What the BEGE-145 Solved Question Paper June 2026 covers

BEGE-145 Soft Skills is a 4-credit English course in IGNOU’s Bachelor of Arts (General) programme that teaches communication, self-awareness, teamwork and creative problem solving. The June 2026 paper tested all four blocks of the course in five compulsory questions, each worth 20 marks, with an internal choice in every question.

This year the paper leaned on familiar ground. The coordination question came back in almost the same words as December 2025, the leadership values question echoes June 2022, and creativity as a soft skill returned from June 2023. The fresh items were a list-based teamwork question and a short note on psychological barriers.

The Or choice in every question changes how you should prepare. You never write more than five answers, and for each one you pick between two topics that usually sit in different blocks, so a weak block can often be routed around rather than crammed. The paper-pattern section below sets out exactly which pairs crossed which blocks this session.

If you are collecting older papers as well, our IGNOU Previous Year Question Paper section covers earlier sessions. This page deals only with June 2026 and its solutions.

BEGE-145 sample answers from the June 2026 paper

Two answers from the June 2026 BEGE-145 Question Paper are shown in full below: Question 1 on verbal and non-verbal communication and Question 2 on teamwork. Each follows the 350-word guide printed on the paper.

Question 1 Block 1 20 marks about 350 words Communication set in 5 of 8 papers

1. How is verbal communication different from non-verbal communication? Explain with some examples. (20)

Communication is the process of sharing meaning between a sender and a receiver. It travels through two broad channels. Verbal communication uses words, spoken or written. Non-verbal communication uses everything except words: the face, the body, the voice, space and time. Both work together, but they differ in clear ways.

Key differences.

  1. Medium: Verbal communication depends on language, vocabulary and grammar. Non-verbal communication depends on gestures, facial expressions, posture, eye contact, tone and distance.
  2. Intention: Words are usually chosen consciously. Many non-verbal signals, such as blushing, fidgeting or a nervous laugh, are sent without planning.
  3. Record: Written verbal messages such as letters and emails can be stored and checked later. Non-verbal cues last only a moment and must be read on the spot.
  4. Precision: Verbal messages carry exact facts like dates, figures and instructions. Non-verbal messages carry feelings and attitudes, which are harder to state exactly.
  5. Reach: A language is understood only by those who know it. A smile is understood almost everywhere, although many gestures change meaning across cultures.
  6. Continuity: We can stop speaking, but we cannot stop communicating non-verbally. Even silence sends a message.

Types of non-verbal communication. Kinesics covers body movement, gestures and facial expression. Oculesics is eye contact. Proxemics is the use of personal space, and haptics is touch, such as a handshake. Chronemics is the use of time, for example arriving early for an interview. Paralanguage covers the tone, pitch, pace and pauses that colour spoken words.

Examples. A manager says “Well done” in a flat voice while looking at her phone. The words praise, but the tone and missing eye contact suggest indifference, and the employee is likely to believe the non-verbal message. A candidate who answers well but slouches and avoids eye contact may seem under-confident. A teacher who nods and leans forward while a student speaks shows attention without a word, and a traffic policeman’s raised palm stops vehicles in silence.

Conclusion. Verbal communication tells people what we think; non-verbal communication shows them how we feel. Effective communicators make the two agree, because when words and body language contradict each other, listeners tend to trust the body.

Question 2 Block 3 20 marks about 350 words Teamwork set in 4 of 8 papers

2. Why do you think teamwork is important? Make a list of a few behaviours that can sabotage team spirit. (20)

A team is a small group of people with complementary skills who work towards a shared goal and hold themselves mutually accountable. Teamwork is the willingness and ability of these members to cooperate, coordinate and support one another. In modern workplaces, where projects are complex and deadlines tight, very little of value is achieved by one person working alone.

Why teamwork is important.

  1. Better results: Pooling knowledge produces solutions no single member could reach. A product launch needs designers, marketers and finance staff working together.
  2. Shared workload: Tasks are divided by strengths, so work finishes faster with less stress on any one person.
  3. Learning: Members learn from one another. A new employee picks up skills simply by working beside senior colleagues.
  4. Creativity: Discussion and healthy debate expose blind spots and spark new ideas.
  5. Morale: People who feel part of a team are more motivated, more loyal and less likely to leave.
  6. Accountability: When members depend on each other, each person feels responsible for doing their share well.

Psychologist Bruce Tuckman (1965) described teams moving through forming, storming, norming and performing. Good teamwork skills help a group get through the storming stage instead of breaking apart.

Behaviours that can sabotage team spirit.

