Question 2. What are the aims and objectives of Teaching Social Science at Secondary Level ? How these differ from each other ? 6, 6, 4

Solution to Question 1

(a) Correlation of Social Science and Civics. Civics is a core branch of Social Science dealing with citizenship, government, rights and duties. Correlation means teaching them in a connected way, so a lesson on democracy or the Constitution also draws on history, geography and economics. This helps learners see society as one whole rather than separate subjects, and makes civic learning relevant to daily life.

(b) Importance of Lesson Planning. A lesson plan is the teacher's written blueprint for a class, listing objectives, content, method, teaching aids and evaluation. It brings direction and confidence, uses class time well, keeps the lesson learner-centred, and ties each step to a clear objective. It also helps a new teacher anticipate difficulties and prepare suitable questions and examples in advance.

(c) Uses of Newspaper in Social Science. Newspapers link classroom Social Science to current events, so topics like democracy, the economy and international relations come alive.
