Paper 17103 Exam Pattern for the MDU Annual Scheme
MDU Rohtak runs B.Ed on an annual scheme, so Learning and Teaching is examined as a full year paper and not as a semester paper. Knowing the structure decides how many topics you actually need, and it is the same pattern you will see across all B.Ed 1st year question papers.
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Paper | Paper-III, Learning and Teaching, Code 17103 |
| Duration | 3 hours |
| External theory marks | 80 |
| Internal assessment | 20, awarded separately by the college |
| Questions to attempt | Five in all |
| Question 1 | Compulsory short notes, any four, 4 × 4 marks |
| Remaining four | One question from each of Unit I, II, III and IV |
| Internal choice | Every unit offers an Or option |
Because each unit gives you an internal choice, you only need two strong topics per unit plus the compulsory short notes. That is exactly how the 15 questions below have been selected.
Three Sample Questions from the 2026 Learning and Teaching Guess Paper
The complete set carries 15 questions spread across Unit I to Unit IV. Three of them are opened below exactly as they are phrased in the MDU style, so you can judge the standard before you buy. The phrasing has been matched against the past B.Ed Learning and Teaching question papers. The remaining twelve stay inside the solved PDF.

Answers to the first two are written out in full further down this page. The answer to the third, along with twelve more questions covering teaching models, mastery learning, simulated teaching, brain-storming, constructivism, Flander's system, ICT and evaluation devices, is inside the paid solution.
Five Year Frequency Analysis and Priority Tags
A guess paper is only as good as the data behind it. The table below records which topic appeared in which year across the 2021 to 2025 papers for Code 17103, tabulated from the B.Ed previous year question papers. HIGH means repeated four or more times or left out of the most recent paper, which usually signals a return.

Learning and Teaching 's Two Solved Answers as a No-Cost Preview
Read these two answers first. They show the exact depth, the definition-first opening, the comparison table and the applied conclusion used in all fifteen solutions.
Solved answer 1. Short notes on teaching, team teaching, e-learning and CCE (Q1, compulsory, 4 x 4 marks)
Definition of teaching. B.O. Smith described teaching as a system of actions intended to produce learnings. It is a purposeful, tri-polar and interactive social process between teacher and learner aimed at desirable behaviour change. Jackson called it a face-to-face encounter and N.L. Gage described it as interpersonal influence. Teaching is observable, measurable and modifiable.
Team teaching. Carlo Olson defined it as an instructional situation where two or more teachers with complementary skills cooperatively plan and implement instruction for a single group. It uses flexible scheduling, pools teacher resources, removes teacher isolation and rests on collective responsibility.
E-learning. Rosenberg (2001) linked it to the application of internet technique that opens new fields of knowledge and working capacity. Teacher and learner interact online without face-to-face contact. It is flexible, self-paced, permits quick evaluation and may be synchronous or asynchronous.
CCE. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation is a school-based system that is continuous across the year and comprehensive across scholastic and co-scholastic areas. It combines formative and summative assessment, identifies learning difficulties early, applies remedial measures and reduces examination stress.
Solved answer 2. Levels of teaching (Q2, Unit I, 16 marks)
Bigge described teaching as a purposeful social activity in which the teacher presents subject matter after passing through levels ranging from thoughtlessness to thoughtfulness. Teaching-learning moves through three levels and each higher level is built on the one below it.
Memory level. The first and most thoughtless level. The student crams facts, formulae and laws. The teacher's role is prominent and the student's role secondary. It is cognitive, pre-planned and externally motivated. It suits small children and forms the base of the higher levels, but it lacks insight, interaction and intelligence.
Understanding level. A higher and more thoughtful level. Pupils learn relationships between principles and facts and know where to apply them without cramming. The teacher is more active and knowledge becomes organised and enduring. It nevertheless remains subject-centred and develops mainly the cognitive domain.
Reflective level. Also called the contemplative or introspective level and the highest level of teaching. It is problem-centred and learner-centred. The student faces a real problematic situation and solves it using critical and creative ability. The teacher's role is democratic and the student's role active. It develops original thinking but does not suit small children.
| Basis | Memory level | Reflective level |
|---|---|---|
| Centre | Teacher and subject-centred | Learner and problem-centred |
| Thinking | Thoughtless, rote learning | Highly thoughtful and insightful |
| Suitability | Lower classes | Higher and mature classes |
| Interaction | Absent | Active interaction present |
Conclusion. Memory level is the prerequisite of understanding, and both together are prerequisites of the reflective level. Progressing through them moves learning from cramming towards critical thinking and real-life problem solving.

Topics to Skip and What MDU Examiners Reward
What you can safely leave out
- Single-appearance topics such as detailed Inquiry Training Model narratives
- Long lists of definitions. Two or three key theorists per topic is enough
- Highly technical sub-topics such as full encoding and decoding matrices of Flanders
- Lengthy background history of education, which rarely earns marks
What actually earns marks
- Open every answer with a clear definition plus a theorist's name and year
- Link the theory to classroom practice and show how a real teacher would use it
- Cite NEP 2020, NCF 2005 or RTE 2009 wherever the topic allows it
- Use neat headings, numbered points and one comparison table per answer
- Close with an applied or reflective line written from a teacher's viewpoint
Ten Day Revision Plan Before the Exam
Ten focused days are enough to cover the whole Learning and Teaching B.Ed 1st Year paper if you follow the priority tags rather than the textbook order.

| Day 3 to 4 | Unit II. Teaching model, Concept Attainment Model, simulated teaching and brain-storming |

| Day 7 to 8 | Unit IV. Types of evaluation, need and characteristics, and evaluation devices |
| Day 9 | Compulsory short notes. Teaching, team teaching, e-learning and CCE |
| Day 10 | Write one full 3 hour paper from this set under timed conditions |

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these Learning and Teaching B.Ed important questions valid for the 2026 exam?
Yes. The set targets the MDU 2026 annual examination for Paper-III, Code 17103. It was built by tabulating every topic that appeared in the 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 papers, then tagging each topic HIGH, MEDIUM or LOW. HIGH topics are those repeated four or more times or skipped in the most recent paper, which historically makes them likely to return.
How many questions do I have to attempt in the 17103 paper?
Five in all. Question 1 is compulsory and asks for short notes on any four sub-topics carrying four marks each. After that you attempt one question from each of Unit I, Unit II, Unit III and Unit IV. Every unit gives an internal choice, so preparing two strong topics per unit from this guess paper is enough for a full attempt.
How much of this guess paper is available at no cost?
Three questions are shown and two of them are solved in full. The two open answers are the compulsory short notes and the levels of teaching from Unit I. You can read both completely, judge the writing standard and decide for yourself. The remaining thirteen solved answers sit inside the paid PDF delivered on WhatsApp.
Is this guess paper only for MDU Rohtak students?
It is written specifically against the MDU Rohtak B.Ed 1st Year syllabus for Code 17103. Students of CRSU, KUK and other Haryana state universities often find heavy overlap because the Learning and Teaching syllabus is broadly similar, but the exam pattern and question phrasing here follow MDU. Check your own university paper before relying on it.
What is the difference between an important questions list and a guess paper?
An important questions list simply names likely topics. This document goes further. It phrases each question the way MDU actually asks it, maps it to a unit, tags its priority, records the years it appeared and supplies a written answer at the correct word length. In practice it works as both an important questions list and a full guess paper.
