balancing act.
5. Disruptions and risk. Global chains are exposed to pandemics, natural disasters, strikes and political events. The COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 and the six-day blocking of the Suez Canal by the container ship Ever Given in March 2021 showed how one break can delay goods across the world.
6. Technology integration. Tools such as ERP software, barcodes, RFID, GPS tracking and data analytics need investment, trained staff and common standards. Small suppliers often cannot afford them, which leaves gaps in the chain.
7. Quality and supplier reliability. A delay or defect at one supplier stops work further down the chain, so firms must carefully select, monitor and develop dependable vendors.
8. Sustainability pressure. Governments and customers now expect lower emissions, less packaging and ethical sourcing, which adds new costs and reporting duties.
Indian context. In India, weak last-mile roads, many handling points and heavy dependence on road transport have kept logistics costs high. The National Logistics Policy, launched on 17 September 2022, aims to bring these costs down through better infrastructure and digital integration.
Conclusion. The challenges of SCM come from uncertainty, weak coordination and cost pressure. Firms that share information, build trust with partners, adopt suitable technology and plan for risk can turn their supply chain into a real competitive advantage.

BPAS 184 Question Paper pattern and marks in June 2026
The June 2026 BPAS 184 paper carries 50 marks in 2 hours: you answer any five of eight questions, at least two from each section, and each question is worth 10 marks.
| Section | Questions | Expected length | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Section I | Q1 to Q3 long answers; Q4 two short notes | About 400 words each; about 200 words per note | 10 marks each; Q4 is 5 + 5 |
| Section II | Q5 to Q7 long answers; Q8 two short notes | About 400 words each; about 200 words per note | 10 marks each; Q8 is 5 + 5 |
| Whole paper | Attempt any 5 of 8, minimum 2 per section | Roughly 2,000 words in total | 50 marks in 2 hours |
Two hours for five answers gives you about 24 minutes each. A sensible plan is three long answers and the two short-note questions, since the notes split the risk across four smaller topics.
The IGNOU BPAS 184 Question Paper is bilingual, with the Hindi version titled Sambharan Prabandhan printed after the English pages. To see how the pattern held in older sessions, open our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper collection.
Logistics Management topics IGNOU keeps repeating in BPAS 184
Customer satisfaction and the logistics management cycle are the most repeated BPAS 184 topics, each appearing in all 7 earlier official papers we checked.
We counted topics in seven official IGNOU papers: December 2021, June 2023, December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, June 2025 and December 2025. The June 2022 and December 2022 papers were not found in our search, so this is not a full five-year record.

The management cycle, asked in every earlier paper, was left out in June 2026, which makes it a strong candidate for December 2026. Our IGNOU Important Questions page tracks such patterns course by course.
How our BPAS 184 answers are written and checked
Every BPAS 184 answer is drafted from the IGNOU Logistics Management units, sized to the June 2026 word limits and checked by a second reviewer before it goes into the file.
Prateek Talwar writes each answer with an introduction, headed points and a conclusion, the structure IGNOU assignment booklets for this course ask students to follow. Sheetal Kirola then checks every answer against the exact question wording, the unit content and the 400 and 200 word targets.
Answers use simple language and Indian examples where they help, such as the National Logistics Policy of September 2022 in the Q2 sample above. Facts like dates and definitions are kept to what can be checked.
Many BAG students take BPAS 184 alongside other papers in the same term. The same writing method runs across our BAG Question Paper pages, so answers look and read alike across your subjects.

BPAS 184 Logistics Management FAQs
These BPAS 184 answers cover the paper, the file, word limits, repeats and the programmes that use this course.
Is the BPAS 184 Solved Question Paper based on the official June 2026 paper?
Yes. Every answer is written for the official IGNOU June 2026 Term-End Examination paper of BPAS 184 Logistics Management, using the same question numbers and wording that were printed. Two answers, Q1 and Q2, are shown in full on this page. The remaining six questions, Q3 to Q8, are answered only in the complete file we share on WhatsApp at 9899436384.
How can I get the full BPAS 184 solved file on WhatsApp?
Send the message BPAS 184 June 2026 on WhatsApp to 9899436384 and our team replies with the details and the full solved file. It answers all 8 questions in the paper, which means 10 written answers once you count the two short notes in Q4 and the two in Q8. Six of those 8 questions are not shown anywhere on this page.
How many questions are in the BPAS 184 June 2026 paper and how many must I answer?
The BPAS 184 June 2026 paper has 8 questions in two sections, four in each. You must answer any five, choosing at least two from each section, and every question carries 10 marks for a total of 50. Q4 and Q8 are split into two short notes of 5 marks each. The whole exam lasts 2 hours, so plan roughly 24 minutes per answer.
What word limit does the BPAS 184 June 2026 paper ask for?
The June 2026 BPAS 184 paper asks for about 400 words per long answer and about 200 words per short note. Every earlier paper we checked, from December 2021 to December 2025, asked for 300 and 150 words. Answers prepared for the older limit can therefore look thin to the examiner, so our file is written to the new length throughout.
Which BPAS 184 Logistics Management topics repeat most often?
Customer satisfaction and the logistics management cycle each appeared in all seven official BPAS 184 papers we checked between December 2021 and December 2025. Material handling, logistics information systems and green logistics each appeared in six. The June 2026 paper skipped the management cycle completely, so it is a sensible topic to prepare well for the December 2026 exam as well.
How many blocks and units does BPAS 184 Logistics Management have?
BPAS 184 Logistics Management has 3 blocks and 13 units on eGyanKosh. Block 1 introduces logistics management in four units, Block 2 covers components such as procurement, material handling, transport and information systems in five units, and Block 3 deals with emerging trends like customer satisfaction, green logistics and outsourcing in four units. Unit 13 covers challenges to effective logistics management.
Which IGNOU programmes include BPAS 184 Logistics Management?
The BPAS 184 question paper is printed for the Bachelor of Arts (General), BAG. The course is also studied as a skill course in the Bachelor of Commerce (General), the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) streams and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises programmes, BAMSME and BAMSAPS. Students of all these programmes sit the same BPAS 184 paper, so one solved file works for each of them.
Who writes and reviews the BPAS 184 answers?
The BPAS 184 answers are written by Prateek Talwar for Unnati Educations and reviewed by Sheetal Kirola before release. Each answer is checked against the IGNOU Logistics Management units, the exact question wording and the June 2026 word limits. You can read two finished answers on this page to judge the style and depth before you ask us for the full file.