  1. Taking credit for shared success, or blaming others for failure.
  2. Withholding information or communicating selectively.
  3. Gossip, backbiting and forming cliques inside the team.
  4. Social loafing, where one member coasts and leaves others to do the work.
  5. Repeatedly missing deadlines, which delays everyone else.
  6. Dominating discussions and dismissing other people’s ideas.
  7. Rejecting feedback and refusing to change.
  8. Sarcasm, disrespect or ignoring colleagues’ feelings.
  9. Personal rivalry placed above the team goal.
  10. Skipping meetings or arriving unprepared.

Example and conclusion. In a college group project, if one member claims the whole credit in front of the teacher, the others quickly lose trust and stop contributing fully. Teamwork turns individuals into a unit that achieves more than the sum of its parts, and guarding against these behaviours through openness, respect and clear roles keeps team spirit alive.

BEGE-145 Soft Skills syllabus block by block

BEGE-145 is divided into four blocks on eGyanKosh: Understanding Soft Skills, Understanding the Self, Understanding the Other and Thinking of the Box. Every June 2026 question can be traced to one of these blocks, as the last column shows.

BEGE-145 Soft Skills blocks, units and June 2026 questions

Block 1Understanding Soft SkillsWhat are Soft Skills?; verbal and non-verbal communication; barriers to communication; personality development and SWOC; health, fitness and mental healthQ1, Q1 Or, Q4 Or, Q5 Or (b), (c), (d)

Block and unit titles follow the official self-learning material on the eGyanKosh BEGE-145 Soft Skills course page. Block 4 is printed there as Thinking of the Box, while IGNOU’s SWAYAM listing calls it Thinking Out of the Box, so you may see either name.

Our BEGE-145 Study Material follows the same block order, so you can read a unit and then see how the solved file answers its question.

BEGE-145 question paper pattern and marks

The IGNOU BEGE-145 Question Paper carries 100 marks in 3 hours: five compulsory questions of 20 marks each, with an Or choice inside every question. The paper asks for about 350 words per answer.

Total5 compulsory questions, 13 printed items5 answers writtenAll four blocks100

5 × 20 = 100 marks · 5 × 350 = about 1,750 words in 180 minutes

Now read the Blocks column downwards, because it is the most useful column on this page. Question 1 is Block 1 whichever option you take, so Block 1 is unavoidable. But every other question offers a way out of its first block. Choose the Or in Question 4 and you answer from Block 1 again; choose the short notes in Question 5 and three of the four topics are Block 1 as well. Choose Question 2’s Or and Question 3’s first option and both come from Block 4.

Put those choices together and Blocks 1 and 4 alone would have answered all five questions of the June 2026 paper, with Blocks 2 and 3 left untouched. That is not a strategy we would recommend as a plan, because next session’s Or pairs will fall differently, but it is worth knowing if your reading time runs out. The safe version of the same point: Block 1 is compulsory every session, so read it first and read it properly.

Question 5 is the only one with a short-notes option, where you pick two of four topics for 10 marks each. Answering every question with examples matters here, because five of the nine full questions in June 2026 asked for them in so many words. For the other courses in your programme, the BAG Question Paper collection shows how each paper is laid out.

Soft Skills topics IGNOU keeps repeating in BEGE-145

Soft skills basics, communication and creativity are the most repeated BEGE-145 topics, each appearing in five or six of the eight official papers from June 2022 to December 2025. We checked every June and December paper in that range on IGNOU’s own website.

This table is unusual, and in a way that helps you. Look at the last column: every single topic IGNOU has ever set on this course appeared somewhere in the June 2026 paper, and one brand-new topic, psychological barriers, was added to them. On the other courses we solve there is normally a gap to exploit, a heavily repeated topic the latest paper skipped. Here there is none, because thirteen printed items across five questions leave room for everything.

So the December 2026 advice is different too. There is no shortlist to chase, but there is a short list to finish: the whole examined history of BEGE-145 comes to about eleven topics, and ten of them have now been asked at least twice. Prepare those eleven with one real example each and you have covered the course, whichever way the Or pairs fall next session.

Three June 2026 items are near copies of older ones. Question 5 on coordination repeats the December 2025 wording, Question 3 Or on leadership values closely matches June 2022, and creativity as a soft skill was asked in June 2023 in almost the same words. For likely topics across many courses, see our IGNOU Solved Guess Paper page before the next term-end exam.

How our BEGE-145 Soft Skills answers are written and checked

Every BEGE-145 answer is written by Prateek Talwar and reviewed by Sheetal Kirola before it goes into the file. We study the eGyanKosh blocks first, so terms like chronemics, Gibbs’ reflective cycle and SWOC carry the meaning IGNOU gives them.

Each answer in the IGNOU BEGE-145 Solved Question Paper uses workplace, classroom or daily-life examples rather than bare definitions. Answers follow the 350-word guide with a short introduction, headed points and a conclusion.

Before review, each answer is checked against the exact question wording. A question that says “make a list” gets a numbered list, and one that asks “why is it important” gets a separate reasons section, because examiners mark what the question actually asks.

Programmes that study BEGE-145 Soft Skills

BEGE-145 Soft Skills is studied in IGNOU’s Bachelor of Arts (General), programme code BAG, where eGyanKosh lists it under Semester V. The June 2026 paper itself is headed Bachelor of Arts (General) English (BAG).

Learners in the IGNOU Bachelor of Arts (General) who take English courses study BEGE-145 alongside literature papers. Unlike those, it focuses on workplace and life skills rather than texts, which makes it the one English paper on the programme where everyday examples from a job, a classroom or a group project earn marks directly.

IGNOU has also run BEGE-145 as a 12-week, 4-credit course on SWAYAM 2, which helps confirm its credit weight for BAG learners.

BEGE-145 Soft Skills FAQs

These answers cover what the BEGE-145 file contains, how to get it on WhatsApp 9899436384 and how to prepare for the next Soft Skills exam.

What is included in the BEGE-145 Solved Question Paper June 2026?

The file contains the official June 2026 BEGE-145 paper with answers to all 13 question items. That means both options of Questions 1 to 4, the full Question 5, and all four Question 5 short notes. Each answer follows the 350-word guide printed on the paper and uses examples, so you can revise every topic the examiners set this year.

How do I get the full BEGE-145 Soft Skills solved file on WhatsApp?

Send a WhatsApp message to 9899436384 with the course code BEGE 145 and the session June 2026. We reply with the file details and price, and share the PDF once you confirm. The full file has all 13 answers: the 2 shown on this page and 11 answers that appear only in the paid file.

Which BEGE-145 answers can I read on this page?

Two complete answers are open on this page. Question 1 explains how verbal communication differs from non-verbal communication, with examples such as tone, eye contact and chronemics. Question 2 explains why teamwork matters and lists behaviours that damage team spirit. The other 11 questions are listed as printed, and their answers are in the full file only.

How many answers do I actually write in the BEGE-145 exam?

Five. The paper prints 13 items but sets only five compulsory questions, each worth 20 marks, and each one offers an Or. So you write five answers of about 350 words, roughly 1,750 words in three hours, which is a light load for a 100-mark paper. Use the spare time to plan each answer and put a real example into every one, since the June 2026 paper asked for examples in five of its nine full questions.

Can I prepare only some blocks of BEGE-145?

You can lean on some more than others, but one block is unavoidable. Question 1 came from Block 1 whichever option you took, so Block 1 must be read properly every session. After that the Or choices in June 2026 crossed blocks: Question 4's Or was Block 1, three of Question 5's four short notes were Block 1, and Question 2's Or and Question 3's first option were both Block 4. Taken together, Blocks 1 and 4 alone would have answered the whole June 2026 paper. Next session's pairs will fall differently, so treat that as a fallback if your time runs out, not as a plan.

Do BEGE-145 Soft Skills questions repeat in IGNOU exams?

Yes, many topics return. In the eight official papers from June 2022 to December 2025, soft skills basics appeared in six sessions, and communication and creativity in five each. In June 2026, the coordination question repeated the December 2025 wording almost exactly, while the leadership values question closely matched June 2022. Repeats are common, but wording often changes slightly.

Which BEGE-145 topics are most likely in December 2026?

Unusually for an IGNOU paper, there is no gap to exploit here. Every topic set in the eight papers from June 2022 to December 2025 appeared somewhere in the June 2026 paper, and psychological barriers was added as a new one, so nothing has been left waiting. The useful fact is that this course has a small examined history, about eleven topics in all, ten of them asked at least twice. Prepare those eleven with one example each and you are covered whichever way the Or pairs fall.

How long should a BEGE-145 Soft Skills answer be?

The June 2026 paper asks for about 350 words per question, and every question carries 20 marks. For the short-notes option in Question 5, two notes of about 175 words each work well, since each is worth 10 marks. Use a short introduction, headed points with examples, and a one or two line conclusion to finish within three hours.

Which BEGE-145 Soft Skills topics should I revise first?

Start with the meaning and importance of soft skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, and creativity, since these came up most often across eight past papers. Next, revise emotional intelligence, leadership values and teamwork, each asked in four sessions. Then cover coordination principles, SWOC analysis and mental health, which are smaller topics but have each appeared at least twice.

Does BEGE-145 Soft Skills have a practical file?

No. BEGE-145 Soft Skills is a theory course assessed through one tutor marked assignment of 100 marks and the term-end exam, with no practical record. That is why this page uses a solved file index instead, mapping each June 2026 question to its block and showing whether its answer is on this page or in the full file.
